SMACK!!! Feel better?
Mindy, my garden isn't planted yet. We still have to rake it out and re-install fencing, but even then, the only thing going in right now are my frost resistent. My garlic was planted in the fall, the onions a couple weeks ago and green onions in a huge, deep pot about a month ago. Those are pretty close to being ready to use. I have 5 kinds of squash (can you tell we like squash?), potatoes ready to go in, corn, peas, beans, carrots, watermelon, cantalope, pickling cukes, cabbage, brocolli, spinach, three kinds of lettuce, green peppers, jalepenos, LOTS of tomatoes and probably a few other things that I've forgotten. BUT, I've been warned that only frost resistent stuff should go in before Memorial Day, so garlic, onions, taters and the cabbage family stuff will go in by the weekend, the peas and green beans and of course the salad fixings. I need to find a bale of straw "just in case", but it also makes for a nice all around protection. THIS is how spring fever displays itself in me!
Mom and I were talking last night. Sis will spend hours and hours in her flower beds but doesn't like growing food. I'm the complete opposite. I enjoy the flowers, but would rather put the work into something edible. Guess she got Mom's flower gene and I got Dad's farming gene.
OK. I need to get moving so I can go into work to get some down time! Being in the office is enforced no physical labor!
My muscles and I are definately not on speaking terms!
Have a great day everyone!
