Hades has frozen over Sunday chat

Or at least my little corner of it.  It is minus two degrees this morning.  Yikes!

I guess that the county gave up on the two spots that we were thinking of taking the dogs.  They hadn't plowed either one.  Did find a spot at the end of a dead end road that might work, but they won't really be able to run off lead much.  I'm going to try the field with Shadow.....it's been so cold that MAYBE the snow is frozen and I won't sink up to my rear.

Sis keeps suggesting snow shoes, but the one time I tried them I kept stepping on myself and falling face first into the snow.  No one has EVER accused me of being graceful.

So how many layers does the well dressed gal wear in temps like this?  Guess I'll find out!

Have a great day all!  Stay warm!

    Snow shoes...haha.

A bit warmer here today, at least 20. I have been up since 6am, had coffee and oatmeal, played with the dog, the bunny and fed the cats before they planned my demise. The dishes are done, dinner is planned and now im gonna go play on the sewing machine. Pain be damned.

My  tennis elbow has been painful, I finally had to buy a band to help, even with that I still have pain and cannot straighten my left are fully.Good thing I am right handed.

    Have a good day all.

You know what I mean by snow shoes?  Those giant things that are supposed to support and keep you from sinking in the snow, but which in my case would just encourage more face plants.

It has now warmed up to 3 above.  Unfortunately, the windchill has dropped the feels like temp to -9.

Owie on the arm.  Hope it improves soon.

Temps here are reaching -10 but they're saying closert to -20 with the windchill!!!  Shesh Glenda...complain much!!  LOL  just pickin

Poor pups...I know what you mean about having nowhere to run them.  I wanna take the crew out but not even a minute in they're all shaking from the cold!  I put a sweater on Charlie yesterday and took him for a small walk but he shook the whole way so I picked him up and carried him back!  The little sook loved this idea!!!

I guess we're better off than some places here in Canada.....upwards of -40 in some parts!!!   BRRRRRRRRRR

Well, I've got football on the mind today!  Woot Woot

    Have a great day everyone.

The current windchill here is 4. I like that the weather picture is just a frozen thermometer. The overnight low tonight will be 0.

So, I am having debates about my mode of transit tomorrow. I have to go to Boston. I can take an Amtrak train to Boston from Trenton, but I am worried about leaving my car in Trenton. Also, on the way back, it would get me in to Trenton at  4AM. That doesn't seem too safe to me. I can go to another station, go to New York, and then go to Boston. Either option, this is expected to get me in at about 3:15, and I need too be there at 5:00. This clearly seems like it should be enough time, but I always have to worry that it might not be. On the way back, if I were to go to Trenton, this gets me back at about 4 AM. The other option, I would have to stop in Penn Station at about 2:00 AM, and wait for 2 hours until NJ Transit started running to be able to get back to my car. The third option is to drive, but I am not fond of it, because it is so cold, and I worry about the potential for black ice. Also, there is work I would like to get done. So, Penn Station at 2:00 AM, or Trenton at 4:00 AM. Which one is worse?

Ah...to live in S.E. Texas this time of year.  Wink

Yesterday, all three dogs enjoyed a bath...yes, I said enjoyed.  lol  I have set up my utility bathroom up as a grooming station.  Nice hand held shower with warm water is perfect.  Saving me a boatload of money too.  The hardest part is getting Buddy in the tub.  No problem getting out, of course...but getting in is a challenge.  At least Rick was home with me at the time yesterday, so he helped get him in the tub.  Clean up is not bad at all with the Dyson Animal.  Still in the honeymoon phase with my vacuum cleaner...I love that thing.

This morning Heidi was a snuggle girl...so sweet.  Yes, I said sweet.  Smile  All she wanted to do is snuggle and be as close as possible to me while I enjoyed coffee on the couch.  At one point, Bruder was laying on the couch next to me....all stretched out taking up the majority of the room.  But, snugglebunny wanted to join us.  There was only about 4 inches on the other end of the couch, but she found her way there....smushed with her tail hanging off the edge...but she was content until Bruder got off the couch.  Then she scooted all the way over to me, sighed a big sigh, then layed there for a whole 5 minutes.  Big Smile  For her, this was a long session.  lol

Agenda for the day:  Oil Change, mani/pedi and grocery store (for us and Mom too).  Have a good one everybody!

I'm so laughing at the snow shoe face plant visual lol I bought snowshoes once then took them back without ever using them. Now I'm glad I did!

I have to believe its pretty cold everywhere today. This has been a pretty cold winter, only 1 or 2 days above 30. Anyway, today was -15 when I got up. Not sure what it is now but I will just stay inside thankyouverymuch. No sar training for me today.

I do plan to stop by our pet pararde though and hand off some dog treats to various foster homes. Maybe I will get to see and love on scarlett. I haven't seen her in ages. Then I might meet my sar team for dinner, although I may feel guilty for being toasty warm without 50 layers of clothes on while they suffered all day ;p

Griff, consider where you would be at the time. Penn station, inside, with security around, at 2 am? Might be preferable to Trenton, outside in a parking lot, with less lighting/security, at 4 am.

Barb, which Dyson do you have?  There are so many models and several that come in Animal versions.  We've been saving gift cards and  rebates and such so we're up to $200 in our vacuum fund.  In some ways it feels absolutely crazy to spend that much on a vacuum, but since a lot of folks on here have them and love them, we've been considering one.  My current vac has a broken plastic piece so it's on borrowed life at the moment....

I dislike our gas company estimating readings.  I ask DH to call it in every other month so as to avoid that, but he's remembered twice in a year.  30% success rate, not bad, but of course he remembers in the summer when the bill is only $20 :)  We got this month's bill, $175.  not horrible, but last month's estimated one was only $87.  So then we get an extra page with our bill telling us this month was drastically different from last month, and several charts essentially explaining that the company sucks at estimating.

20 degrees below F in my backyard.  -20F.  If I intended to leave the house, that would mean zipping up the coat, putting on the gloves.  International Falls MN reported -46 degrees two days ago.  I think they put the meter on a short post in the bottom cranberry bog so they can get the lowest reading possible.  The weatherman said this is just a normal MN winter, that the last few years of mild winters has spoiled us. The paper had a police report in New Ulm where a woman reported some kids were making noise at the local park.  The cop checked and found a group of kids sledding.  That used to be considered normal behavior, but with TV and computers, you just don't see a lot of kids playing outside any more.

I wonder how applejack tastes when added to hot chocolate .  If it's good, I'll report back.  If it's really good, I'll report back tomorrow.

I have the one with the purple ball...DC25.  I had wanted one for a very long time...and kept my eyes open for a sale.  Finally, Target had one that ws $100 off.  I nabbed it up...in fact, had to go to 3 different stores, because people were buying them out.  You can also go to Dyson.com.  Sometimes they market reburbished ones at a decent price.  Me....not really a fan of refurbished items.  I don't know why though....its a product that has been "fixed" and resold...so in theory should be just fine.

Yes, Johnny, I do *itch, moan and complain a lot.  That's my coping mechanism for dealing with severe weather extremes.  Actually tho, it's warmed all the way up to 11, with an expected high of 13 today.  Feels like -2 right now, so we're getting toasty for a few hours.  However, -15 tonight actual temp.

The dogs really NEED a run, but even they don't want to be outside.  Tried to take Shadow out just in the yard and he turned around and left me down the hill.  Sigh.

I've seen Dyson on sale several times, target, lowes, best buy etc so at least they do have sales.  We have a target cc so we'd get 5% off any purchase but when they switched to that rewards program and everyone was applying for cards, they limited the credit line to $500 regardless of the fact that we have terrific credit.  It's fine for normal purchases but a dyson would eat up nearly all of that!  I'm also not really a refurbished person but worth looking in to.

My biggest concern is that the ones I've played with in the store seem heavy.  I can't remember if it was a ball version or their regular one, but it was way too cumbersome for me to lug up and down stairs myself.  So I might have to consider one of their smaller ones even if the canister is smaller or it has less features just because of that.

It's fairly chilly here too, but again the sun is out in full force so it's actually warm in the sun and some snow is melting.

I'm not that impressed with my dyson to be honest. Yes, its the easiest vacuum I've ever used as far as maintenance and so forth but I don't think its worth what I paid for it. Its does good on hair but I have to go over stuff 2-3x sometimes. Especially bigger stuff - like a paper straw (seriously). I would go for refurbished if you're stuck on a dyson. That's a much smarter choice imo. If I had to do it over I'd probably go with something else half the price
