My FIRST thought was the animals

I'm sure I would be the same.  I'm so glad it was a false alarm.

rufftie, I love water gardens and envy your job this time of year once you get to see the finished product of your work.  We've gone on a tour of homes that a local water garden store used to sponsor.  It was so fascinating to see all the many types of water gardens, koi ponds, etc.  I was green with envy. :)

I decided to try accupuncture instead and had a great first session yesterday.

I really hope it works well -- some people walk out feeling "changed" and I never do.  My TCVM vet jokingly (but seriously) says that sometimes your body needs to 're-boot' with sleep to really feel the full effects.  But it rocks for helping your body to heal and recover.

I am WAY happier with this HHR rental than that huge Journey I had.  It's not snappy and it doesn't hold a candle to my Cruizer but it's WAY better and more comfy (not to mention the doors actually UNLOCK when you pressa -da-button!!)

David went in "late" today cos he had to take the Mini in for some service.  How to totally blow away two dogs mid-week LOL  "DAD WHATCHA DOIN HERE???"

Good vibes for the dental cleaning for the kitty Mindy and so glad the fire alarm was just a glitch.

I hope One Ton is doing better today. I think about him all the time these days.

I finally have my office back to myself, at least for the rest of the week. My boss mentioned yesterday that he'll be retiring in July - yeehaw!! I'm hoping to go to a 4 day work week as soon as he does, so this is exciting news.

DH went on 2 hardcore bike rides the last couple of days and last night he got massive muscle cramps in his quadriceps. All I could do was give him the ice pack for them but it was painful to watch and he's not one to suffer in silence Hmm. He's had these off and on when he works out more than usual and he takes potassium supplements to ward it off, but I don't think they help. He's good about staying hydrated, so it's not that either.

Continued healing vibes for One Ton and Wyatt!

Mindy - I bet that was terrifying! Fires scares the crap outta me too.

So, awesome news HALFPIPE SKIING will be in the 2014 winter olympics in Sochi, Russia! How cool is that? Slopestyle is still not ruled out yet either. It will definitely be interesting to see what this does for the sport. I think it will mostly do good things and promote the popularity of it. I can see potential conflict in the judging though....DH is a judge (albeit, lower level) for the organization that I assume will be judging it and he has his issues with the format. It is a hugely subjective sport and judging with a formula does not always work out for the best.

Thank you all for the kitty vibes....they worked!  Vet called, he did great, nothing pulled and I will pick him up later in the afternoon.

I called the company that installed the alarm.  He said that the smoke detectors should be changed at about 10 years.  This one is 7 years old.  I got new batteries (lithium that last a very long time) and will blow out the dust with canned air.  He set it to "non dispatch" mode.  If it triggers again, the monitoring service will call and notify us, but they won't call the fire department.  If we go about a month with no false alarms...he will turn the dispatch back on.  He said the older the smoke alarm units get....the more sensitive and glitchy they get......

We do have a large safe that is not technically fire rated....but we have a small fire safe "box" with our important papers inside the big safe.  I have an external hard drive for all my photos that is supposed to be stored offsite....but I keep forgetting to take it to work with me.  Bad me....

I get horrific cramps in my calves after dance if I don't do alot of stretching and slowly bring them back to "normal" after I am done.  DH used to ride an exercise bike after hockey to loosen them up...maybe that's it.

PS. at first glance I thought you said possum suplements.  I was like Hmm

I feel for your DH and his leg cramps Cathy.  I used to get horrible leg aches all the time when I was younger.  I don't get them as often as an adult, but I get them horribly when I am pregnant and restless legs WAY worse than usual which is something I already regulalry battle.  My Dr told me to start taking Slow-Mag to help with the leg cramps and so far for the last 2 weeks I have been taking it, I have only noticed them maybe once compared to what had become every day before.  It might be worth looking into.  I am well hydrated and also eat extra potassium to ward them off.  Stretching is also a HUGE key to avoiding them when exercise induced.  I tend to go for a warm bath or heating pad to help relieve mine, but then again, they aren't usually exercise induced and are more like an ache than a cramp.

I hate it when I have to plunge the toilet at work.  Ick!
    • Gold Top Dog

Ummm, yeah, I would too Tina

Cathy....I am taking magnesium supplements for those nasty muscle cramps.  Magnesium taurate is the most bio available according to the oestopath.  When I changed from that to another type, is when the shoulder decided to throw its temper tantrum that led to taking the muscle relaxer that led to blah, blah, blah.

He might do well to have the magnesium levels checked.

Tell him to toughen up some Cathy!!!   Big Smile  I get cramps/stitches in my hammies every once in awhile from working out....always have difficulty trying to work them!  I don't take supplements...usually just walk things off.  Sarah had the right idea....hot bath!

    Tina ....  Ick!

Tina, ewww.  A neighbor of ours came over once to borrow a toilet plunger.  When she sent one of her kids back with it, I told the kid to keep it. Ick!

Hot shower after exercise for cramps, yep.  Sex is supposed to help too according to DH. lol

Very busy here today, just stopped by to ck on One Ton and Wyatt!

Good healthy vibes to all, gotta run!

I suppose when faced with the choice of plunging the toilet myself or asking one of the guys to do it and risk having them think *I* clogged it, plunging it myself seemed the better option. I could just hear the comments in my head. Tongue Tied

They keep saying it's suppose to rain tomorrow and/or Friday, but you'd never guess it to look outside.  It's so nice to be able to go outside without needing to grab a jacket or sweatshirt.

I snagged such a deal at Kohls.com yesterday!  They had a $119 9-1/2 ft. red patio umbrella on sale for $59.99 and yesterday just happened to be 99 cents an item shipping day. They did add $5 to the shipping because it's a heavy weight item (wooden pole) but I still think I paid about half what I would have at a home improvement store, plus I probably would have used $5 in gas driving around. Things like umbrellas and yard cushions don't have a real long life span around here because the summer sun is so brutal.
