Abbie passed her level 1 sar test last night. woofreakinghoo.

YAAAAAYY!!  What a great accomplishment for this girl!!  Congratulations!  How will you celebrate?

I'm giving a presentation tonight for my students.  Why do I feel unprepared?  I have to edit myself because I talk too much and give too much information when I'm training someone.  These folks are at the beginning stages, so they don't need every nuanced detail.  Hmmm... I think I will search the internet for videos to illustrate my point, because that saves me lecture time.  YAAY!

My storage unit is so chock-full of stuff!  I need the room the maneuver around in it to get things organized, and I've got medium and big pieces of furniture that need to get moved around.  Hmm.... I think I need to hire someone to come pull the giant entertainment center out of there - it's so freakin' heavy!

It's also so weird when you get pink eye as an adult, particularly if you have no children, and don't work around children

This isn't necessarily true.  I don't work around children, yet I am susceptible to pink eye due to allergens or when I am sick.  Here is some info: http://www.bing.com/health/article/mayo-MADS00258/Pink-eye-conjunctivitis?q=conjunctivitis&qpvt=conjunctivitis

Day #2 of bright blue and sunny skies in western Oregon.  Wearing sunglasses 2 days in a row in early March = awesome!

Tina, that sign you mentioned about texting and driving was perfect.  Sadly, too many people don't worry about the dangerous consequences of actions like that.  I've had scary moments just because I've looked down for a split second to adjust the heat or radio.  I can't imagine taking my eyes off the road long enough to write texts!  Deb, I'm with you and the horn-blowing.  It's a regular occurrence here to be stuck behind someone at a light that turns green, but the driver is too busy texting to realize it's time to gas and go!

Kate, I hope you have a wonderful time in Paris.  I've never been, but anyone I know who has visited there says they loved it.  A couple we know went several years ago, and they ate ham on baguette bread everyday for lunch.  It was so delicious that they couldn't believe it.  Upon returning home, they tried to have the same sandwich, but it paled in comparison.  The lack of a Parisian backdrop altered the flavor!!

If I had a magic wand, I'd make a massage therapist appear at my desk, ready to work the kinks out of my neck and shoulders right now. They've been plaguing me for days.  I don't know if it's my pillow, too much time at the computer, or what --- but it's giving me a headache and feels really awful!

Don't get used to it, Deb.  Winter is following close behind again.  Yesterday it was 63 degrees, today it is about 40 w/a 25mph wind.

I am  grumpy! I just went to my PO Box and picked up a client's check. I went to the bank to deposit the ENTIRE check. They refused it saying it was made out to my business and that wasn't the account name. I have had this account there for 7 years and have had as many checks made out to me as made out to the business. But today that isn't OK and the other checks (including one about a week ago) should never have been accepted. Mind you the business name is in the account details just not THE name. The nicely told me they could change the nature of my 'free' account to a heavily charged business account and then all would be fine.

I declined their very kind offer and will now look for a different bank. Thank you Wells Fargo for taking over Wachovia you've really improved things Angry

No no no!  Say it isn't so!  It's 67 degrees out right now - which matches the record since some time in the 1800s.  Tomorrow's high is 43, then possible snow overnight with Saturday's high of 37.  Ptuey!  Today is GORGEOUS!  I actually broke a sweat walking outside at lunch!

Karen, that kind of thing makes my blood pressure boil.  That's one of the disadvantages of dealing with these huge banks.  I could see if you were trying to cash the check, but honestly even that shouldn't be a deal breaker when you've been an account holder that long.

I'll put in my plug for credit unions.  I've done all my banking with the same local credit union for nearly 20 years.  It was affiliated with my former employer, and after I left that job, I kept all my accounts there because I loved their excellent service.  I've never had anything annoying like that happen there.  We've got regular bank accounts, we've done auto loans, credit cards --- all handled smoothly and with personal attention, no inconveniences.

The other thing I love about ours is that they are genuinely community-minded.  Since they are local only, they support several charities (including our animal shelter) by holding food and supply drives, sponsoring tables at fundraising events, lending manpower for things like landscaping or clean-up projects at organizations, etc.  They have far more invested interest in being a valuable community member than a large bank, in my opinion.  I'm happy to do business with such a place!  Maybe you can research a credit union in your area?  More of them are popping up that aren't limited to specific employee groups.

Ditto!  We've been with our credit union for almost 30 years and I've never been treated like anything except a valued customer.  At work we bank at a small, locally owned bank.  They too treat us like valued customers and one of the vice presidents stops by our office on a regular basis just to say hello and pet the dogs. :)

We took the office dogs to the park at lunch today.  They both had a blast and both decided to get in the creek.  Happy dogs. :)

Awhile back I had a rebate check for 15.00 went to the bank, they would not cash it, said I had to deposit it, which  I did then made out a check to myself for l5.00 dollars now does that make sense?  This was a another branch of the bank from the one I use all the time.  I told the woman who always waits on me at the bank I always go to about it and she said that was ridiculous and not a rule of the bank at all.  What a waste of time and paper.

Oh by the way when I first came in here I clicked on Thursday chat and was reading last weeks.  Was wondering why it sounded familiar.  Age is getting to me I guess.

    Hi guys...did ya miss me?

Had to go out of town to help my Mom and Dad move Grandpa's stuff out of his apartment.   Whew...I was one tired puppy.  I was happy to arrive back home last night.  Hubby and the boys really missed me too :)

Havent had a chance to follow up on all that I missed, hope everyone is getting along well and feeling better.

We have been very warm but windy here until today....then it dropped into the upper 30's still windy and rainy burrrrrr.  I am ready to get home and curl up with warm furr babies.

Love my Credit Union also...and we have been members since 1983.  It originally began to serve people who worked on the local AF base, but now has opened to anyone who lives in the area.  Never had a problem with them...even when I saw some charges that I did not make...they took care of it!

It is beautiful and 80 degrees here!  Got a few plants today which I had ordered...spring is springing!   I think the patio is calling me to plant them tomorrow!

Same with the one we belong too. I've been with them since the early 80s and wouldn't change for the world.

I rarely rave about stuff like this but if you haven't tried an Opal apple, you really should. They're yellow, super crisp and not too sweet. I could eat one every day. Unfortunately, my grocery store seems to have them on a hit or miss basis.

I'll add my vote for credit unions, too. Friendly service, reasonable fees (if there are any fees), decent rates, quick responses to questions, etc. Karen, are you eligible to join the NC State Employees CU? Here are the membership criteria (https://www.ncsecu.org/AboutSECU/MembershipEligibility.html). I belong to that one and never moved my accounts when I moved up north. I still do all of my banking with them. Totally easy and great service.

My truck is all fixed and inspected--yeah! I figured it would take a week. I have no idea why I thought that; I guess it's an island thing. Nothing happens fast here :-)

Doug, I hope your MIL is doing OK and is comfortable. Sending good thoughts for her and for your wife as she takes care of her.

Ear rubs for Sassy (and an extra cookie, too, per Sinbad's request).

Hugs for all who need them.

Be sure to send a warm and gracious goodbye note, expressing deep sorrow at having to leave after being insulted by the shoddy treatment and price gouging.

A thought-are they going to charge an account closing fee?

Thanks to all for good wishes for my MIL.
