Thanks so much for taking care of this handsome boy.  How about Cletus for a name?

Cute! I like that name, or Travis... or I was thinking Garth, like a country theme?

I think he must of been smacked around a bit, he knocked over one of my baby gates today and I said, "hey" and walked over calmly... he prompted cowered and peed himself :(

oh,  poor guy :( "Cletus" rolls off my tongue pretty easily....

Uhm... Auntie Paige is a BIG TIME Bluetick Coonhound fan.... our family's first Dobe was actually a Dobe/Bluetick mix... He's gorgeous!

Personally, I think his name ought to be Peter.... somewhat better than Boner, but relatively the same message?  These dogs always get silly country names.  Cletus, Leroy, Bo/Beaux, Opie, Otis, etc....

     How about Elvis?

I hope whoever owns him got him OUT of a bad situation and that's why he's so scared and urinated, not that they are treating him badly... if that's the case I hope he ends up finding a new loving home. No dog deserves that and he sounds like such a good boy who tries to do right and get lovies. For some reason I also think he looks like a Teagan, lol.

You're not in need of a second dog are you? ;)

How about calling him Bonehead after Bubba's hound on In The Heat of The Night?   He really is a gorgeous boy.

Awwww, poor guy.  Papillons, Hounds & BBD's are my favorites.  He is a very handsome boy who deserves to not be afraid.

No demeaning yokel named hound, this. How fine he is...upstanding and manly. I would accept no other name than Rathbone for him...after the famous Basil Rathbone of Sherlock Holmes reknown.

If I were, you'd be getting a mighty-quick call from me.  Although, I have to imagine someone is truly looking for that dog.  He looks too healthy to be someone's cast-off.  Have you contact the Coonhound Rescue in Maine?  They may have gotten inquiries from someone looking for their lost dog... or had something come across their line of interest regarding lost Coonhounds.

How's he doing today??  PS, I assume the vet looked in his thigh or ear for a tattoo?  We had a Bloodhound show up in our shelter in NH and it was discovered about 2 weeks into his stay that he had a tattoo.  Turned out he'd been missing for 2 years.  This guy looks young(2-4yrs old maybe??).  Did the vet venture an age?

I gotta stop looking at him.... I have re-named him in my mind 8 times over...Oh, I have the "gimme"s!!!

He's doing great! We checked him all over for tattoos & chips and had a stool sample tested. Clear on all counts. Vet guessed 4-5 based on his teeth, though he does look young. He's not housetrained... certainly been living outside. He has a scar on his neck (old, bare of fur) where he either had a too tight collar or something.  He is so personable everyone that works for us likes to hang out with him. Our kennel handler took him apartment hunting today and to get some pizza and BF brought him to the rafting shop!

I will try Main Coonhound rescue, thanks.

... sending invisible vibes to Paige... you neeeeeeeed a blue tick.... you waaaant a blue tick..... hounds are niiiiice. :)

How about Satchmo for a name? :) The TV show White Collar has made me a fan of the name, what can I say? Glad he found a safe place to land with you. :)

We 'may' have found him a home & a job... too soon to get excited, but I just got a call. A young gal in Maine (13) is being mentored by her extended family who she's been learning to coon hunt with. She lost her dog tragically and is heartbroken. While she hunts with her dog, it also comes inside with her and sleeps in her room etc. so it's the best of both worlds! The people that work with her will help her train him if they and the family decide to take him. We'll be exchanging pictures over email soon. Fingers crossed! I really wanted to find him a working home, so this would be awesome if they check out.

    Karen, that would be awesome!

They decided not to take him :( They opted for a younger dog... so disappointed.

What a tough situation. I've been contacting all the rescues I can find. Northeast Coonhound rescue has been very nice and helpful, but she is overloaded. One rescue up here won't take him unless I have the state police pick him up and have him sit in "impound" for 10 days and then there's the chance he'll be euthanized before he gets there :(.  I cannot keep him, he's not good with my cat so we are on a seperate and rotate schedule that is rough. He's a good boy otherwise, but doesn't get the attention he deserves since at night he's crated and during the day if the cat is inside he's outside in the kennel barking because he wants to be in with us, and I can't have that. He's louder than all my sled dogs! I can't have the cat outside much since we have some large creatures roaming the woods here that will take him out in no time. We've actually tried running him with the sled dogs, but he doesn't like it, it does tucker him out so he's quiet though. He needs a cat free home with a dog savvy patient person... he'd make an awesome pet if someone had the time.
