Tuesday chat

Morning Everyone! Busy day here. Its a stormy/windy kind of day too. Hopefully the rain holds off a little bit tonight. My MIL is coming over with their lab, Ruger for a play date. Should be interesting...she doesn't have very good manners!

DH is grilling for my birthday tonight, wonder what he's got on the menu. Last night we attempted our first grilled pizza, turned out great. I also had my best friend over and she brought me a bottle of wine from a Door County Winery. Its a blueberry merlot, can't wait to try it!

 You all already know this but Jackie is a genius  

While I can't vouch for Jackie being a dog genius, she is, nonetheless a genius in my book.  On her advice, I bought a charcoal chimney starter this past weekend and it worked like a champ.  I have to say I was impressed.

I am going nuts between validation and re-validation and re-inventing the wheel that nobody has the time to do... *sigh*.  I really want to tick some things off my list as done, but they just keep getting heaped on and reworked.

I'll second that.  I think it's well on the way to the predicted 101 today, but it's only supposed to be for a couple of days and then back to mid 90s and maybe high 80s by the end of the week.  I can live with that.

DS #1 wanted me to meet him and his SO at Home Depot in West Sacramento last night at 6:30 - just what I love to do most - drive across the causeway in rush hour traffic and goG awful heat.  I had already told him that when the owners of the condo they're in pulled up the really old, crappy carpeting and put in the parquet floors I'd get them an area rug. They found a 5 X 7 but I was able to convince them that one that size wasn't really going to cover enough of the floor to give a baby much crawling space, so they got the same thing in 8 X 10. The price surprised me.  I didn't think you could get a really nice area rug that size for $117. Of course it wouldn't fit in their car with the baby seat in back, but it fit in mine because we could poke it up through the sun roof.  I always knew that roof would come in handy for something.

You should look around, it can actually be really inexpensive to have a decorator some in for a 30 minute to an hour consult and tell you exactly what to pick out.  That's how we picked all the colors in our house years ago and it cost me like $45.  Money well spent in my opinion!  She told me which color granite and tile etc as well.

 thanks Sarah it isn't the colors- that we've done.  I suppose it is the spaced out custom cabinet makers -  DH and I are the type show me something along the lines of what we like and bang decision made.  We are not the hemming and hawing type.  We spent way too long with these two only to be no further along.  So I sent them photos and they came back with why those would be hard to make, really???? Great I'll by pre-made and save myself time and money.  i just sent an email to the contractor saying I didn't think they were a good fit - we need some proactive folk.  And really just get a tub that fits the space and wala we're ready to roll

Small pleasures -- from my leftover water that I heat for my morning decaf, I made a small amount of Constant Comment tea and then poured that over ice during "lunch" (hotdog -- I'm generously calling that "lunch";).  NOW I have iced Constant Comment and honestly that may just get me thru the afternoon!   I must remember to do that more often.

It's been cold and rainy/dreary here the past few days. I'm ready for the nice weather again. Supposed to be nice this weekend, though.

I had a pretty productive morning. I didn't have much work to do, so I got the dishes washed (non-dishwasher kind), dishwasher emptied, and bathroom cleaned, which was way overdue.

I'd totally vote Jackie for President, as long as GabbyG is vice!

I was going to post more, but Leslie just killed me with lamby cuteness.

Ah, I hear ya.  I waited until the night before I was meeting with our closet guys to sketch up my ideasa nd discuss with the hubs.  They only made a few minor changes for the better, but I am really into that kind of thing too.  I have been deciding how I want to change the layout of our two side by side bathrooms for months now...and that project isn't even on the horizon yet.  I think letting the contractor know it isn't a good fit was a probably a good idea.  As much as these guys do cabinets etc, they should be able to help guide you at least a little as well!  At least that was my experience. 

Just a quick note.  I just posted an Adoption Day for the Joplin Tornado animals.   There is a link.  Obviously there are so many wonderful dogs but one of them look like a Leo....not sure but I did put the Dogs # in the post under Dogs needing homes.

I'll tell ya, I could really get into this vacation stuff!  Went in for 2.5 hours this morning, well before DH was even up, got 3 more file drawers sorted through and purged of what they didn't need, and was home by about 11.  And, have been lazy the balance of the day.

I guess Joyce because you are nearer the coast 101 isn't as miserable as it was in the center of the Central Valley (Merced).  No humidity or not, that just about killed me!

Karen, you're going to pay for this. LOL!  GabbyG would make a great politician, Jano.  She's always got something to say even when it's just gibberish. :)  She even babbles in her sleep and is doing it right now.  I guess if I'm going to run for prez, I need to set up my offshore accounts and contact everyone in my past to make sure they're ready to "meet the press".   I'm sure my crazy youth will only enhance my image and I can get DH a complete makeover with campaign funds.  Right, Newt?
