    Marty,
Give Winnie some lovin from me and our 12 year old Am Staff Willie..

    Stacy,
I'd love to but I am just so worried about the boys. Once I hear Teddy is out of surgery I'll feel better until it's time for Cage's and he's feeling better.

Oh, Jamie, I am so sorry! Good grief, I will say prayers for all of you please let us know as soon as Teddy is out of surgery today.

    Jaime,
You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that Cage comes back as infection and not cancer!  If it is cancer and you decide to neuter, at least that is less invasive than an eye removal.  I'll certainly be praying for a negative cancer report though!

And sending good surgery prayers for Teddy.  Tell him no more doing acrobatics in his crate!!!

    Take Care,
    Emily

Wow Jaime, what a horrid time. My thoughts and prayers are with Teddy and Cage. I'm hoping that it's just an infection that has Cage's bloodworrk all out of whack. Let us know how Teddy is doing!

Jaime, must be something in the air here in NEPA!  Our Bailey, only 11 months old, has been ill since Memorial Day.  He stopped eating and was crying in pain and alternating limping on all four legs.  The vet we "were" going to ran blood work, checked for HW, lyme and a host of other things but came up empty.  He was treated w/ antibiotics for a week and was good, but as soon as he stopped the Rx he went back to the same.  The vet refused to give more antibiotic because he was afraid Bailey would become immune to them!  So, off to a new vet.   She can't figure out what exactly is wrong either but is treating him w/ Doxycycline for a few weeks now and he is doing better of late.  And on top of that we were flooded out with all the rain a few weeks ago and have been having furnace problems on and off since then!  Thank god it's summer because cold showers suck!  Hope all gets better for you soon!

Irishinpa, did they take xrays?  Were there any spots on the bones?  Large breed puppies can get growing pains that cause a "bruised" spot to appear on the long bones in the legs.  The pain travels from one leg to the next and never in the same place.  Its called panostetis.  Scout had a minor bout of it last year. Let me tell you he was not the same dog. He laid in bed all day and refused to eat. He had a fever and his eyes were dull.  They gave him pain killers and fluids to rehydrate him and he recovered in about a week.  It can recur, but at a certain age when they stop growing they never have issues again.  Also, I'm not sure if irish setters are prone to HOD(hypertrophic osteodystrophy). It causes major inflammation in the growth plates and can cause malformations in the development of thier skeletal system. Its an autoimmune disorder and it is treatable but not cureable.  Some dogs will have one episode and never have another, others are plauged throughout life. In weims it usually happens at a much younger age. Its probably not what it is, but thought I'd throw it out there in case you want to ask your vet. Its treated with a steroid to bring the inflammation under control.  I hope that its neither of those and he feels better soon !!!!

Teddy came through surgery fine...always an issue putting a frenchie under. He is up and alert. They will take him out at 10 pm, The tech said he was standing on his back leg so we'll see how it goes from there.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, prayers and thoughts!
You have no idea how much it means to me

Whew - I'm relieved, so I can only imagine how you're feeling.   I hope to hear that he had a calm, comfortable night and can start the recovery process soon.  I'm ignorant about this type of thing, but what is the recovery process like?
