    What a week!!!!

Last Wednesday I took Cage to the vet because he isn't himself and stopped eating on Tuesday. After an exam and blood work we found out he is heart worm NEG but has some white blood cells in his urine. More blood work was sent off with results to follow on Friday.
4 am Thursday Dustin and I packed up Markie, Teddy, Doozer(the Boston I am handling) and Rocco(the Am Staff Dustin is handling) to head to Maryland for shows. The trip wasn't bad although we did see two really bad accidents, one that they had to close 83 because they had to land the life flight on the highway..so we arrive safe and sound, or so we thought. Dustin and I headed in to show the Am Staffs and Boston as Teddy was only entered Friday & Sunday. While we were driving he did something to his leg because I took him out of the crate on three legs!
The show vet examined him and thought his knee was just swollen, suggested baby asprin and sent us on our way that if he wasn't walking on it by morning to go to a vet that was less then a mile away...I'm still wondering why she didn't suggest her own practice but anywho. No better, trip to vet $300.00 later to find out Teddy has pulled the cartilege off the top of his tibia on the rear leg, suggest Orthopedic surgeon.
This morning we had the consult with the OS and Teddy will be having surgery this afternoon to put in two pins for his FRACTURE!!!!

Cage's blood work has come in and he is low thyroid and either has a prostate infection/cancer or testicular infection/cancer.

When it rains it pours...our septic pump went out too

Yikes Jaime, it has been a rough week for you all.  Normally I'd be thinking the septic pump going out was a major crisis, but with all the other stuff, you must be majorly stressed.  I hope the surgery goes well and the diagnosis for Cage is an infection and not cancer.

Thanks for the vibes and prayers everyone!

The boys really have me worried. The OS made me feel very comfortable this morning with him on the consult with Teddy and the fact that he is going on vacation and didn't wish to take on any more work but when he saw the x-rays I had with me cleared him for surgery today. He said he could probably wait until he returned in two weeks but he didn't want to chance it or send him to an associate.

Cage is a big concern. I'm really gun shy on his neuter. As many of you know I lost Julie some time after her eye was removed as the cancer moved on to another area of her body and I also lost Sonny to cancer.. both a day apart last Novemeber. I'm just afraid it will spread and we will lose him like Julie and Sonny.
Cage is the brindle boy in my signature, he has never really been a show dog, he didn't like showing in the classes but Dustin was able to put points on him towards his championship and he was the king of the Jr's ring when Dustin was competing for his open Jr's title. He has always been a GREAT companion and the easiest going dog we've ever owned.

    Cathy,
That septic is the least of my worries, your right.

I've been around but very quiet, mostly reading but I'll feel better and annoy you all once I know they are both on the road to recovery.

Figured I'd better get some help since Teddy is going under the knife this afternoon and stop leaving it all in my head and heart. You guys are a fabulous support system!

I am sorry to hear about the boys but it seems Teddy will be OK soon!  It's great they could operate so soon.

Try to concentrate on the positive stuff of the weekend, like the success of the Boston you're handling, instead of the negatives you can't control right now!
