Truley, I know its totally a regional thing, but that makes me chuckle. Here 1-4 inches of snow is nothing really lol. Because my job has me calling people from many different states, I learned quickly that whole towns shut down for a dusting in the south!
Sharon, the first year I lived here they closed schools and IT NEVER SNOWED! From what I understand they had a couple of huge snowstorms in the 90's, one dropped 16 inches of snow, the other 22 inches, that caught them unaware, it was so bad people were snowed in for weeks while they tried to clean up the streets. UPS which is hubbed here threatened to leave it was so bad. Now all you have to do is whisper snow and they panic. To give them some leeway, there are hills here and twisty streets, and some parts just outside the city are rural. Right now the snow does not bother me, it will be the dropping temps combined with wind.
I have milk, eggs and bread not to mention plenty of food since I shop sales, if need be I can always make some bread. To make matters worse, of the three houses including mine, I think I am the only one with a shovel and snow gear. They truly believe they don't have to shovel, the sun will come and melt it!
My salt and shovel, boots, gloves and hat are already on the back porch. I have plenty of pet food, I will do doggie patrol and yard clean up later today and then work on the garage so the car can be put in. Do you think any of my neighbors are thinking this far in advance? Hell no! If it does not snow, oh well.
