Just a positive note about the company: when it was found out that a Hurricane relief card was used to buy a $200 bottle of wine or champagne at a Hooters, the owner of the company sent the money back to FEMA.  He was upset that tax payers money had been used like that and wanted to give it back. Not to mention, that during the Hurricane disasters last year, he donated the use of one of his own planes to fly it in filled with needed supplies.  Hooters name or not, got to give them credit for their good deeds.

Having heard discussion here, on the male behind I really am wondering why it is okay for women to do it and not a man? Butts are for walking and sitting...yet in many cases they incite desire and comment. If you use the history of people in holding down the female of the species I can say...that was then...this is now...admire...comment...and be admired and commented about...it goes both ways, as is proper and fair.

Ask any man if he'd mind being viewed as a collection of body parts...and I think the answer would be "no" in many cases. Why don't we...as women...women who now have positions in advertising, marketing, and such..NOT focus more on male appearance, it's importance to us, etc? Because we usually are too busy comparing ourselves among, judging,  and picking apart, our own sex (else why is that show about "desperatehousewives" so popular?)...and maybe this is what needs to be addressed?

This above is solely the opinion of this poster...who has never has issue with anyone's breasts, whether real, imagined or made of pantyhose full of birdseed, being used for fun or for function. lol...

Let me say, I think it is an excellent idea and an excellent cause.  I am delighted to see Hooters involved in it.

Let me also take off my hat in salute to the women here who don't see Hooters et al. as being exploitive to women.  To me, saying women who are employed by Hooters, women who pose for Playboy or women who are prostitutes, for that matter, are being exploited, is the same thing as saying they are too stupid to think for themselves.

In the late 1970's or early 80's, let's just say I was into some things that no longer appeal to me.  [;)]  One of my friends in those days, was married to a high end prostitute, in Denver.  I remember her telling me that she made $80,000 TAX FREE dollars in 1979.  If this is explotation, please, someone, exploit me.  She liked what she did, or so she said.  In any case, she was free, white and 21 and made her own decisions.

Good for Hooters to want to do something good.

On the other part about Playboy and strip clubs and such...they wouldn't be around if men didn't want to go spend their money on it.
    Obviously sex and nudity sells.
If people are offended then don't support those places.  Plus no one is forcing these women to do these things!  So tired of the whole women being exploited...if they choose to run around half nekkid or fully nekkid and get paid for it more power to them.  heck, alot of women wear next to nothing in everyday life,LOL!
Although it would be nice to see some Chippendales do something like hooters is for neutering.[;)]

Firestorm how CUTE would that be (Chippendales)?

They could come out wearing little dog suits complete with ears....lol! Then they could like attach some water ballons to the front of their g string...2 of course...then they could do a little dance and then the women or men present could hold toothpicks in their mouths and pop the balloons,....LMAO...oh yes....that'd be hysterical!

Umm, yes...let us exploit some men next [sm=devil.gif] (cackling madly)
    • Gold Top Dog
OMG!  I love it - tell me when and where!

Much better than trying to put your glasses back on without hands after the Chippendale dancer has hooked them into the top of his g-string!  Can you say sweaty and smelly!  YUCK!  Took me forever to wipe 'em clear enough to see out of!

They wanted to, but I was unavailable.  They said the show just wouldn't be the same without me.  [:)]

Here comes a comment from a self proclaimed ignorant man:

What's the story with the claim that things like Hooters, Playboy, Strip Clubs, GGW, etc. are exploitive to women?

I think we should focus our blame on the parents instead of the industries.  It seems to me it is a women's choice to do these things, and hasn't that what the fight has always been about.

I take full responsibility for my decisions...good or bad.  There have been some really bad ones.  I never blamed anyone else...if I was exploited it was with my permission...my permission means my fault.

I don't care for the food or service at Hooters, but I do commend them on there spay/neuter campaign.

I personally do not think that they are.  I actually think that suggesting that it is explotive is degrading to women in itself, as if women are like children or animals that cannot possibly know what is the right decision for them.

It's their body, their talents, and they are using it to make a living.  They are taking control of it, owning it, realizing the power that it holds, and using that power.  How is THAT being exploited?

Plus, their raising money for a wonderful cause.  Some of the rescue people complaining about this need to be taught about NOT biting the had that feeds them.

I think that is an excellent question, Gina.  Perhaps there is some old broad lurking, who has posted here ;previously oogling the butt of a man AND has posted here that she considers Hooters to be exploitive of women, would be willing to explain her apparent lack of consistency.  [:)]

Let me say, I mean that to be funny although I would find an explanation interesting.  I really don't care who oogles whom.  I am not even sure I know how to spell oogle, I have so little experience with it.  [:)]

Wasn't it right here in NDR that we were debating the other day about making laws based on religious belief?  Maybe it was another forum but I THINK it was here.  Yes, it was in the "who voted for this joker" thread.  Anyway, we could argue that prostitution is exploitive of women, and we will if you want, but I have a question for the intelligent people here.

You take an activity (sex) that is perfectly legal, between consenting adults, and it becomes illegal if money is exchanged for it.  Why?

    I've always wondered that too.

I recently went to LasVegas, and it's a complete joke.  Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas county, but because of something to do with freedom of speech it is still OK to promote it.  Of course, they are not called hookers, they are called "Full Service Exotic Dancers."  Baseball card sized hooker advertisements are handed out on the Strip, there are pages and pages of hooker ads in the Yellow Pages, and there are more newspaper stand boxes holding hooker booklets (think Auto Trader, but with women, men, you name it) than there were holding newspapers.

OMG, Hooters has $200 wine??? I've never been to a Hooters - I just always thought they were a burgers/fries/beer sort of place and if they had wine, it would be *Two Buck Chuck* ala Trader Joes. [:D]

Joyce, I think what they have is a $200 bottle of that high dollar champagne, Dom Perione or something like that, along with a few chicken wings.  Way too high class for me.

Years ago, early 80's maybe, I went to Las Vegas, for my first time, for a Goodyear dealer conference.  Hooked up with one of my customers there.  I hadn't quite grown up yet.  We decided we were going to hire a hooker.  I called a number out of the phone book, the lady, with a "by the way" type of comment, mentioned that prostitution was illegal in whatever county LV is in, I think it was Clark county.  She then went on with her sales pitch and quoted me $400.  I was floored.  I had no idea what it was going to cost, but I would have never guessed a number that high.

I remember, to this day, what I said to her when she quoted the price.  "Ma'am, it is quite possible that I have never had a good piece of @ss in my life, but I have sure as hell never had one worth $400."  She hung up on me.
