    Mangled Monday

Sever weather strikes again.  Minneapolis got hit with a couple very small areas where a tornado touched down briefly.  I see this morning that Joplin, MO was hit very hard.  89 confirmed dead.  6 mile wide path of utter destruction.   My thoughts go out to all those families affected.

I am continuing my shoe oddessy.  I now own two pairs of Earth Shoes.  These have a 3.7 degree negative pitch.  The heel is a bit lower than the ball of the foot.  Some are also vegan!  Anyway, I have to say I was a bit skeptical, but after wearing the first pair for a week at work, I REALLY like them.  My feet don't hurt.  I bought another pair yesterday that are more sneakerish.  They were really comfy right out of the box.

I don't want to start a battle about the same gender marriage.  I appreciate everyone's point of view.  I've said it before, but I'll say it again Smile

I am gay.  For me, this debate and discussion and law is all about LEGAL rights.  I can't possibly speak for the entire gay community, but I do feel comfortable saying that the legal aspect of marriage is what we are fighting for.  I would like to see this country move toward the European view of marriage.   First and foremost, it is a civil ceremony completing the legal contract between two people.  Afterwards, if you wish to incorporate religious ceremony...go right ahead.    I just want the same rights, protections, privileges and responsibilities as the rest of you.

     Have a great Monday !!!

Very well said, Mindy.  I agree wholeheartedly (and not just because my DS is gay).

My trip to the dentist was worth the trouble.  He ran me through a few tests and determined that the tooth is alive and viable, just that I injured the ligament beneath, and the swelling is what is causing the ache.  The Rx strength Aleve he prescribed has been incredibly helpful and the first dose took care of the ache and accompanying headache within a half hour.

I did ask about the crown/root canal issue when I was there.  He told me that teeth that have had root canals performed should always be crowned unless they are front teeth.  However, crowns can be done if the tooth is viable in order to preserve it as one is always better off with as many live teeth as possible.

Got my tomato plant put into dirt yesterday, so I'm happy about that.

Hot, humid, and rainy here today.  So sad about the tornadoes and lives lost.

Mindy, I complete agree with your viewpoints. It saddens me that this is still an issue. Regardless if a state (such as my own) allows same sex couples to marry, it's not federally recognized. That's not right in my book.

It's only 8:30am and work already has me in tears. I really wish that mystery shoppers could understand (of if they do, simply just care) about how much their actions affect me and my own job. By them not doing their shops, I get penalized, yelled at, and risk losing clients (which in turn risks me losing my job). But, they don't care. There is no penalty for them not doing what they signed up to do. They get two email reminders and a phone call reminder from me. What more can I do?

At least I had a good weekend. The movie the Mom and I went to see was good. We had dinner and then breakfast the next morning out and walked a nearby lake twice (3 miles each time).  When I got home, I got a super happy Ari greeting then we took a 3 mile walk together.

Back to work for me. It's gonna be a long week.

If I don't get a haircut soon, I'm going to become a brunette version of Christina.

Same here! Last day at the beach, well half day :( - I caved and gave Bugsy a rimadyl last night and he seems more comfortable, the good night's sleep & traumeel helped too. He saw his new buddy Bradley and went full gallop to him from about 200 yes, good thing it really was his buddy lol. His owners are lovely, I wish -as always we had more time here- but real life beckons. It's been a great little break though, no complaints. It has just been such a bad year for tornados, so sad to here of even more destruction

Mindy, you and every same gender couple should have the same rights as everyone else.  It's the right thing to do.  But that doesn't seem to stop the religious zealots.

It's going to be a hot week here with temps near 100 according to the weather peeps.  High humidity makes it that much steamier.

Sharon, what a crappy situation you're in having to depend on people who just don't seem to care.  (((hugs)))

Deb, how'd you do in the Preakness, wager-wise?

Kate had the only winning ticket in the house.  She had Astrology across the board.  But I had awesome watermelon martinis !!!

Amazon has Lady Gaga's new album for 99 cents, today only.  I am quite the impulse buyer, I hadn't even heard most of the songs before LOL.

I am so, so excited for my 4 day weekend coming up!  We don't have *any* plans, although I'm sure we'll do something since Sunday is our 6-yr anniversary.  I'll be perfectly happy with dinner that I don't have to cook.

Back to work.. happy Monday ya'll!

Sharon, sorry that your day is off to a bad start.

Mindy, as I said yesterday, some aspects bother me, but, that's my issue.  I don't get to make the choice for other folks and I don't get to say that someone else is not entitled to the same protections under the law that I have.  Bottom line, we are all created equal....different, yes, but equal, and are all entitled to the same stuff.  I'm truely sorry if my comments offended you.  Considering that traditional marriages don't seem to last these days, I don't think ANYONE has the right to condemn an "alternate" marriage.  It's my thinking that you and Kelly have made the same commitment to one another in your hearts, that Todd and I have made.  And the two of you have a much harder path to walk than we do because of other people looking askance.  Shoot, its not that many years ago that one didn't marry outside of ones own race or religion.  Geeze.

When I saw the news last night there were 24 confirmed dead in MO.  Wow, quite the jump.  What a horror.  My heart goes out to all struggling in the aftermath.

But, you know, someone is going to be certain that this is confirmation of the darned Rapture.  And enough people will believe......and again, sorry if I'm offending anyone.

I think I should take myself outside and do some more planting and not risk offending the entire forum!!  Zip it!  Off to play in the dirt....again....groan!!

I was just catching up on the tornado story. How beyond awful.

Thanks for the hugs all. Sadly, this is the usual start of my day, every day. It's just doubly worse because I only have until the end of the month to reschedule these shops. Given that I have a limited number of people to choose from and upwards of 75-80% won't do their assignment, the odds are not in my favor. It's going to be a bad month for me and I suspect I will be yelled at by my bosses. Here's to hoping that one of my three interviews this week will lead to a job offer.

In good news, my significant other is being awarded one of three manager of the year awards for his entire company (which there are close to a thousand store managers country-wide). Considering his level of awesomeness and how hard he works, he more than deserves the award!

I was wearing Earth Shoes 35 years ago and loved them.  Didn't realize they still made them!  They always were comfy!

I am now full of antibiotics again for cellulitis.  sheesh  Glad I caught it early.

My heart breaks for those in MIssouri -- how awful.

Awww Callie, I'm sorry to hear this!  I'm glad you caught it early too, but still....

Callie, so sorry you're having trouble again but hopefully this time it isn't as complicated as before.... good thoughts!

Sharon, hope your day/month don't turn out as bad as expected.  I had signed up in college to mystery shop but it was super hard to get shops since they only really gave them to people who had done them before and I eventually just gave up.  What company do you work for?  It always sounded fun, and usually got to buy stuff for free or whatnot.
