Just got back from ER vet w/ Brando

Oh, God, Brando was running around like the maniac that he is and slid right into his crate his patella snapped out and he went down screaming! I can usually pop it back in it is a grade one, and this time I couldn't so I was scared it was something else, it just won't go back in, ran him down to the emergency vet said the trauma of the fall and hit really knocked it out and I found out he gained almost 4 ounces I am killing this dog.. I feel like such an idiot! he gave him a shot of rimadyl because the tendon below the patella was pulled all the way up to his back hip, I hate that drug and Brando did have one bad reaction to it a while ago, but his liver functions were off then and have been normal since. Oh man I am a wreck. so he is in his crate took him outside in his wagon and was going to sling him to pee but he went (lifting his little leg) I was hoping for a squat but no he had to be a man. So far so good no bad reaction to the shot (got it at 5:30pm) I am keeping a close eye on  him, and they are open all night. I feel so bad for him.
Sorry for the long post but you are my peeps.
Thanks for listening. Will call his vet tomorrow.

but he went (lifting his little leg)

Deb- I would think this was a really good sign.  I can only imagine how scary this must've been but I hope he's okay now and you can both get some sleep.

Marlania, you can't have your 4,000 until I get my howevermany LOL - and Glenda needs her 12k.

Oh, poor boy.  Willow also has the grade I luxating patella so I know how it goes in and out and you can correct it.  Willow corrects hers herself.

Hope everything goes fine tonight.  Tell that crazy kid to calm down!!

Brando, you crazy boy!  Take it easy, kiddo.  It's not cool to scare your mama or your self appointed Aunt (me) like this.  Be a good boy & relax & soak up the lovin'.  Aspen & I are sending get well vibes.  We'll I'm sending the vibes.  Aspen sends Princess kisses.

Gosh I'm so sorry --- Brando you gotta learn to WALK babe.

Give him like half a capsule of milk thistle IN something (like in food, in a little yogurt, whatever) four times a day for a week and it will help stabilize the liver.

Try giving him some chammomile tea -- make it and brew it pretty strong (save the wet herbs to add to his food later).  Add a wee bit of broth or something to it -- it's not bad tasting.  Give him a tablespoon or two every few hours.  It's a mild nsaid -- it will help settle his tummy and it will help him generally feel better.

THEN make some yourself.  It will help calm you down and when he sees he's getting something from mommy's cup it will make it ever so much nicer!!

Just use a syringe with no needle (or get one of those baby ones at the grocery store) 0r a dropper -- park the tip behind his canine tooth and just gently squeeze and he'll swallow it.  First put some in YOUR mouth and then in his.  "Aunt Callie says this is gonna help".

    It will.  Both of you.

    Deb,

Sorry to hear of poor Brando's popping knee.  You know I've been through it with Misty.  If it's popping like that and not going back in, my guess is it's no longer a grade I luxating patella.  You may want to have it graded by a board certified surgeon just to double check and make sure he's not in more trouble than he was before.

Any questions on those little knees, I'm here for ya.  Hope you are both well tonight.
