I have the only dog who...

We used to have a cat who would knock over any glass left on the table to drink it if it was too low or small to stick his head in and drink that way...

Our cat did that, too, but only if there was milk in the glass.  Somehow I couldn't get it through our sons' heads to put their glasses in the sink or fridge when they were done.

Something strange Marley does that I havent seen any of my other dogs do is look at birds or airplanes flying by in the sky...

Caleb only watches birds flying.  If a plane goes over, he might glance up at it, but that's it.  But birds- he'll watch them until they're out of sight.  Just the other day he watched a flock of geese go over.  But it was in a very different way- he looked up at them, back to me then fixated back on the geese as if he was waiting for one to drop from the sky (I think I really need to look into somekind of field work for him).  He'll also watch low flyig helicopters very intently.

Piper is a lush. Given a chance, she knocks over the beer bottle and laps from the floor...

LOL  My Dad's first Quarter Horse would pick up a bottle of beer by the neck and drink it.

I know this isn't completely unique, but *I* have never had a dog before who would run, with GREAT joy, as soon as he sees you (Charlie) and grab a TOY and bring it to you...

You've never had a Lab before, have you Callie?  LOL  We end up with quite a pile of toys at the front door.  Then there are those that are strewn around the room from Caleb dropping one and picking up another.

nope -- and Charlie's a Cavalier!  *smile*  As I said, I know it's not unique, but it's the first time *I* have had a dog who did this.  And he's in sheer Heaven that there are LOTS of toys here!!  He doesn't destroy them -- lays on them, totes them around, throws them up and catches them, rarely squeaks one -- but LOVES them!

I used to have an Arab/Quarter horse named Tripoli that would do this too! He also loved ham and cheese sandwiches lol

Callie...it mus be a PUG thing! My moms Pug, Pugsley, does the same exact thing. Into EVERYbodys things...likes to steal paper and eat it too.

Kobe, Vinny and Boadicea will drink out of your glass given half a chance.

Kobe will go through any ones purse even if there are no goodies, It can be a bit embracing.

Boadicea is nuts,I mean NUTS about ice cubes. I have never seen a dog so crazy about any food. Let alone Ice Cubes.

Magus does not roll in dead carcasses or bad smelling stuff of any kind and he doesn’t eat cat poop.

He pefers not to get dirty in genral with the exception of mud puddles.

And not unique at all but Vinny is My first dog whom insist on sleeping under the covers when he sleeps.

Not a dog bu,t Cleo our cat is the first cat Ive ever seen who sleeps Stretched out on her  back.

OMG- Charlie would  be in heaven here- 100+ toys to play with and carry around (2 hampers full).  Why so many toys?  I've been blessed with not 1 but 2 Labs who don't destroy toys.  Mick used to toss them around.  Caleb does everything else Charlie .  He snuggles and sleeps with them, too.

Flem is so very much interested in DH's glass of evening milk. He knows better than to leave it unattended on the living room table. She's never got into it but would. None of the other stuff in glasses interests anybody.

As soon as it gets warmish, Spip will give a single bark when she wants the ceiling fan turned out in the covered patio outside. Her Ladyship wants all her creature comforts : shade, Coolaroo, nice fresh water, and some flowing air, pretty please.

Gotta love Retriever Charlie ! What a gem !

Jessie will bring me one of my shoes when she wants to go for a walk. She's the first dog we've had, so I don't know if this is something other dogs do.

Two that I have been reminded of this evening: no matter where they are Bugsy will find DH's reading glasses and show them to us, clearly taunting DH. DH has several pair but he will only taunt with the pair he was most recently wearing.

And the other one is when the mood strikes he will literally take the shoes off DH's feet, it's very amusing. He does this after we've eaten but are still sitting at the table. They wind up playing a game with Bugsy trying to pull the shoe off and DH trying to keep it on.

Through my work it's rare to find something I haven't seen before anymore, but my guys do have a couple of individual quirks.

I don't think Kash ever really "learned" our stairs that well.  He does them quite fine, but it HAS to be an all or nothing thing. He can't go up a couple and stop and come back down, and the same way he can't go down a couple and turn and come back up.  If he's going up, he goes ALL the way up (even if I call him midway), and if he goes down he goes ALL the way down, even if he turns around to come right back up. I'm not sure if he stumbled and frightened himself, or he just chained it as one smooth behaviour (instead of a dozen single steps), but he has to prep himself and do it all at once. It's kind of humourous.

Shimmer is the expert butt-scratcher of the house. Every day you'll see her line herself up to something, and back up to it and then proceed to lift her hind end up and down, up and down.  I think she needs her very own back-up beeper and I'm sure her hind end is ripped from all the squats she does! But it could be anything - bottom edge of the table, second shelf of the microwave stand, curtains, bottom of my computer chair, a leg...whatever she can back up (I picture a "Beeep....beeep....beeep" as she does it) her butt to, she'll scratch it! The curtains so far have been the funniest.

Zipper's the guy who does the "OMG mom/dad's home run to the door....omg they're here....omg, omg, better go grab a toy (runs off to find the nearest toy).....omg better go see mom".  Always goes to retrieve a toy when you get home and gallop around with it in his mouth, to redirect his excitement to.

Luke is also a Cavalier retriever. He fetches with himself too. He likes to take stuff up on the couch, drop it back down, grab it again, and repeat.

Bevo is a Starbucks fanatic.  He LOVES pumpkin spice latte.  There's nothing quite as funny or annoying as walking back to the vehicle after pumping gas to find Bev with a latte mustache, & an empty cup.

Cher sleeps on things.  As a puppy, she slept on the coffee table.  As she's matured, she's decided that the kitchen counter is the best sleeping spot in the house.  She has went as far as to try to sleep on top of the fridge, which is a pretty scary thing to walk into.

Angel is a toy tosser.  Every night, while we eat dinner, she sprints around the living room, toy in mouth.  She launches it up into the air, catches it, & barks & growls at it.  If we have a ceiling fan going, she tosses the toy up into the fan so that she can chase it down.  Aside from dinner time, she's not a toy dog.  She only plays when she has an audience.

Brutus was the only dog I knew who could lose a treat in his lips.  We used to tuck treats in his lips while he slept.  When he woke up, he would find one & be super excited that the "treat fairy" came while he was asleep.  He would never find all of the treats that we had tucked in, immediately.  It usually took him anywhere from 35-45 minutes to find 3 treats.  Each time, he'd get OMGHAPPY because he found a treat.

Cher is also the only dog who adores the dremmel.  Since puppyhood, she's loved having her nails done, & she'll happily bring the dremmel to you in order to get what she wants.  Some of you heard on FB, but I'll tell the story here....A few weekends ago, Cher woke me up but sitting in the middle of my stomach & dropping something onto me.  The something, was the dremmel.  There's no worse feeling than being ripped from your sleep by a 70 pound dog crushing your insides, unless it's a 70 pound dog crushing your insides & dropping a running dremmel tool on you.  It was an awesome way to start my Saturday morning. Trust me......

I think I have the only dog... where I can leave my entire meal and drink alone unattended in a room and Gracie will not touch it.

Neither does she touch the 40lb bag of dog food she's left with every day

    • Gold Top Dog

We might have the only large breed dog over 65lbs that not only allows but *enjoys* being carried around on his back like a baby!  He's too big and heavy for me but DH hoists him up and carries him around the house and Coke just hangs there like a limp ragdoll.

Think twice about that. Chuck does not touch any food on the table while we show our friends our house. He knows if he behaves he will get some scraps Smile. He loves apples and there is a plate with them on the table every day of the week. We go to work and when we come back all the apples are there untouched Cool

Except I leave my food on low tables that G has immediate access to - she doesn't have to get up to table level to steal if she wanted to.  She just doesn't.  I leave her alone in my car w/my sandwich - doesn't touch it.
