Car/cellphone question - can you charge your phone in your car if everything is turned off (engine & accessory)? DH seemed sure I should be able to but if I can, I can't figure out how.

I have an accessory plug that is "hot" all the time and my phone can be charged even with the car off.  I can tell it's hot because when I plug my phone in it tells me it's charging.   I don't know what you meant that you can't figure out how to charge it.  Do you not use a cigarette type plug to plug your phone charger into?  

Yes, I use the same type of cigarette plug/charger and mine doesn't continue to charge once the car is off but our Explorer does. I have a 2nd cigarette charger thingy in the console and thought maybe that one stayed hot but nope, it's the same. I also have some plugs for usb connectors and one that's a plug for like a headphone jack, but I can't figure out how either of those would be used to charge the phone. I posted the question on the Lexus owner's forum, so I'll see what they say. It just seems odd that the car wouldn't have that feature, right?

No kidding, especially a Lexus.  I guess Ford really did have a better idea. lol  I drive an Expedition.

I'm about to claw someone at work if they don't stop pushing me off.  This has to get resolved - I can't keep telling my boss "HD is working on it" - when they're evidently not.  I painted my nails w/crackle paint this weekend and I feel like dragging them through someone's skin.  (I wonder if I'm a little hormonal this week, but I shouldn't be... Just frustrated.)

The 12-volt power outlets in Lexus vehicles are not electrically alive unless the vehicle is in ACC or Ignition-on mode. To clarify, the engine must be running, or the instrumentation and accessories must be powered on for the power outlets to provide electrical current to your cell phone charger. Regarding the forum ... I just type in dog.com forum and it takes me right to the forum, bypassing the home page. I've never had a problem with it except when the forum was actually down for some reason.

I'm ready to strangle one of my friends right now :-p I hosted a cookout tonight, which was fun, except it took us almost an hour to get the fire going. We used half a bottle of lighter fluid before we finally got the thing going. friend: how was the BBQ? me: good, except apparently we suck at starting fires! friend: personally I favor lighter fluid, can usually ge the coals going without too much trouble. me: yeah, well, I guess today was not "usually." friend: how can one be bad at starting fires with lighter fluid? it, a little kindling.... could burn down a whole forest that way!

Justifiable homicide, right? Right?? :-p

IT says the downtime corresponded with them running some routine back-ups on the server.  So it's not anthing bad.  If it continues, pls let me know.  You can send me a PM so I don't miss it in MC.

Had a good training session tonight - half outdoors, half indoors.  Not looking forward to trialing in a horse arena, but so be it.  I do hate it, though, when it's been years and years that Obed/Rally has had the other building while Conf had the arena.  Now we've got it.
