Busy day here too!  Lots of thundering and lightening going on out there today.

I have to write this major thing today and I am so putting it off.  Its not like its that hard or anything, but it requires some brain power, of which I don't feel like exerting.

    Hope everyone is OK!

Happy Birthday Lily.  What a pretty child!

So we had the storms last night, heavy rain and wind and now it's sunny, but the rain is due to come back any time now.  I so want to get outside and do some yardwork, but my dogs are antsy as heck today and I'm afraid there will be some major racket if I try to escape.

Since Thor went to the Bridge, Sheba will NOT be crated.  She has destroyed two really sturdy crates.  Likewise she does nothing but whine and yip that annoying bark of hers if I go downstairs or outside without her.  And the whole lot are more barky and more on edge than when Thor was here.  It's getting really old, REALLY fast.

    Morning all

We managed to escape all the really bad stuff last night it went south of us.  Not to say we missed the excitement.  When I got home I had news that was a little alarming.  Background...  our small rural area has a lake just about 1/4 mile to the south of our property.  We all live in a valley.  The thought never crossed my mind to ever be concerned about the lake.  My bad....  The Sheriff's office came thru yesterday to get names and numbers of the neighbors on the main county road thru our area, apparently there is concern that the lake might flood the valley if we get much more rain.  There is 2 spillways, one has the road to our west still flooded...the Monday night flood wiped out the road to our S.E. (which is where all the water will probably go first)  The 2nd spillway has never released water since the damm was built many years ago.  It release tons of water monday when all the other floods happened.  The neighbor closest to the spillway said it sounded like Niagra falls and stripped the bark off the trees in it's path.   It has not released anymore water since Monday but we have had about a 30 hour repreave from the rain.  They have us on "Stage 1" flood alert with "Stage 2" being evacuation.  Vibes would be most appreciated.  We have some elderly and sick neighbors plus everyones cattle, horses, sheep, goats, chickens and pets.  The repreave has been good..we are only expecting an additional 1-2" today and clearing Thur and Friday.  I have packed a bag with a chg  of clothes and Ron's meds for a few days just in case.  He stayed up all night to be on flood watch so I left him a note ..... grab the boys, his phone and his insulin and hit the door if the sheriff calls :)

Anyway it is raining here now... Musicrain rain go away...come again another day....Music  Big Smilelike in July

Gotta get to work we have lots of trouble calls still today

Hugs to those that need it....  um by the way thanks for all your concern you guys are the best :)

    ETA: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY!!!!

ginger you've been on my heart for days and will **continue** to be!! Prayers & good thots for sure.

Glenda -- I tell ya, it never ceases to amaze me how l incredible the whole pack dynamic changes after a loss.  I am sorry - it is very difficult to deal with something like that.

Lisa -- get that thinking cap on!

I've got antihistamine hangover this morning UGH.

Glad to hear that you are ok Ginger, and we will continue to hold you and your neighbors in our thots.

Ginger, here's hoping that the water stays put and you don't have to leave.  The weather all over has certainly been wacky lately.

I too Sam (cat) to the vet this morning.  This is a new clinic.  Sam has had an ongoing problem with his hips and muscle spasms/cramping.  Sam turns into the DEVIL at the vet.  We had a discussion with the "regular" vet.  They are keeping him for a few hours in order to sedate him.  That's the only way he's going to get any help.  X-rays, blood work, consultation with the other vet who is also a chiropractor and acupuncturist.   He is so mean that he can't be handled, which makes regular chiro adjustments impractical (he would have to be sedated each time).  We could treat with an anti-inflammatory...but that is hard on kidneys.

Off to the park with Baily, then get my motorcycle ready to ride.  I am actually selling it on Thursday.  I am glad !  I don't ride it and with the money I can pay off my credit card Smile

ETA :  Happy Birthday Lily !!  Congratulations Gina and Mr. Gina    It is something to be proud of when your kid is smart and funny and kind and beautiful  CakeGift

freaky weather every where! it's raining here too. Again. Lots of flood advisories going on but nothing like you are experiencing I don't think.

I wonder if it's time to cut the rose bushes for spring growth? Going to have to look that up later. I think I lost several bushes over winter though. They are looking fairly dead to the world with no hope of coming back.

I'm considering doing a bug / flea treatment to the yard too (for the first time ever). I'm worried how that might effect the birds though that frequent the yard. Anyone have experience with that?

I thought it was supposed to be done by now but if you've not warmed up too much, maybe it won't matter. I usually wack them back in Feb/March and mine are already full and blooming.

Happy Birthday to Lily!! Gina - you have every right to feel great about her. She's a fantastic and beautiful young lady and much of that is due to you and your husband.

Ginger - I'll be thinking good thoughts for you guys. I can't imagine how on edge everyone must be.

I hate to brag about our weather but it's been crappy for so long, I can't help myself. It's sunny and going to be in the mid 70s today - yay!!

I have tons of work to do and little motivation but maybe some coffee will give me the oomph I need.

Ginger, I'm so glad to see that you guys survived last night's storms.  My friend in TN called me at 6am to let me know whe was ok but another bad one is heading her way.  Her husband is due in tonight and I know she will be relieved to have him back.

    Happy Birthday to Lily!

I've got to get busy as work is incredibly busy and I'm falling behind more and more. :(

Julie, look into applying some beneficial nematodes.  I don't use insecticides on my lawn other than occasional spot treatment for fire ants.  You spray them on with a hose end sprayer.  Keep the area wet.  Instructions and info are readily available online or at a nursery that sells them.

Hmmm... Diatomaceous (sp) earth rolled in a distributor over the whole yard may help, we also spread sevin liberally around the outskirts and grasses around the kennel, ideal in terms of chemicals? no, but it does help.

That's cuz you're a great mom!!  Happy Birthday, Lily!!!  You are a special girl!  (Geez, I've been around here for half of her life! wowsa!)

Good thoughts for all who need them.

This guy at our local HS is really sweet looking.  I posted him on our bulletin board at work - someone ought to take him home!!!

An easy soul, I am incredibly gentle, accepting and laidback.  Excellent on leash all I ask of our walks is that you let me smell about as we go and take it as an easy pace.  I have shown that I can be quite a gentleman with other dogs but, I do prefer the easier, less bouncy type.  I just want to relax!  I seem to be accepting of cats as well.  Given my gentle demeanor, I believe I could be okay with all ages as long as they are as easygoing with me.

Cathy, I think its different for each growing region. I thought I remember that you don't do it here until the last frost date which for us is in may, I believe. One of my rose bushes has started to sprout though so I'm not too sure. Will need to check my roses of mi book. Hopefully I'm not too late. We are still getting fairly cold temps here and I don't trust we are steadily in the 50s yet
