I would bring back the hairstyles of the 40's.

You're reading my mind - pretty much any fashion from the '40s

Me too!  Actually I have a few of my Grannies 1940's suits, some of her hats and several of her heels.  I also managed several years ago to score big on 1940's shoes, in my size (big deal), on ebay.  They were still in the box, never worn, found in some old department stores so they said.  I didnt care I got them for a steal and I wear them.

99% of all "empire waist" shirts, and many dresses. They look beautiful and elegant... for maternity clothes! But make people look pregnant whether they actually are or not!

WHAT?!?!  I look good in empire-waist items because my stomach/waist is smaller/flatter.  But too much fabric is always too much fabric - so if someone is heavy up top and tries to wear empire-waist clothes, then, yeah, it looks silly.  Sort of like stretch pants on heavy legs.

I should clarify, though - I don't wear peasant tops - those qualify under the TOO MUCH FABRIC category and are not flattering.  However, I have some work tops and even floaty tank tops that look good when cinched under the bust.

I can tell you don't live in Texas. It never WENT anywhere Julie!

    LOL  Good one, Gina!

I agree with the good old, regular fit cotton jeans.  I have a heck of a time finding good old tradtional jeans.  As for the natural hair- I don't do anymore than tie mine back.  Occasionally I will hit it up with the hair dryer, just to get it dried (especially in the winter).  No make up, no fussy hair- that's me!

Well, for many gymnasts, the scrunchie will never go out of style!  I think anytime we got a leotard, a matching scrunchie was just a given.

I own one empire waisted shirt...without a doubt one of the most COMFORTABLE shirts I own...and also one of the most unflattering. Tongue Tied  It's been consigned to the "training my dogs but I'm feeling semi-fashionable today" pile.

And please keep cargos in style.  I LIVE in and LOVE mine, but sometimes it feels a little strange to be the only girl wearing them.

If I never see someone wearing overalls again, it'll be too soon.  No offense intended, as I do know that some looked cute in them, but I still feel that unless you're pitching hay, they're just out of place. Stick out tongue

I own one too, and I must confess I do like it, but it does not flatter my figure. (Could be worse, though!) I don't doubt there are SOME people that can pull them off (like Paige!), but it's tricky!

Agreed on the overalls, but I sure did love mine when I was a kid :)

I also like cargo pants. I don't know about fashion, but I will wear mine with you any day... if I can ever find any in stores that fit and don't make me look like a man ;)

Another trend I'd like to leave - elbow patches! I understand they're very "in" these days, but I just don't like them. Go figure.

I've got a pair on right now and I LOVE them.

Regarding the empire waist tops, yes you have to have a very flat belly and the fabric has to be somewhat clingy so show that no, you are not pregnant.  I have a couple and to be honest I wear them to show off the ladies and to make them look bigger.  While my thighs are heavier, I have a very flat stomach, small waist, and long torso.  They are also one of the styles of shirts that are long enough so when I raise my arm I am not all of a sudden wearing a half shirt.

On the other hand, my sister has skinny legs and more of a stomach and they may her totally look pregnant.

Cargo pants - love love love them. I don't care if they are in style or not. I will always own a pair of cargos. The pockets are priceless for dog training and especially for sar.

I dont understand the scrunchy hate. I don't wear them but I don't understand why they are so offensive to people

I absolutely hate the saggy pants look.  It looks awful and also so so uncomfortable.  I don't get why anyone would want to have to hold their pants up all the time.

The other thing I hate are holey jeans.  I am on the smaller side and still shop in the juniors section for most of my clothing.  These clothes flatter my figure the most.  However, when I am looking for a nice pair of jeans and all I can find are jeans with holes all over them, it makes me angry.  Especially in the winter.  Who wants holes in their pants in this cold???

hehehe!!!  This is exactly what I think :)   I will say ladies, I love, love love overalls for working outside and in the garden but they are getting very hard to find.   I actually bought some "painter" pants last year in the men's dept at Wally world and they are better than my overall's and have more pockets.

Can we have back pants that fit at the waist. I did see some around recently. I need to go buy myself some. This is for both men and women.

Skinny jeans. Especially on men. It needs to stop. Unless the next generation doesn't want to reproduce, this need to be ended.

Empire waists need to be made exclusively as maternity clothes. Sorry people who like them.

Can I just ask Lies, what is the deal with the scrunchie thing? Why do gymnasts wear them alllll the time?

I can't stand faded jeans, I wish they would disappear. I like one colour jeans....I don't need "awesome" fade marks all over my butt or thighs thank you very much.

I love skinny jeans on guys - sorry Griffinej5

I too, am a fan of 40's style....hair, dresses, etc. I would LOVE for it to come back into style.

I'm not much into fashion.  I only have two requirements for something I'm wearing. 1) It has to fit and 2) I have to like it.  Beyond that, I don't care if it's in style now or was in style 20 years ago. But ... if there's one thing I'd love to see banned, it's guys wearing pants with the waist just barely above their knees.  DGS wears his pants like that pretty often, and he has to walk with his legs apart to keep them from dropping to his ankles.  Ever watch a two year old walking around with a load in his diaper?  That's what they remind me of.

Totally agree but I too have a few that fit just this way and they're my favorite tops and I get a lot of compliments when I wear them.

I love cargo pants too and when I was younger, I loved painter pants. I like to dress up once in awhile but I'm really most comfortable in more casual clothes.

Although I have several pair, I think we may look back and say that the capris weren't the greatest fashion trend. I thought pedal pushers were pretty funny looking back in the days women wore them but there's really no difference.

I was looking at a cute pair of capris in a catalog a few days ago and it said the inseam was 23".  I'm glad I checked my inseam   because they would have been almost down to my ankles. Stick out tongue The same catalog had pedal pushers with an inseam of 17" and that's a much better length so maybe that's the difference between them. It was an old catalog from last spring or early summer, but I'll have to try and remember that for this year.
