I have the only dog who...

I have the only dog ever who will drink your drink right out of your glass.

In my house you cannot leave your glass of anything for more than 4 seconds or it will either have Chief's tongue in it or it will be spilled everywhere.  I have never had a dog do this before, it's just so strange to me.

So what does your dog do that you've never seen before?

You aren't alone- kind of.  I've caught Caleb drinking out of my glass of lemonade a couple of times.  And Mick would drink your coffee if you didn't tell him not to.  I'll never forget the day we were at Tball, and Mick crawled under my chair, pushed my travel mug over and was drinking the coffee that dribbled out.

Caleb's odd claim to fame is sticking his a back foot in his mouth with his toes facing his throat and sucking on it.

Oh my dogs will do that -- I've had a couple who had a HUGE love for iced tea (and I don't drink it sweet either!), or a CUP of tea (herbal or regular).

Sometimes I think I've seen it all LOL  I'll think of something for later

We used to have a cat who would knock over any glass left on the table to drink it if it was too low or small to stick his head in and drink that way. I don't think Luke does anything I've never seen another dog do though.

I've caught Marley drinking out of my cup several times...hes like "mm flavored water!" haha

Something strange Marley does that I havent seen any of my other dogs do is look at birds or airplanes flying by in the sky. When Marley was a puppy, my ex always said that he was watching them because he was looking up since he was a puppy and so small....nope, he still stares at them as they fly by. I always wonder what he is thinking....

well according to Bugsy anything in the air is a bird. And it is essential that you keep your eye on them!  Helicopters are most interesting. The funniest is when the Chinook helicopters fly over - they always seem really low and the look B has is totally a prey drive thing.  I believe he thinks they are very large dragonflies Wink

LOL Chief, Bugsy will drink out of a cup if offered but not seek them out hehehehe his favorite and one you do need to watch is beer.

Jetta's preferred drink is from a glass!! Sometimes she'll sniff her water bowl and walk up to me whining for something tastier. She loves ice tea, or just plain ice water, as long as it's in a fancy cup!

I'm glad to know I'm not alone!  Chief can be in a dead sleep (or a perceived dead sleep) and if I getup and walk out of the room, he is up in .5 seconds with his face in my cup!  He really amazes me sometimes.

One night I left an icy just poured full glass of Dr. B (HEB grocery brand similar to Dr. Pepper) sitting on the floor while I got up to check laundry.  When I came back it was half empty!  The only one up was my then 2 year old cairn.  He spent the next several hours running around the house and playing with his toys.  I am sure the caffeine kept him going.  I never do that any more!

....is the neighborhood thief.  He has brought home many items of clothing over the last couple of years, he has brought home 2 teddy bears, one of which is the only toy he wants to play with :)  I have tried to give him new toys but he will drop them after a few minutes and go find his teddy.   I am not sure where his teddy is havent seen it in a few weeks.   I try not to let him take it outside although apparantly someone left it outside for his taking :)   Yesterday I saw something black laying in all the fall leave decided I better make sure it was not a bird.  Nope....it's a new "black teddy bear" with a stocking cap this time.   I have alerted all the neighbors to the fact that if they leave their clothes or shoes or teddy bears laying around outside and they come up missing....call me, I have a lost and found box.   The good part of this little habit is that he doesnt chew them up, he is just bringing them to me so he can take them to the laundry basket.

Piper is a lush. Given a chance, she knocks over the beer bottle and laps from the floor. Sam Adams is a favorite. She will drink cold coffee from a cup and soda from glasses, from the dash holder.

Max doesn't try to drink out of my cup although he will lap up something  that lands on the floor.  Years ago when we moved out of student housing, we had a neighbor who had a really cute little beagle named Charlotte.  One day we had the front door open and the screen door was slightly ajar.  DH had fixed himself a hot dog in a bun and a glass of iced tea and sat down on the sofa.  Charlotte came bounding through the door, jumped up on the sofa and litterally sucked the hot dog right out of the bun, leaned over and took a slurp of tea and ran back outside again.  Her owner was mortified, but it was just too darn cute to be upset about.

Max kind of knows if I'm using a fork or spoon or holding it in my hand he'll get some, but if I'm drinking it he's out of luck.

Tink will attack my purse like it is full of the finest gourmet items. Food?  doesn't have to be.  I have lost more pairs of glasses in the past 6 months because she will go into my purse and take OUT my glasses and schlepp them all over the house and hide them.  Soft glasses case? Maybe (gotta be -- I can't carry anything heavy).

I NEED my purse in the bathroom (cos of various meds I have to take).  I'll get her to stop and think we've licked the problem and suddenly glasses will go missing.  I never carry gum nor   normal purse stuff because the Pug is a THIEF!!! *grin*

Luna is the *only* dog I've ever known with long droopy ears who is **willing** to have her ears pulled.  She LETS Tink swallow most of her ear flap and the pug will drag her full speed around the house and yard.  It's play -- yes.  But most floppy eared dogs do *not* want their ears pulled -- Luna seems to absolutely adore it.  I've seen her stand and let Tink *chew* on her ear (way up at the top where the cartilage is) no problemo!  Is it love for the pug or is it love of the attention?

I know this isn't completely unique, but *I* have never had a dog before who would run, with GREAT joy, as soon as he sees you (Charlie) and grab a TOY and bring it to you.

Once he's greeted you, he'll drop that one and go find another one and come to you time after time with several toys.  He's not really wanting you to play with the toy (altho that's nice if you do) -- it's more that he wants to BRING you something.  It's incredibly sweet.  But it makes us both giggle and we both always comment on it to him.

This is what Rocky does with his "stolen" teddy bear.  If bear is not available it is a towel or blanket, he wants you to know he is "on the job" :)

... goes up the stairs backwards! We have a bi-level house - when you walk in you either go a half flight of stairs up or down. The main level is upstairs. When we come home, Rupert runs down the stairs to greet us (with a stuffy in his mouth of course.) He keeps his head towards us, then hops backwards up the stairs. Smile
