Mindless Ramblings on a Tuesday

Don't get me started on appointments... I was thinking last night my dentist office is probably screwing me. Every time I go in for a teeth cleaning it results in SEVERAL more appointments needing to replace fillings that are old. Ok they are old but do that all NEED to be replaced? Then they had to do a filling on a tooth they are going to crown after the first of the year. WTF! When I told them not until Jan, they said "don't you want to use up your allowed dental coverage before the end of the year?" Uh NO! Not unless necessary, and if I have some left over... WHY ARE YOU CHARGING ME SO MUCH MONEY BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T COVER IT!!!!  I am so crabby about this. I am almost going to not go in for the crown. They filled the tooth... it is fine, not bothering me why are they crowning it? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I cranked the heat up in our office. We have a thermostat, so I cranked it to 80. It is warmer, I emailed myself and my "boss" who is out today in case I forget to turn it back down.

Ann, you need a new dentist. It sounds like they are milking you and your ins co for all its worth. And I'm sorry but fillings do not need to be replaced unless they are crumbling. "Old" pfft

Kind of what I was thinking too lately.

Is it time to go home yet? I don't want to work... so much for being productive.

I can't believe it's 9:30 and I haven't accomplished a darn thing here. I almost called in sick today and based on my productivity, I probably should have.

Paige - I hope you feel better and it's good to know that the morning sickness isn't really morning sickness.

Tina - sorry about your leg still hurting. Is it a pulled muscle.

I hope Callie is doing better today.

    From Paige yesterday -

Cathy- your niece could have just un-friended without that kind of nastiness.  Do you talk to your sister at all?  Geez, all I can think is "In the spirit of Christmas, I will friend you, then immediate unfriend you AND let you know I have no desire to communicate with you!"  What the hell did you do to this girl??  lol

My sister passed away from a drug overdose a few yrs ago and I'm realizing that her daughter isn't very different from her. My sister could be mean and manipulative too. My niece just had her 3rd baby and all have different fathers. She's a mess! When my dad passed away, my niece and nephew were sent a copy of his trust and saw that he'd changed it and written them out. I think they blame me and my brother for that but we had nothing to do with it. If they'd have just called, written or visited my dad in those last years of his life, he'd have taken care of them nicely. I got an email from my SIL and she'd gotten a friend request also but hadn't and won't respond to it. On a childishly positive note, after I got the email saying she'd made a mistake, I checked FB and she hadn't unfriended me yet, so I at least got the pleasure of doing that myself Stick out tongue

I'm sad for Elizabeth Edwards and her children. I hope her passing is peaceful.

Don't get me started on appointments...

Meeeeee too -- yesterday a.m. had an appt for 8 at Centra Care (walk-in clinic) for my eye.  We were THERE at 7:30 waiting for them to open the doors.  It was like 30 out and we had an appt so David didn't go barrelling out of the car to get "in line".

We got in there and was told we "had to be there 20 minutes prior to the appt time to be seen then".  We WERE - you just didn't have the door open.  Oh it was not pleasant.  Bottom line an 8 appt is worthless because they open the doors at 8 so by their own definition you can't be seen til 8:20!

I'm going to survive Ha -- eye is some better today - still really weepy and sensitive to light.  So I'm not on the 'puter much cos it irritates.  I'm trying to sleep thru all of this so my eye will heal faster - if I can't sit in front of the computer I'm "cooked".   Hopefully I can go back to work tomorrow.

Stay warm everbuddy!  Deb, thanks for the Christmas card and good luck getting the pins out.  Good thots to all of you with sucky job problems right now and hopefully we'll all make it thru the week.

You and I posted at the same time -- I'm so sorry you're having to go thru all this crud as well -- families can just be 'over the top' sometimes.

That's just silly Callie, you were there! They shouldn't start booking appts. then until 8:30! I'm glad your eye is a bit better. I remember as a kid I got something in my eye once and scratched it. Scariest thing ever! They had to prop my eye open to keep me from blinking, get the foreign object out and assess the damage (none serious thankfully!). The ONLY good thing was I got to wear a patch for awhile lol, so I pretended to be a pirate.

Cathy, I think I pulled a muscle in the front of my thigh (not the hamstring, though) and the pain is radiating from my pelvic bone down to my knee.  I iced it at lunch and took some ibuprofen.  My biggest problem is that it felt better, so I walked dogs on Sunday at the shelter and think I aggravated it again.

Deb, good luck at your doctor's appointment this afternoon!.

Hamstring is at the back of the leg, no? The quadricep muscle is the huge muscle in front and I can imagine that would be very, very painful. I hope the ice, ibuprofen and rest help soon.

Speaking of muscles, the creepy guy at my gym tried to give me some advice on using a machine yesterday. The guy is probably 70ish, short and chubby and looked like he'd spilled mustard all over the front of his sweatshirt. That wasn't the worst part though. His breath smelled so awful that I actually felt queasy while he was talking to me.  Ick!

Deb, good luck at the Doctor today.

I think I might have finally slipped over the edge of sanity.  I spent two hours outside "pushing" snow.  It's real light and fluffy, so not a big deal to do and no shoveling involved.  However, there is a LOT of area to push, and I didn't finish.  I did the parking area which is roughly 70-75 foot long and 2.5-3 vehicles wide, up one side of the U and also cleaned out the area around the mail box, and then did 1/2 of the other side of the U.  DS almost got slapped when he asked why I'd picked the Mail box side to do over the other one!  LOL!  Just told him that I didn't want to be selfish playing in the snow and wanted to be sure to leave him some to play in too!  We ended up with almost 6 inches of the fluffy white stuff!  Now I think it's time for hot chocolate....and maybe a truffle or two.

    • Gold Top Dog

     Oo, I want a truffle...

Dr's appt today (apparently today was the day for those). All normal and boring and kid still solidly in there.

I'm wondering why it's considered acceptable to comment on pregnant people's bellies? Yesterday, no less than three people commented on my stomach size (which isn't even that large as pregnant bellies go). Perhaps my not being a "pregnancy" person (even with the easiest pregnancy ever, I'm not really into being pregnant...it's about the baby, rather than being 'yay, rah pregnancy'...if I could have picked a baby off a baby tree I would have, lol) is part of it, but I'd never consider commenting on someone's stomach, pregnant or no.  Just seems rude to me.  *shrug*

Ah well, final two week countdown. The kid had better be on time (or early)

    • Gold Top Dog

Comments, and worse....touching!  Why on earth do total strangers feel the need to reach out and touch someone ELSES body????  Really?  It's ok to touch me just because I'm pregnant? (which of course I haven't been for decades, but).  So, yeah, I hear you!

    • Gold Top Dog

Having never been pregnant (nor ever planning to be pregnant) I can't personally relate. However, I don't make remarks on a pregnant girl's belly and I would consider it rude to just touch the belly! I don't think being pregnant suddenly means your stomach is open conversation or public property! It's probably a good think I'm not planning on having children lol, the first stranger to touch my belly would end up with a black eye!

Hope the last two weeks go by smoothly for you and your little one comes on time!

ROTFLMBO!  That is right next to the Money tree isnt it? Wink

    • Gold Top Dog

Cathy, yes, that's the quadricep in the front I think.  I know the hamstring is in the back; my anatomy & physiology is a little rusty.

Grab, Glenda is right, people always comment or touch.  Or tell their own pregnancy horror stories, or ask stupid questions.
