    thursday chatter

Good morning! We had an entire day without rain yesterday. No humidity either! Can we go for 2 in a row? Yesterday was so exhausting. I left my house at 7:30am and didnt get home until 10pm. Have a good day everyone!

Julie, I think we are in for another day of low humidity and temps in the 70s.

I cleaned out the gutter on the back of my house last night after work.  That was yummy, all the wet, rotting leaves.  I need to see if any company makes a gutter screen for a 7-8" wide gutter; most are 6" and not enough to cover mine.

I feel worse today; someone please cut out the sore part of my throat and lungs.

Thanks for thinking of me Paige! The storms were headed right at us and turned just enough so they went just north of us...

    Good Morning !

I have two days off and a to-do list a mile long !

Baily is going to "camp" today for a three night stay.  Really, it's a boarding kennel but I keep calling it "camp".  We are 17 days from Yellowstone !!

There is an outside chance that my parents will not be coming on the trip.  Grandma fell last week and broke her arm.  She is in "transitional care" at a "skilled nursing facility" until she gets a bit better.  It's not going really well.  She doesn't like it, it's not home, it's hot and noisy, the pain meds are making her loopy....  If she cannot get back to her regular assisted living facility before we leave...Mom is going to stay behind.  Dad won't come if Mom isn't.  For many reasons, I hope Grandma can get out of this nursing home soon.

I better get my butt in gear !

Wow . . . . . . long night.  Springfield, MA is only about 12 miles from Amherst and Kate knows a lot of kids that have apartments there, so lots of phone calls, facebook and twitter updates through the night.

Then Mr. Jamison got a bug up his butt and decided he didn't feel like sleeping so no one else should either.

I'm taking a vacation day tomorrow - I have a lot of running around to do.

ETA:  I hope you feel better soon, Tina.

Has everyone checked in?  My heart breaks for those people and prayers going out to all of them.  This sort of thing doesn't happen in MA......or at least very, very rarely and it's pretty darned frightening.

And the weather today is beautiful....sunny, breezy and actually chilly after that miserable humidity.  I love summer, but gosh, a bit of spring might have been nice FIRST!  So with all the horrible storms, at least we are getting a few days of "proper" weather.  The folks who were hit need a break from Ma Nature and the crews need the clear weather to start the clean up and restoring power.

My brain just keeps coming back to it so guess I'll get ready for work and go in and write more collection letters.  That'll keep the old mind on something else for a few hours!

Julie, hope you get another day with no rain and low humidity.  Your long day tired me out just reading about it. :)  How's the new job going?

    Tina, sorry you're feeling worse.

Gutter cleaning reminded me that DH had to get on the roof the other day (eek!) to see if there was a bird nest in our chimney.  There are two nests with babies.  They are between the brick of the chimney and the liner.  We'll have to wait till the babies fledge and then seal up where they got in.  Twister is being driven insane because he can hear the babies chirping but can't see where the birds are.  The other dogs seem to grasp that the birds aren't within reach but not my little guy. Confused

Jackie I just checked and you are 70* and I am 83*, please take this weather back!!!! LOL they say tomorrow should be cooler and drier, that would be nice.

I decided this morning I was going to be positive all day long, wonder how long that will last Big Smile

Very glad that the damage and death toll wasn't worse in MA.  It's a pretty sad day when you look at the news and see '4 die in tornadoes' and you think, 'oh that wasn't too bad'

Our stone project is finally done.  I have to figure out some plants but its too hot to plant much.  DH put a teeny Japanese Maple where I wanted an ornamental grass. Ah well, fingers crossed it grows fairly quickly and survives the summer, it was not cheap and there is no way I would have put a $$$$$ plant in, in this weather.  Plenty of bare patches too and loads of mulching to do which will all happen in time.

I hope to have time to load some pics to post here

I am developing an issue with white sangria, it is just so nice in the heat after a long day

Twister you can't get to those babies, no way no how.  Well I suppose if you could convince your dad to take you to the roof..............

Jamison it isn't very nice to not let your peeps sleep.

Reminds me I am going to sell my alarm clock, Bugsy does a great job.  If we are in the 6 am mode he wakes us at 5:59 (immediately prior to alarm clock) and now after a week of getting up at 5:30 he wakes us at 5:28 (last three days)

I'm so glad the my significant others brother got out of town yesterday. He lives around central MA. I just found a coupon for Khols for 15% off, plus $40 of Khols cash. Perfect timing, I need new work clothes. I really need to food shop, we have nothing in the house, aside from some pasta and a bit of watermelon. Plus, coffee and cream since I just got more of those items. That equals a well balanced diet, right? Food shopping really is a necessary evil!

Well, I found out what the noise was from my NEW heat pump system...RATS!  They had chewed up the plastic tubing, and the noise was water hitting the ceiling of the crawl space.  So now I have a big mess down there to deal with.  My exterminator is due tomorrow for his monthly visit, so I will talk to him then.  I'm afraid to see what this is going to do to my wallet, but there is no way I'm going DIY!

I guess this explains why my humidifier hasn't been turning on either....

Wow, Marty, that's a real bummer.  I hope you can get things fixed w/out too much expense.

Until you want 6, and he's in 5:30 mode!  Sam even knows the days, somehow, so I'm up at the same time as usual if we have a weekday off for a holiday or something.

Marty, sorry about your troubles and hope they can fix everything soon!

Aww, Tina I'm sorry -- when I have a sore throat I have to FREEZE it -- I prescribe a Taco Bell Strawberry Fruitista!!  (nothing milky -- that will choke you).  Do the whiskey chaser separate -- it would make the ice thaw LOL

You could also do a nice Long Island Iced Tea (ditch the tea -- just lemonade and booze will work fine). '*laughing*  the only time I seriously drink is when I'm sick.  Then I want ANESTHESIA! LOL

    Do the whiskey chaser separate

My gypsy grandma would give us kids shots of whiskey with black pepper when we were sick.  The pepper opened up your sinuses and the whiskey put you to sleep.

Anybody care to write my boss a note excusing why I am drunk at work? Stick out tongue
