Tropical Tuesday

    Tropical Tuesday

Music  We're havin' a heat wave......a tropical heat wave..........  Music

And I am not much enjoying it. No

Foundation couldn't hold back the torrential downpours on Friday and Saturday.  Significan water in basement.  Removed carpet from worst room.  Pulled up carpet in rest of basement and removed the padding.  Bought a dehumidifier and fans.  We may have salvaged the carpet, but now the question is "how do we prevent this in the future" and "what type of flooring should we put back in".  We are not certain we want to go with carpet again.

    Any advice or experiences ??

Other than that, I had 5 days off that went nothing like I planned.  I am now working the next 9 days straight.  We have contractors coming this week for quotes and discussions on various things.  It's hotter than hell and Baily has barely been outside.  Yesterday I gave him an RMB in the dining room to chew off some energy.

Keeping Bugsy on my mind today with excellent surgery vibes.   Yes

GOOD LUCK BUGSY AND KAREN !!!  (Yes, I'm shouting).

Mindy, do you have a sump pump?  I would not re-floor with carpeting, but I am on a crawl space, so take that FWIW.

Positive surgery vibes for Bugsy and extreme calming ones for Karen & DH.

I'm busier than a one-armed man hanging wallpaper, so must disappear for now.

Bugsy and his mom and dad are very much on my mind and heart.

Healthy thots for Bugsy, and calming ones for Karen and DH.

I don't want to be awake.  I don't want to do a thing today, but, such is life.

thanks ladies - he's probably in surgery now - won't be able to pick him up until after 5 - long day ahead

long hot day ahead - two more days until we have AC back

not much else to say - my desk has what feels like a million *urgent* things to do but I just can't right now.  Might take a nap and then get to work

You all must think I need mental help (which I might) because this has just really rocked me, it really does feel like the straw that broke the camel's back

Karen, you are a loving, concerned mom and of course this has rocked you.  You don't need "mental help" so much as you need some big hugs and a happy outcome to the surgery.

Not at all.  When Jamison had his histiocytoma Jackie and Tina both literally talked me off the ledge because I was such a mess.  We all, especially members of this board, know that our dogs are members of our family.  It would be "abnormal" in my opinion if you didn't care/feel as deeply as you do.  Just remember that we are all here for you and you can reach out to any of us whenever you need to.  We, as a forum, understand.

No, we think you an award winning, outstanding, fantastic Dog Mom who loves the beast who brings you pure happiness.  You've been through a lot lately with the boy...and this latest is enough to break ANY camel's back.  On top of that...any type of house renovation is STRESSFUL.

But, know that you have an enormous support system and we are sending boatloads of positive thoughts to you and yours.

So true.  I'd give anything to be of some real help but all we can do is hold you up with our love and support.  (((Karen)))

Thinking of you all week karen, but especially today. Just keep yourself busy.

No kidding on the heat wave. You would think that being way the heck up in houghton, mi it would be at least 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the world but np. It was about 100 yesterday. Not sure how today will be but im hoping for overcast at least.

I have a bit of a headache after last nights pub crawl. So glad we scheduled this morning as our sleep in day.

I think i need more aspirin.

This hotel we are in is out of this world. The tv is like the first color tv ever built its so old. No remote! We passed over the brand new ramada on the water for this dump. One of the guys wanted to relive his college days...........

I agree 1000%.  Karen we are all here for you and you are not crazy.  You are reacting like any of us would.

It's hot here too, but frankly I will take it any day compared to the dark depressing winter.  I also have AC at work and home so it isn't that bad.  Zumba should be fun tonight with no AC though!  Talk about a sweatbox!

Had dinner with my oldest dearest friend last night - been friends for 36 of my 38 years.  Riley scored big time too.  She gave me three huge playsets (weebles) a complete kiddie video game system with 8 games and two dance game board things, plus three massive boxes of designer clothes.

That got me motivated so I packed up a bunch of Riley's too small things and some toys so I am dropping them off to my other girlfriend who has a two year old.  I love recycling!

Riley's speech therapist says she is making excellent progress which makes me so happy.  We found another arthritis site on her though - her left ankle.  She isn't due back to U of M until September though.  I called and they said she is at the max dosage for her weight and since it isn't really bothering her to just wait and see until we can get it then.  They are right, the only thing I will allow them to do is the oral meds (no steriods for us please), so its just a wait and see.

Everyone have a great day and stay cool.

    XOXO to Karen and Bugsy!

    Boo!

I'm freaking out a little bit about the possibility of our government defaulting on their debt.  Good grief, we JUST got the VA financial aid squared away; and now we have the possibility of that AND Social Security being cut out.

On a brighter note, we bought Mom a new chair (can't remember if I told you this).  It has a hand control so that she can lift the footrest with ease.  Its also a body lifter if she ever might need that in the future.  We are asking her not to use that right now, so she can use her own strength to raise out of the chair.

When we took the chair to her on Sunday, I noticed her ankles were extremely swollen.  The doctor had told her she needs to keep her feet elevated to help this issue.  He also wanted her to start wearing those stockings that help with circulation.  She really does not want to wear those.

Yesterday, I called her and asked her if she was having any trouble with the chair or the control.  She told me that she LOVES the chair and she is already getting used to the control.  She also informed me that the swelling has already subsided.  Good news!
