Looks like we'll have a visitor for a while (foster) - (Callie)

Yeah -- I finally realized events had just conspired so that I hadn't had the opportunity to go into "help mode" to cope with his loss.  It feels good to ME to be excited about something.

I think I could have probably knocked her over with a feather when I told her we'd still take her.

It was also an **excellent** excuse to go to Leavesandroots.com to order some oils (not that I've been wanting to TRY anything new mind you ...)

Callie, that is one very, very lucky little girl.  She couldn't have a better foster mom if she had one made to order. Smile

Hi Callie, I haven't posted in months but I lurk frequently. I've been busy with nearly finishing graduate school (dear lord, I am teaching undergraduates this year!!) and with taking care of Dolly. I'm glad you're going to have the opportunity to help out that sweet little dog! As you probably understand all too well, I still miss my Chloe, but Dolly has snuggled her way into my heart. I love her, differently, but no less. Smile I hope this little girl helps you to heal from your loss. Hugs!

She has such a sweet face. I'm so glad that you're going to take her. It will be great to read updates on her progress. Yay!

Talked to Dr. Bailey today so *he* is on board cos I'll need to get her up to him a.s.a.p. to determine what's really going on with the eyes, ears, etc.  she's a cocker so there could be a history of huge long ear infections -- or she could just have dirty ears!  Once I get my hands on her ...

yeah - I *am* excited LOL

What a sweetie - grats to you and to her, looking forward to hearing updates!

    When does she arrive????

    • Gold Top Dog

Just checking in for some news!  Any news???

    • Gold Top Dog

I suspect the woman is busy for the holiday weekend -- I haven't heard anything since Saturday.

If all goes as planned we'll (David, me, Luna & Tink) drive down next Saturday *the 10th) -- Lauderdale is about 4 hours away and I don't know yet if we'll meet or go all the way down.

I still need some answers (like what group she's with, etc.) and whether I'll have to place her down there or will they let *me* look for the right home for her.

Trust me -- you guys are gonna know when *I* know something LOL

Callie, I have NO doubt this girl needs to be with you.  that being said, I suspect she may become a "permanent foster", IYKWIM.

Does she have a name yet? We needs pics AS SOON AS YOU GET HER!!! Good luck, Callie.   Little one, you have just lucked out and found the most awesome people on the planet to help you!

This lady has been out of communication for the weekend ... *sigh*

    • Gold Top Dog

Aw, she is such a pretty girl!  I'm completely confident that she'll get a great foundation w/ you two, and I'm excited for her (and you guys, so I hope that woman calls/messages soon!

    • Gold Top Dog

I got an email from her this morning -- she's terrified that she'll let me have this dog and I'll change my mind and decide we don't want her if she's incontinent, so this lady is trying to resolve it **with medication** before she will agree to send her to me.

grrr  Proin would be a last effort for me -- and this lady isn't looking for a UTI or training issues -- she's jumping straight to medicine?  I'm fizzing.

I  just spent an hour on the phone with this woman.  She took her to the vet today and the vet thinks she has Cushings (which is why she's drinking so much and having to urinate so much).  But he has NOT done a bile acids test and she wants him to do more testing to find out.

*sigh* She's convinced that we can't possibly want to take a dog who has problems.  That there will be monthly medications (both for dry eye and the Curshings).

I hope I finally have her convinced that we really aren't typical and that if it turns out she *does* have Cushings and she's not placeable that we'd keep her (and we would make darned sure she'd have the best care possible).

It's a good thing I already feel this dog has a *purpose* in being with us.

I know we're not "normal" -- but I've never had a completely "normal" dog in my life and I don't know as I a want to start now.   It's the uniqueness that makes them special.  To see how well we can deal with Cushings (if that IS what it is -- I don't like that he's jumped to this conclusion without a bile acids test) and we'll go from there.

She's trying to be cautious because she thinks we can't be serious.  But if I drive FOUR HOURS to go see this dog I want her assurance that she'll let us take her and have her make a decision.

I think she's completely overwhelmed that she rescued this dog from a high kill shelter and had it turn out that the dog has such 'expensive' problems.  But I think we're this dog's best option!  We'll see.

The Universe knows this is supposed to be. The lady's just having a hard time getting the message. We'll send some of those magic iDog vibes to help her understand. Dear Mrs. Rescue Lady, Thank you for rescuing this special dog from the shelter! She sure needed you to start her on the path to better health and her new life. Callie and Mr. Callie know how to care for special dogs...she's in super-duper good hands with them. We can't wait to see more pictures of this special girl and how she's progressing.
