 booo for winter! It is only rainy here so I can deal with that. However, I did check the 5-day forecast and it was depressing.

Gina, don't try to deny you aren't that mean. We all know you better.

karen, I think you need some video / sound recording of that bird. That would be pretty entertaining. European Starlings are known to mimic like that too (think Jackie mentioned mocking birds earlier). The starlings around here try to mimic the eastern wood pewee in the spring which always gets me excited (my favorite bird song and def. a sign that summer is here), until I figure out it's just a stupid starling. They are annoying birds - like the rats of the bird family!

Work is CRAZY busy today. Phone is ringing off the hook, 10,000 emails coming in, people stopping at my office. Makes it hard to complete a task all the way through. So, I need a sanity check - which is why I'm here! :)

 Supposed to train tonight in this icky weather. We are at the same place that caused Abbie to shut down during training in Jan, and it took until just recently to get her back in the game from that setback. I hope that doesn't happen again tonight :( Maybe we'll get lucky and training will be canceled due to the weather.

Well, I guess I won't get much sympathy for our crappy weather, especially after seeing the snow Kelley had to deal with :(. Forecast does show that we might get some sun on Monday, so at least there's hope for spring to arrive here.

My BFF who has been unemployed for a year now (by choice) called me yesterday as I was driving home from a busy, stressful day at work. She wanted to know if the bra-hider doohickey things I told her I bought weeks ago really work because she just bought some too. First I told her that our weather wasn't really conducive to wearing clothes that would reveal bra straps right now (she lives in Florida). Then I told her that if that was her big ? or news of the day, she needed to get a life. I said it while laughing but I was kind of serious too - geesh!!

Life is stressful right now as we ramp up for our accreditation visit in early April and it's just going to get worse until it's over. It will be over though and knowing that is what gets me through the days right now :)

One of my coworkers (in a more remote way, more like associate) was diagnosed with a brain bleed that was only discovered when she suddenly lost the ability to form sentances and understand people speaking to her.  Doctors say either it's a bunch of veins wrapped around eachother like rubber bands, or an artery dumping directly into a vein and overloading.  Either one are birth defects, which obviously didn't become an issue until now as she's an adult around my age I guess.  The bleeding is on her left temporal lobe, pushing on her language center.

SO!  I am thinking how awful and scary that must be.  Imagining "what if she didn't have health insurance!!" (like myself..ugh)  Anyway, a co-worker is arranging to make 1000 Cranes - paper origami cranes.  She has solicited help to make them -  she provided the paper and a video link so I'm going to learn and help make some.  I can't wait to see the finished product...

RIP to Elizabeth Taylor.  Now she can spend some time with her good friends who have gone before her.  She was such a beautiful lady.

 I have been sick for 3 weeks now! First it was an ear infection,sinus infection and strep throat. Now it is bronchitis. I am hoping the second round of antibiotics does the trick because feeling like this and having an active puppy just dont go together. Thankfully my daughter has been helping with moose. We are supposed to get snow tonight into tomorrow and I dont want it! I am done with snow, i guess mother nature didnt get the memo LOL

Hope you feel better soon Erin!! Being sick and having to make sure puppy gets enough attention & playtime is rough!! Been there!

 

Finally home.....I had to walk through 2' of snow to get into my house....I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere the rest of the day! DH has his bowling banquet tonight that he won't miss for the world...so hopefully the snow lets up soon.

 

I'm thinking a nap is in order for this afternoon.

I had an interview this morning so please please please good vibes for the next couple of weeks?  It's for a perfect position in a lab with more $$ and more responsibility, they just have to post it officially and interview a couple more people, and check my refs and such.  It sounded like I got it (the boss is my old professor so we knew each other) but there are still a million things that could interfere.  TIA!

Booo snow.  We're supposed to get it tomororw and Friday.  ugh.  Just in time for a week off next week.

I wimped on going to the gym because of the nasty weather and did the treadmill here instead. Now I feel like I could take a nice long nap.

My deputy dir. brought me some rolls he made the other day. They look like a cinnamon roll but they have cheese, sundried tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, olives, red onions...and more cheese all running thru the swirls. OMG - I heated up 1/2 of one yesterday afternoon and knew I had to take them home so DH would eat them instead of me. They were yummalicious!!

Cathy, those rolls sound delish!  Next time send me one, m'kay?

Training was canceled yay. This makes life much easier for me. Now instead of going to work at 530 am to pick up the pool car I can take it home tonight and leave a half hour later. What a relief. I am so not a morning person to begin with.

Job vibes for Nicole

So... am I the only one out here who is going to miss winter? Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but I really enjoyed the cold. I finally figured out how to drive in the snow and learned to dress in layers. Now that the layers are coming off I feel a little exposed. I really miss New Mexico a lot but my life has been coming together so nicely that I'm very happy with living out here, so many opportunities that I never had before. Plus I'M BUYING A HOUSE!

BF and I have really turned our relationship around so much that it's almost like we are not the same people anymore in the best way possible. We decided to start shopping for a home together. Tomorrow we are going back to look at a house that we want to make an offer on. I know this is the hardest part but I really hope it works out. so excited! Not to mention that since I've been working here for just about 6 months I have gotten three raises and also am now teaching my own class. Life is moving forward so fast!

haha hahaha, Xeb, I think I felt the same way about hot hot hot desert summers, so I think I know what you mean about enjoying the opposite weather you're used to.  So, yes, I think you'll be the only one missing Winter (other than the die-hard skiers/snowboarders.)

I have officially turned into an origami crane-making machine!  I make a perfect one and decide it's my favorite, until I make another one in a different paper and THAT is my favorite!  I'm going to have to get my own paper and make some for myself to keep (these are all going for a person who is ill)  Man, I think I have a new hobby! ;) lol
