I have to believe its pretty cold everywhere today.

Ummmm...we hit 69 yesterday and broke a record for high temp. It's supposed to be a few degrees cooler today. I'll shut up now Zip it!

Nicole - I have the DC17 and it's super heavy. I love it but it's not the easiest to push vacuum I've ever used nor is lightweight.

We were at the gym at 7:30 and then stopped at Walmart on the way home. I found 2 super cute workout pants for $11 each and the best part is they fit really nicely. I tried on pants at Sports Authority that cost $50-$60 and couldn't find anything that I liked nearly as well as these - yay!

We had our post-workout gut busting breakfast and have no other plans than to enjoy a football filled rest of the day.

Sometimes they market reburbished ones at a decent price.  Me....not really a fan of refurbished items.  I don't know why though....its a product that has been "fixed" and resold...so in theory should be just fine.

There was just a story in the news where this woman bought a refurbished vacuum, opened it up and inside the canister was something like $200,000 worth of DRUGS!  Stupid criminals.

I think I need to practice yoga.  I've got all kinds of new stresses in my world and I'm not dealing w/them well.  In about a week and a half I'll be asking for vibes for my dad who is going in for spinal surgery again, and I'm hoping I will have an interview for a particular job that has come up that I'm very interested in, and the person who vacated the job knows I want it and is giving a reco.

Speaking of - congratulations again on the job, Glenda!

See now...that's a reason why refurbished makes me weary.  If the Dyson techs had done a thorough job of refurbishing...they would have looked IN the canister.  LOL

The DC25 is lightweight.  I agree that it has issues picking up other stuff, little pieces of paper or whatever seems to be a challenge for the Dyson.  At my house, however....it doesn't matter.  The housekeepers use the monstrosity of a Eureka for their job.  Then I use my Dyson in between times to pick up the dog and cat hair.  So, its got a specific job to do.  Fur Elimination.  Smile

I highly recommend Yoga!!!!  If you are serious, keep in mind that it takes a while to get the benefits from stretching and breathing correctly.  But, once you get a routine down....nothing better.  Yoga effects all the body's systems from digestion to neurological to muscular.  Go for it!  My favorite Yoga program was taken off the air....Inhale with Steve Ross.  Loved that show.  Thank goodness I have a couple still on my DVR.

    Glenda...Congrats!

Well, I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Dyson in that situation above. lol

Fingers and paws crossed for the job, Paige ... and good vibes coming for your dad.  We'll start the vibes early so when the day comes he'll have a big supply. Smile

Foggy and overcast again today and maybe about 15 degrees lower than yesterday, but I'm gonna zip it and refrain from complaining. It's not raining or snowing.

I went to Trader Joe's earlier and almost got a tube of the French goat cheese w/honey, then decided to get the one with cranberries instead.  Super good!  I can see myself finishing that off in a short time.  I hope it's not something seasonal.

I've seen Dyson on sale several times, target, lowes, best buy etc so at least they do have sales.  We have a target cc so we'd get 5% off any purchase but when they switched to that rewards program and everyone was applying for cards, they limited the credit line to $500 regardless of the fact that we have terrific credit.  It's fine for normal purchases but a dyson would eat up nearly all of that!  I'm also not really a refurbished person but worth looking in to.

My biggest concern is that the ones I've played with in the store seem heavy.  I can't remember if it was a ball version or their regular one, but it was way too cumbersome for me to lug up and down stairs myself.  So I might have to consider one of their smaller ones even if the canister is smaller or it has less features just because of that.

It's fairly chilly here too, but again the sun is out in full force so it's actually warm in the sun and some snow is melting.

Dyson's are very heavy, I have one and although I love it, sometimes it gets to me how heavy it is.  Hubby has to take it downstairs for me.

I think the weight of the Dyson depends on the model.  Because I have a bad back, I specifically looked for the lightest one...it's yellow...  This was about 5 years ago, though.  I also got it refurbished from Overstock.com, and have had absolutely no problems with it.  Can't say the same thing about the 3 yr old Hoover Wind Tunnel...

Willow has been eating a prescription diet for a couple of years now.  But, I slowly add in toppers and recently I discovered the canned Blue Longevity.  Its a fish based canned food.  So, we've done well with that one so I was picking up a few extra cans for the week when here comes the Nutro lady.  She caught me just as I was comparing the mature vs adult formula.  I've been using the mature and had every intention of staying with what works but I was just curious.  And, here she comes, "oh, I see you are comparing labels."  Me, "yes, I am and I really don't want any Nutro."  Her, "Really, why, if you look at our holistic cans. . .".  Me, "I'm sure they are fine, but they are not Blue."  Her, "ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?"  LOL, yeah, I'm sure.  If I wasn't pressed for time I would of grabbed the cans and compared them for her.

I'm not even a food snob.  I use what works. It just irks me that they want to start telling me what to buy all the time.  I don't feel like I should have to explain my dogs medical history to these people to get them to buzz off either.

Not a bad day today after all. I thought I was going to be really bored, but I dropped off a bunch of treats for our foster homes at the per pararde, then took some hot chocolate to the sar team (figured they'd be popsicles), then came home and had a soak in the hot tub. Now I'm couch potato bound for the rest of the night. Tylonal 3 + hot tub = major relaxant!

Scarlett wasn't at the pet parade, but I talked with her foster dad and might take her for a week or so to give him a break. I guess she's an aussie snob and doesn't like dogs other than aussies. I should probably push her through arph to see if there are any homes that might adopt her. She's not an arph dog but she is an aussie.....

I am dying of sickness. At least it's the second week of interning. Now my immune system will be nice and strong for the rest of the semester. I had to send the dogs on their romp with Little Bro. I can only imagine the mayhem. I told him to just keep them on their long lines and away from other dogs. He is usually good about listening so we'll see.

Future MIL is sending home homemade chicken noodle soup with FH. Yesss.

I don't like Dysons - I've used all shapes and models through work and they all seem really heavy and annoying. My tax return (woot!) is going for a refurbished Miele. I prefer a canister vac.

YAY for jobs and ((hugs)) Paige. But air ((hugs)) because I am sure I am contagious.

Since I know ya'll can't wait to hear....going to be -15 tonite with windchills of -35.  Tomorrows only going to be 9, but the low will only be 0 so that's certainly better.

We had explored a little yesterday and there weren't many options for dog walking other than the field.  I tried with Shadow, and even he gave up.  He stopped, turned around, looked at me and asked "really???  do you really want to do this?"  Told him no and we went back in the house.  So, choice two, is go to the end of a little road, park in the cleared area and walk them on the very sparsley populated road, mostly summer homes at that end.  But, the ATV trail was good and clear so we went that way instead and walked a mile or so back into the woods with two sets of dogs.

And a good time was had by all.

Griff, consider where you would be at the time. Penn station, inside, with security around, at 2 am? Might be preferable to Trenton, outside in a parking lot, with less lighting/security, at 4 am.

Yeah, you totally answered my question. Penn Station it is. Really, if it weren't going to be so darn cold, I would drive, but I am really super worried about the possibility of black ice. I am wondering though if there wouldn't be night construction right now though, as it is so cold. I know when I drove the same route over the summer, the stoppages due to construction were horrible. However, I did perfect the art of pulling off the highway and riding on parallel streets past where the traffic was stopped. Either way, I am going to do it all again on Thursday, because I feel some sort of obligation to going to class in person on the first day.

The current temp here is 21, and it feels like 12. I guess that is warm compared to what some of you have.

So, I wrote to 3 people the other day to ask them to write recommendations for me. I got one reply within a few hours. The other two have not replied. It has been about 48 hours, so I am thinking, because my deadline is about 5 weeks away, that I should move on down my list of people to ask tomorrow. I figure that maybe these people don't really check their emails over the weekend, so I will give it a bit of time tomorrow. I have another 3 or 4 people I am thinking of asking, and I need another 2. At the very least though people, if you are not willing to do it, and that is perfectly ok, and why I have thought of at least twice as many people to ask as the number of letters I need, have the courtesy to reply to me and say no. Of the three I did ask already, the one who said she will do it was the most important one of those three. A no from that person, and I might have even reconsidered whether or not I was going to apply.

My backyard thermometer got up to 20F today.  A 40 degree temp increase, and still well below freezing.  This is why you want to live in MN.  The winter makes even lousy springs look wonderful.
