Too soon Monday MC

    Too soon Monday MC

Groan.  I've been fighting being awake since around 4.  Time changes always mess me up for at least a week.  That extra hour of sleep really isn't worth it.  While it's nice having morning sunshine, getting dark so danged early messes with my sense of what time it is.

And, with the radio auction on both Friday and Saturday, the weekend was just far too short.  But, at least we have beautiful sunshine today, and supposedly somewhat warmer temps, but it's going to take a while to get to those since we had a hard frost last night.  Want to get more of the leaves mulched today and get the boy to go out in the woods with me.

Need to go into the office for just a bit to check on things, restock at the library and stop by and pay the car insurance.  And then off to the woods.  I love going out and collecting firewood.  Yeah, I know, I'm wierd!  LOL.  There is a LOT of downed birch, much of it new fallen since the snow storm, and birch dries very quickly and has such a wonderful scent when it burns.......and I've already staked out a bunch of other wood ready for the taking.  We are very, VERY lucky that the farmer couldn't care less about the downed wood and is probably glad to get rid of it!  With my Scots heritage, I find actually having to PAY for wood a bit objectionable.  OK, a LOT objectionable.

Off to get a few things done so I can go outside and play!  Have a great day all.

It's all in the perspective Glenda - I am so happy for the light mornings that I didn't mind being wide awake at 4:58 - I got up after 15 minutes or so and got the day started.  I feel the hour much more in the evening.  I want dinner early  (5) and am ready to settle down and chill out about 7.  Ah soon enough we'll adjust

So DH has decided the transmission has gone on our washer - time for a new one or........ there is a rumor that Maytag has a 10yr warranty on the transmission.  So i'll be researching Maytag transmission warranties and inexpensive washing machines LOL

I was thrilled and stunned that the Giants won last night - we were missing so many key players and playing a great team so no way I would have said we'd pull it out

Made a nice beef roast last night and an apple, peach, mixed berry crumble.  YUMMY!  This is why I love cooler weather - cooking is so much more enjoyable!

I am actually happy for the time change.  I know I know I am in the minority.  But I look at it this way, once the time changes we are closer to the winter solstice.  Once winter solstice is here the days start getting longer!!!  Wheeee.

Yes, I am know I am weird.

Riley, Charlie, Hubs and I actually adjust fairly easily to change.  Riley especially.  Even when we go out to California, it takes her maybe a 1/2 day to adjust to the time difference and then she is ready to go.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.

I was just checking out washers yesterday. They are freaking expensive!

I took the dogs for a walk to go pay my lawn mower man last night and abbie turned into anxiety dog again. She can't handle leash walks in the neighborhood. She acts like something is going to jump out and attack her at any moment. Its so sad that she can't enjoy a normal walk like a normal dog. Her anxiety moment are fewer and farther between though so thats positive, i guess.

Time change doesn't bother me either way, not as if I can stop it.

Deb, if you're out there, I'm guessing you didn't have Drosselmeyer since I'm not sitting on a tropical island w/ you and some cabana boys.  LOL

Karen, I'm right there with you  on the fall foods.  I know that a lot of people enjoy soups any time of the year, but, to me, soup is a cooler weather food, the heartier the soup, the better.  Stews, roasts, all of that is perfect for this time of year, and not so perfect for any other time.  In hotter weather, all I really want to eat is salads and veggies anyway, but then, I've always been a little extreme in things!

If I might offer a word of advise on washing machines....Sis has a front loader, energy whatever that her DH researched to death.  She hates it.  Says she's looking forward to the day she can go back to a top loader....and probably feeling very guilty about wishing the front loader ill!  I've never had one, but I haven't liked the ones I've used at the laundramat so......

well I am determined to find a reasonably priced one LOL We have a few scratch and dent places locally and I am NOT interesting in the $1000 front loading machines.  I know this will sound horrible but I am not overly concerned about reducing water use - we don't pay for water (private well) and don't use a ton of water.  I need to find the manual from our unit to check about the transmission BUT I bet someone will still charge $250 or more to replace the old one.  That makes little sense to me but we'll see.

eta Glenda just saw your washer input - I know way too many peeps unhappy with their latest and greatest top loader

Re Abbie's anxiety I am sorry to hear she struggles near your home but perhaps there is a particular scent that works her up?  You know I have mentioned how certain times of the year or certain scent trails make B nuts perhaps she is experiencing the same?

I am being gassed by you know who Ick!

I got your text about Hanson, was laughing my butt off!  Game on Dude, yeah, he did good.  Too bad he didn't win - would've been sweet for the female jockey.

So far it's been a slow day at work so I've had time to catch up a bit. My office is a disaster.

First cup of coffee from the new Keurig is tasting pretty yummy! I love coffee but never made it because I only drink one cup so I never felt like making a whole pot.

The manufacturers may offer warranty on a part but normally the person who makes the repair has to charge for their labor unless they're a non profit organization, lol.  It's not like they're being paid by the manufacturer to do the work.  Being on this side of the issue many times in our work, I hear this sort of "complaint" often.  I try and explain to people that we didn't sell the product and thus made no profit and have little motivation to work for free.  The exception is for products that are still in the first year warranty period as many manufacturers offer parts and labor for the first year.  Good luck on your search for a new machine or your pursuit of the transmission warranty.

The dogs don't get the time change.  They're all ready to get up and have breakfast at 4:00 am.  *yawn*

We're still looking for a tech but the choices have been pretty bad so far.

I've got lab work later today.  Belle needs to go back to the vet as soon as I can get her scheduled.  sigh

Oh I know that is why I would pursue getting a new washer but you-know-who will want to know about the cost of repair.  To me it makes no sense to spend a bunch of money on a nearly 8 yr old washer. ah well

    Morning all

Well I guess I am the only person in NWA that didnt feel the earthquakes over the weekend :)  I didnt know about them til Mom and Dad called from Oklahoma.  Guess I was sleeping pretty good huh?

About your washer Karen, I have an appliance repairman that had done very reasonable work for us for many years and he is awesome.  He has allowed me to keep my older and very well made appliances.  I have a Maytag Washer and a Whirlpool Dryer that were bought used 10+years ago.  I would much rather have him come fix them as to buy new ones.  Last time was the dryer and he only charged me 100.00 with trip/labor/parts.   He has taken care of my appliances for 25 years.  Sadly he informed me that the new fridge that I bought was not going to be one that he will work on.   I was afraid of that but after researching all the new ones for 3 years this was the one I wanted.

Well the kid that was supposed to come help me cut downed trees has not shown up and has not called.  Grrrrrr so I guess I am back to the drawing board on wood.  I only have about 1/2 rick left to start the winter.  The Electric company is coming tomorrow to give our house a good going over.  This usually costs money but due to someone or several someone's dropping the ball last summer I get it for free.   The appt was scheduled the 1st week of Sept.  This guy is supposed to figure out why I pay as much as someone with a mansion or at least several chicken houses. (That is by the way how they measured my usage, they asked how many chicken houses we had :) )

It's raining like crazy!  It's getting busy here so I better go!

    Have a great day all
