It's FRIDAY Chatter =)

I'm going to be in a world of hurt when I have to start getting back up at 6 am and go out in this cold to get my butt to work.

I felt the same way after I had my surgery last year. It took a few weeks for me to get back in sync. Man, I still daydream about those 6 wks off.

We're almost having a heat wave here. It's been in the mid-60s in the day and mid 40s at night. It's usually a lot colder than that, altho never as cold as some of you deal with.

I finally got all the Board materials at the end of the day yesterday, so now I just need to compile them and get them in the mail. Nothing like cutting it close but it happens every time, so I'm not surprised anymore.

I have the volunteer orientation for the Golden Retriever rescue here on Sunday and I'm super excited about that. It's funny but when I was driving in, I was thinking how tired I felt and then I thought about that and felt all perky. I guess I have plenty of energy in store for stuff I really want to do but this job isn't one of them.

Boy do I hear you on that thought.... I would MUCH rather spend a day working and playing with dogs than actually working... especially at my current job....

Last weekend when I helped at the Cowboy Christmas event, I spent the first bit of time walking around picking up dog poop. They have several resident dogs on the ranch and there were poop piles spread far and wide. I was chuckling to myself at how much I was enjoying it. My distaste for my job is getting stronger as I get closer to retirement. It's a good job though and I should be grateful but it's just not what I want to do anymore.

They are calling for mid-20's here over the weekend.

Just so the rest of you can laugh -- down here when it hits low 40's they CLOSE schools simply because the kids who ride bus don't have the clothes nor shoes to stand outside in those temps to wait for the bus!

3-4 years ago there was like 19 flakes of snow in the air up Flagler Cty (near Jacksonville) and they closed schools all over (same reason).

You know when someone was born/reared in Floorr-daaaa because you'll see them out in 60-79 degree weather with sweaters, snow parkas, turtlenecks, SCARVES .... and ....

    thongs/flip-flops on their feet

Yep -- they do.  It's hysterical.

When we go to Give Kids the World (where there are folks from all over the world) it's SO easy to spot the "locals" -- cos it's 50-60 degrees out and all the folks from up north are in shorts (cos they're in FLORIDA!!!) and the locals are decked out in snow gear and scarves with flip flops on. *grin*

Groan!  I just spent over 2 hours helping DS answer the mountain of legal paperwork that the "ambulance chasing scumbag firm" (so described by DS's attorney) sent out in regards to the accident back in August.  Over 200 questions, most of which they already HAVE the answers to since they are HER lawyers.  Foolishness.  I think in part they want him to just throw in the towel to avoid any more of their crap.  Or, as DS described it "their steaming pile of....erm....excrement"!  LOL!

Blech.  My immersion in coffee didn't help, but that BS sure cleared the head and woke me up but good!

Now am deciding whether or not to bake cookies today.  Hmmmmm.

Glenda -- if you'll bake cookies I'll pop over for a cup of coffee and a cookie after work -- howzat???? (Callie living in la la land today)

Mindy, thanks so much for that video!  What a great way to start the day.  I'm still laughing.

Callie, I got a chuckle out of the way you described the locals.  My DS #1 dresses the same way ... parka, hat, gloves - and flip flops.  Sometimes it's shorts with long underwear and flip flops.  Now personally, I think if it's cold enough for a parka and long underwear, it's too cold for flip flops.  If it's warm enough for flip flops, you don't need a parka or long underwear.  But what does mom know? Apparently not much. Tongue Tied

It's still overcast and dampish, but I don't think there's any rain on the immediate horizon. This would be a good day to finish my cards and get some stuff wrapped. Time has really gotten away from me this year.

Before I totally forget ... again ... if anyone has (or knows anyone who has) a smallish dog named Max who would like a personalized scarf, let me know.  About five years ago I ordered a scarf for Max out of the Lillian Vernon catalog.  It's made like a human scarf - long and narrow.  Red on one side, white with black paw prints on the other and "Max" on one end.  By the time I sent for it, Max was already too big for it and it looked goofy on him.  So I still have it, in a bag and taking up space in a drawer. Smile

Not tea Callie?  I'm very tempted to just be "lazy" today and not do extras......

Aww fresh baked cookies just reminded me of my SO's father who passed away. He made these phenomenal chocolate chip cookies that I would contemplate committing murder over. He'd always give me and my significant other's brother's girlfriend a huge bag of them for Christmas, because we LOVED them. Never did get his recipe...happy/yet bittersweet memory.

Now, I'm not complaining, but how the heck is it already 2pm EST?! Last time I looked at the clock it was mid-morning! Yesh, gotta finish up looking over some stuff, send out weekly reports and tie up the day/week.

Tea would be good (figgered you'd have some left over since you were talking about bathtubs full of it) -- and we could take turns calling each other "Mom" and pretend we were the absolute perfect comforting Mom .... or ... no wait wait -- we can pretend our last names are Hilton and life will just be peachy keen anyway!!

HEY -- when I think up feel good stuff I do a good job don't I???  And let's see -- if I hit I-4 at 5:01 I oughta be up there by what ... 5:15??? (FL to MA??)

I live in AZ..I'm not sure if it's like this in the entire state, but we seem to have no salt at all for snow..  Last year we had perhaps 2" of snow. They thought putting fine gravel down was sufficient. Ah...no.    They also don't plow correctly..they'd plow the turn lanes, but leave the main lanes snowy and icy.  Puzzling...

I'm from IL...I find driving here in the snow way more frightening than the most horrid blizzard, because people literally turn into Chicken Little

    • Gold Top Dog

Probably 5:15 tomorrow, if you drive straight through.  5:15 today if you use fairy dust.

That video was funny, Mindy! I'll have to show Willa that later. I think she'll get a kick out of it.

We're supposed to get a foot of snow tomorrow! Woot woot!!

I had no idea it snowed in AZ, except for maybe up in Flagstaff. Indifferent  I have to say that I'm surprised at the FL temps too.  For some reason I thought it was always tropical and warmish there.

Florida was NOT tropical and warmish last winter.  Dang near froze to death the ONE lousy winter that I lived there.  Brrrrr!
