I am no expert, but they look like they could be baby opossums. They look recently born. I found this link, hopefully it may help
    [linkhttp://www.awrc.org/Baby%20Opossums.htm]Raising Baby Opossums[/link]

I don't have any experience with babies so small. In the past I have tried to save baby birds that fall out of the nest, but have never succeeded. I think its tough to try and save wild animals in general, but when they are so young I would think that would be really hard.

    Good Luck!!

"If you have found a baby possum, KEEP IT WARM with a heating pad set on LOW or a warm water bottle or put in your shirt. Baby possums cannot make their own body heat so they need you, especially if they have little to no hair. An aquarium makes a good home. Make baby a nest out of tissues and or something soft. A toboggan/ or sweatshirt sleeve works great for a nest, fill it with the soft stuff and set on the heat. make sure baby is not getting too hot. If so, raise off heat by putting a towel between the nest and the heat.

If your baby is without hair, keep it warm and try to keep hydrated by giving it some type of liquid (warm Pedialyte, Gatorade, or worst case scenario watered down milk) applesauce does well too, if you do not have anything else (but only for a day , maximum two days).

Try to find a licensed possum rehabilitator in your area to take the baby ASAP. Call your vets, any natural science center or zoo. Also look in the phone book under wildlife. If you cannot find a rehabber, call or e-mail me as to what State, County and Area Codes are around you, and I may can get you someone to help.

If you CANNOT find anyone to help, then you need to take matters into your own hands to try and save the baby. Go to a pet store and buy a can of POWDERED Esbilac puppy's milk replacer (no other brand). Get as small a nipple and bottle or syringe as you can find. Mix 1 scoop powder with 4 scoops WARM water, stir well. Nurse baby at least 4-6 times per day.

After baby eats, you need to stimulate baby with a tissue or Q-tip (damp) to make him/her potty. They should urinate and poop at least every other time you feed. This is very important because they can get an intestinal blockage and die if they do not. ( NOTE: IF they start to look like they are very swollen, they have a problem with a blockage, try and stimulate them to potty. If they do not, put them in a SHALLOW tray of WARM water to walk around in, that usually helps stimulate them to potty. )

Once their eyes are open and they are fuzzy and walking well , you can put their milk mix in a shallow lid and put them around the food so they can lap it by themselves. Make sure everyone does eat. You can sweeten the milk with applesauce. Then make sure you help them potty or watch them potty on their own."

We found 2 baby squirrels in our yard after a big storm. We called a Wild life rehabber.
They won't last long without their mother, so you should figure out what you're going to do soon. If you keep them your probably going to need spescial formula to feed them. . . . I don't think just regular milk is good for them. Oh and I deffinetly don't think they were born early, animals like that are usualy pretty small like that when they're born.

Amy - contact a Wildlife Rehabillitator.  I'm not sure if you're still in NOLA or outside, but this website says there is/was one in Kenner:

    Or the LSU vet college.
DO NOT FEED THEM - until you know what they are and what they should eat.  Keep them warm.  Call an emergency vet if you have to, to ask advice.

My mother found a baby squirrel that looked alot like that.  She was dumb and gave in cow's milk - don't do that out of desparation please.

Anyways,  when she took it to a rehabilitation center (3 weeks after she found it and cared for it) they said they'd have to put it to sleep because she kept it too long and it's too used to humans, so take it to a wildlife center immediatly.

A vet will probably have a phone # for someone who rehabilitates wild animals.

Ahhh!  I think its a squirrel!

I thought opossum until I saw that squirrel pic.. their mouths look JUST like that and they ahve little tiny whiskers thats the only hair...

We did contact a wildlife rescue they said we can bring them in tomorrow.  I would love to raise them but I cant... I know they would be better off at a rescue where they can be raised in a way that they will be released with the right skills.  I just hope they live...

I need to go see what to feed baby squirrels.

They are newborn squirrels most likely.  Call a wildlife rehabilitator and make sure you keep them very warm

Phew!  Glad to hear you found some help!
Good for you and your mom for saving them, despite those nasty bulldozers.  I'm sorry you guys are still dealing with all of that, btw.  I came down back in Sept to help out w/the Red Cross and I hear from my co-horts who went back again last week that very little has changed.  Keeping you in our thoughts.

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to say that it's so wonderful that you're helping them.
