Mindless Thursday

Karen reminded me that Bugsy only has one a day and a half of these antibiotics and in that case, I'd probably stop them too, at this point.  His poor tummy has had enough torture.  I told her I would publicly retract my unasked for advice and try and control myself next time.  lol

I think I'm going to have to get my ears re-peirced.  I haven't worn earrings in so long, they've almost grown closed.  I wonder if this time they could maybe get them a bit more even rather than one side quite a bit lower than the other.  I'm not afraid of most medical procedures and have a high tolerance for pain but for some reason I dread the thought of having them done again.

In that case...it's not much til he's done and I'd still give them..but that's me. I have had a dog with resistant staph and the hole in her body was enough to convince me that antibiotic resistant staph is no joke and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Again...just me. Strong memories here.

I hear ya', Gina.  We all have to make our own calls and past experiences can be hard lessons learned.

    COOLEST thing today.

I work with about 35-40 mostly Sri Lankan co-workers.  We're in a very heavy and busy phase of our project where it's like running through minefields of testing.  Each one on their own individually stood up from their work to come approach me and shake my hand to wish me a happy birthday and "Many happy returns of the day."  You don't need to pass around a card for everyone to sign, or gather around a cake.  Just knowing these hard working, extremely busy people were so thoughtful as to step away from their work for just that one moment to wish me a happy birthday was really really memorable!  GOOD STUFF!!

Today is also Gracie's Gotcha Day, so here's her baby pic from that day (I think most of you have seen it by now.)

Mine, too.  But, Kate went to go have hers re-repeirced and the technician was actually able to get a pair of earings back in with out actually re-peircing them.  Of course she had hers done by a professional and didn't do them herself with a sewing needle and a potato Embarrassed, so I'm not sure if that would work for me.

(((Gracie))) - Happy Gotcha Day!!! Party!!!

     Happy Birthday Paige!! Gift

I got a call from Katie, my friend's daughter, as soon as I got here and she asked if she could just vent. She's angry and frustrated with Sharon's husband and his selfish ways and I completely understand. Unfortunately, there's not a thing either of us can do about it. I'm so glad that Katie is there with her though. She was able to sleep in her room last night and I know that made Sharon feel good. Katie did say that Sharon is still having some chest pain and the dr. said she's not going home until that stops but they'll move her out of ICU today.

The Johnson family is settling in at the hospital in Atlanta. I think that getting rehab started for Owen and the whole family will be a really positive step. Susie said both girls have had horrific nightmares since the accident. Apparently Susie and David were knocked unconcious and don't remember much but the girls were awake thru the whole extrication and remember all of it Crying. They're starting them both in counseling soon.

I didn't get much of anything done here at the office yesterday, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. I could use a couple shots of espresso though. Sleep

OK all you Aunties - I called the vet, its OK to stop the anti-biotic!  I've been doing probiotics, rice and boiled beef, and pumpkin, nothing has helped and this morning and last night were awful.  He has no interest in food so far today at all.  Even his beloved cottage cheese. I am to give him immodium if it doesn't clear by late tomorrow.

Cathy I believe that children heal much better from trauma such as this than adults do - keep that in mind.  When I worked in social services with kids from horrific circumstances I was constantly amazed at how well they did.

Paige happy birthday and Miss Gracie you were an adorable pup and such a gorgeous girl now!  Happy gotcha day to you sweetie!

Does anyone else see the resemblance between baby Gracie and baby Gabby G?

I got so distracted by Gracie's pic that I read the part about your coworker's wishing you a happy birthday and still didn't make the connection.  Sorry Embarrassed  But I do hope that you have a wonderful birthday!

Yay for thursdays! Dipstick is doing sooo much better. His owner came to visit and is quite pleased with his outcome. She's asked that I make a list of what I'm doing so she can continue with it.

I'm in puppy mode right now so instead of picking on the breeder, I'm focusing on Maze to get her ready for the trial in September..

Good thoughts and well wishes to those who need it!

Poor Bugsy -- he's on a drug that produces exactly that same result in me -- and man, it makes you so sore.  Karen, I emailed you the slippery elm cocktail recipe -- since he's grass gorging, that will help.  This isn't *just* diarrhea -- there's a specific side effect to that drug that causes such severe stomach/intestinal distress and it is NASTY and debilitating. If you have a Human Pill Book (and it's in the Dog one too) look it up -- it will cite it as one of the side-effects.  It's linked to Clostridium Difficile, which can happen with *any* antibiotic, but it's nearly classic with this one and it can morph into something worse easily.

Does the vet know he's having such severe diarrhea?  sounds like you've discussed it with him, but I'm just checking.  Last time I had to take it (and sometimes you just plain DO) I thought I'd was gonna die for about 2-3 weeks afterward.

Given that he's grass-gorging, I'm guessing it's causing severe heartburn as well and that can last up to 3-4 days beyond the last pill.  They even tell humans *not* to lie down after they take that one.

Gina & Cita, I'm totally hearing you -- you are absolutely right about not stopping abx early -- and this one is a catch 22 thing -- you're darned if you do and darned if you don't.

Hope Bugsy starts feeling better.  So yesterday I started an all fruit and veggie diet not to lose weight but if I lost a few pounds I wouldn't mind. I did cheat yesterday afternoon I had one slice of pizza hut pan pizza yea I know bad me but that's the only thing I cheated with. Today so far so good, but these carrots are nasty with no ranch dressing lol.

Tomorrow is Daisy's 15th Birthday Cake
