Crashing tree limbs . . . . check.
Exploding transformers . . . . . check.
Blaring sirens and emergency notifications from police cars . . . . check.
Power outages . . . . . . check.
Another warm and fuzzy weekend in the great State of NJ . . . . priceless.
Swweet - us too. I laughed when the fire trucks went down the street w/lights & sirens blaring in BOTH directions.
Meanwhile, what I thought were transformers blowing causing weird light in the sky - was actually snow lightning. The only time I ever saw that before was in Denver. The sky lit up green and blue - like 4th of July Fireworks when it's cloudy out!
Our house power was out Sat evening until 3:30am this morning - I saw the cable guys out yesterday so that was restored before we had power to use it. lol What a blessing every one of those power workers and plow drivers are. Shoot, this morning I went to leave for work and the same two plow guys came by and waved at me b/c they recognized me from Saturday. (my friend's ex-husband's car was in the way and he tried to move the car, but forgot he'd left his emergency brake on. The plow drivers and I laughed at him as he tried to skid down the road on two moving tires.)
Our office lost power, but was on generators. For some reason, it never occurred to me they might be closed today - this place only closes if there's a declared state of emergency by the State of NH. So, good thing power was restored about 6:30 this morning so people could come to work. We have showers and freezers for people to store their food, etc. It's been a tough weekend for a lot of people - plenty of coworkers still don't have power.
I just keep thinking... Colonial New Englanders did this EVERY SINGLE DAY OF WINTER.... amazing. Reading by candle light last night in a house built in 1790 made me feel very "colonial" myself. hahaha!
