Hows bugsy doing today? Abbie is limping a little but I haven't totally checked her over yet. Last night after training I let my 3 run free with one of the other dogs (this dog is so cool, its a sight hounds of sorts mixed with something, brindle pattern with white paws and it smiles and clatters its teeth whenever it is getting loved on, hilarious). Anyway, that dog is FAST! While they were running either abbie or zapp, we couldn't tell which because it was so dark and all we could see was their lighted collars, yelped. They both seemed fine at the time but now I'm wondering if she hurt something. Zapps owner emailed me saying she found a scrape along zapps belly so I was thinking it was that but Dogs don't usually yelp over a scratch. Hopefully it's nothing. Neiko already has a broken nail, I don't want to deal with another injury this week. Todays going to be a long day at work. I have to start before 9. That always ruins my mood ;p

Riley woke up a hot mess this morning, runny nose, cough, little fever.  She completely picked up DH's cold.  What a mess.  Of course she won't take anything so it will definitely be a struggle today.  She doesn't have much of a fever so I am not worried right now.

Off to a supplier's office for most of the day and to the funeral home this evening.  Found out my uncle was actually in two wars (WWII and Korean War).  This plus he had nine children (8 boys and 1 girl) and at one point worked 3 jobs to make it all happen.  He was 85 years old when he died yesterday.  He was in assisted living with my aunt for a few years and they moved him to the hospital a few days ago.  The last time I saw him was at my cousin's funeral about a month ago and although he was on O2 he looked pretty good.  I am glad it went fast for my aunt's sake.

We are planning a 70th suprise birthday party for my mom this Sunday.  I looked through all their old pics and got some good ones to put on a photoboard I am making.  I asked my sis to help since she did the scrapbook thing for years and has all the tools and stuff.  She said she was too burned out from her job (remember she works 2 hours a day) Indifferent So I guess it's up to me.  That's OK, at least it will be done the way I like it and DH will help.

Lisa I am so sorry about your Uncle who clearly was someone who led a very full life, Godspeed and prayers for you Aunt and your family.

Poor Riley!!! Give her a gentle kiss on the forehead for me.

Julie I hope Abbie is fine, you know they can pull muscles and stuff just like us

Julie I am sad to say that I believe the 'flatness' was due to the crash with his goldendoodle friend - it was horrific to watch and he's been attentive to that leg (the repaired one) ever since, not constant but he usually doesn't bother with it. Of course being who he is not even a hitch in his stride, so who knows.  He is feeling better this morning and his lazy (for him) days mean he has been awake from about 4:30 am onward. He just stays on his bed but if you move, he springs to life - and when he springs to life any living creature in our home is waking up with him Stick out tongue  Between the tail wagging (hitting everything), wiggling, whining, licking, all followed by his flopping around like a seal its hopeless.

I am sure he is going to be 'ready' for Duke this morning, more so than they will be ready for him!

I can't find my address book and apparently my contacts didn't all transfer from my previous phone.  I discovered this as I started to write out cards last night. I got through the ones I know the addresses for then when on the hunt for addresses and gave up after about 40" of looking.  Add that to the list of things I should get done today

Jamison passed out after eating 1/2 a bag of beer bones, so I was able to get in some quality nap time yesterday.  Sinus headache is gone, but still stuffy.  It's warm, humid and rainy here - never a good mix for my sinuses.

Lisa: will Riley take any medicine if you put the flavorings they offer in??

I went actual shopping over the weekend and picked up a lot of stuff for the house, I just have to get motivated to get it all up.

Deb - no she won't take anything other than her regular meds.  She is so hesitant (more like heavily resistant) since the whole medication mess when she was first diagnosed and I don't want to push anything since we can get her regular meds in her and don't want to ruin that.

If she got really feverish (over 101) then it wouldn't be an option, but if we can hold off we will.  She actually takes regular tylonel pills (1/2) since she refuses the chewables or god firbid the liquid.  I swear if I had the brain power I would develop the means to turn any kiddo med into a candy form (like chocolate or gummies or jelly beans).  For us 1/2 the struggle is just getting her to take it.

Willa's sick too. She was up alllll night last night complaining about her ear hurting. I gave her ibuprofen but she still kept waking up. Sleepx100

((hugs)) Lisa and super duper sympathy vibes to your poor sis. Hmm

    Good luck today Bugsy!

I hope Abbie's owie isn't serious.  My brother's top Lab's littermate (confusing) crashed shoulder to shoulder with another lab and both dogs shattered their shoulders.  This happened many years ago but I've never forgotten it and when my dogs get too crazy playing I'm cringing inside.

I hope Bugsy does well at Duke today.  :)

Lisa and Jano, good vibes to the sick kiddos.

It's cold and windy here today.  Brrrrrr  Glad I'm inside instead of working on a rooftop freezing my tush off.

Lisa, I'm sorry about your uncle's passing.  And I hope Riley is feeling better soon.

I hung up the Christmas cards I've received so far.  That's been the extent of my decorating.

    • Gold Top Dog

We got our first snow.  Just a dusting but a little freezing drizzle came first so there was some slick areas on the way in today.

Hope all the sick kiddos get to feeling better.  My hubby has been sick since Friday evening and I have been avoiding him as much as possible so he doesnt give me the yuck!

Have a good day all, very busy gotta run

Creepy guy just pounded on the door yelling that he needed to use our bathroom.  Sorry, dude, but I'm here by myself this morning.  I told him we don't have a public restroom.  I feel kind of bad for him but it's not worth taking a chance.  I was glad that the door was locked and that Gabby was barking.  She has a big bark. :)

Let dogs in. Let dogs out. Let dogs in. Let dogs out. Bake a cake. Let dogs in.

    That's my day today.

Lisa, sorry to hear about your uncle, although I am glad for everyone's sake that his passing was quick and peaceful.

Devin is resistant to take any medicine these days as well, but if I pour it into one of her cups and put a little juice in it, she is more than willing to drink it.  Although, she doesn't usually get juice at our house so it is more of a treat for her.  I don't add a lot of juice because I want her to drink it all.  Might be worth a try if you feel she really needs something.

My temp alarm started going off on our deep freeze over the weekend.  The seal on the door is weak too.  I had an appliace guy come out yesterday and as he was checking the temp, he moved a drawer and it seemed to start sealing better when he closed it.  He checked everything else and it seemed fine.  Of course, today, the alarm is still going off so there must be an issue, although he didn't find one.  This is such a busy week for me and I don't really have time to take off work and meet him again.  UGH!!!!!  But I also don't want to lose everything in my freezer.  It looks like I may need to move the stuff I want to make sure I keep into the smaller one.  I also need to clean out the one inside which would make some more room for stuff.  I hate these issues.  And to make matters worse, he coudln't find the model number on it anywhere and there is no telling how old it is since someone gave it to us.

I really don't have the extra money right now to just go out and buy another one, and I really don't have the extra time off work to keep meeting the appliance guy!

Gosh -- Julie I hope she feels better, and Karen - Bugsy too!!  And Riley -- take your medicine - it's gonna HELP!! (and I know they taste yucky -- so maybe Mom could just let you swallow a pill?  I learned YOUNG to hate liquids, and prefer pills LOL)

Yesterday was murder but I lived thru it.  I swear I'm staring to hate the 5th of the month more and more LOL.

Charlie sez happiness is bieng wif a family where SOME BUDDY is always willing to cuddle.  David came out of the bathroom last night to nearly tumble over a ying/yang of Luna and Charlie all curled up together.  Later it was Tink/Charlie and then at bedtime it's me & Charlie till Dad wakes up enough to come to bed LOL.

I'd say he sleeps around, but he doesn't -- he's a pretty active little guy.

I worry too much myself. I had one coworker who's Irish Setter littermates were playing and one ended up with a spinal cord injury and had to be put down. Then several yrs ago our neighbor was throwing the ball for her lab out front and I heard a horrible screech from the dog. I thought he'd been hit by a car but he'd gone up for the ball and broke his back when he landed. Surgery fixed him up but it happened again a few yrs later and they had to put him down. It's a good thing I don't have kids or they'd probably have to wear helmets 24/7 Huh?

I hope Willa and Riley get over their colds fast and all the doggies are okay.

It was only in the low 30s this morning but bright and sunny and so I didn't think I needed a jacket - wrong!

I searched online for some good cookie recipes yesterday and found a few that look yummy and not too time-consuming. I'm going to need to take a day off to do some baking though and it'll have to be a day when DH works or I won't get anything done.
