Mindless Ramblings on a Tuesday

I am headed back to "my" store today.  I have not been there for a week !  Between days off and babysitting the other store.......it's gonna feel a bit weird but a relief at the same time.

The assistant manager at the other store is a very capable young woman.  The manager (who took an emergency leave of absence last week) did a lousy job of training her.   Now they are severely shorthanded (one of the part timers quit yesterday) and lacking in experienced leadership.   UGH ! 

Cold cold and more cold is the forecast.  Single digit highs later in the week.

If you find out, let us know would you? My hubs and I have been suffering from the same thing for a few days. I am begining to think it is some new mysterious bug going around.

My "boss" (not really my boss anymore) is not in today, I have the office to myself. YEAH much more productive when she is gone. 

I think I need to go upstairs and see if they have the yummy Haney's Cinnamon Spice tea... need something to warm me. If not I guess I will just have to get another mocha. Not that they aren't yummy too, just more expensive. 

Gabby is pretty much house trained. She asks to go out and everything. She had an accident today but that was DH's fault. I told her to let her out, and he took her to the basement, so she pooped there. GGGRRRRR!!!!!!

I am seriously loving my little pup.

Oh our patio is done! It looks bootiful. I will try to get pics this weekend... when I see it in the light of day again.

since I know everyone is waiting with bated breath.....or is that baited??  Temp here is 21, feels like 11 degrees, we have four measured inches of light fluffy powder on the ground, and the snow continues to fall.  EVEN with a light powder it took me 20 minutes to clean off the car this morning.  I did start pushing snow, but then realized that it's falling so fast that it fills in rather quickly so I might as well wait until later.

The snow is actually very, very pretty, so I'm not really fussing about it. Meantime, Mom and my Sis are getting hit with FIVE straight days of lake effect storms!  Yowzer!

I'm frrrrreezing!!!  I live in the south to avoid these kinda frigid temps!  Weatherlady on the news last night said it's a Canadian front.  Canadians, ya know I love ya, but seriously, you can keep the cold weather, k?

I'm waiting very impatiently to hear if my SS package reached its recipient.  Now that it's out of my hands, I am getting very restless waiting for it to arrive, lol.

 I think I was too tired to feel the cold this morning. I'm in zombie mode.

Abbie had a ripped baby toe nail and is limping. We have a vet appt in about an hour so she's in the car right now, hopefully sleeping (I park underground so it's not as cold) and not licking her paw. I swear that dogs wears a head cone more than any other dog I've had. She's prone to accidents and injury. This is why I worry about using her for SAR.

I had a doc appt today that I have waited a month for. I never got a reminder call though so I suspected that somehow the appt got wiped off the books. Sure enough, I called and they had no record of me having an appt today. ARRGGGGH. Needless to say, I got tomorrow's appt first thing but that leads me to question - why did it take a month to get an appt in the first place!

Rascal is totally loving his new bed from Secret Santa. It's hard to get him out of the darn thing. He especially likes how he can pile his squeakies up around the bed and then drape his head over the sides and stare lovingly at them while he snoozes. Such a hedonistic pup.

Sending everyone lots of good thoughts. Callie, I really really hope your eye is feeling better soon!!

Also, PSA: I know the holidays can be a very difficult and stressful time, for some people more than others. So y'all take care of yourselves extra well this month, mmmkay? Let's all get through the holidays as happy and healthy as possible :)

I think my feelings about the healthcare industry in general would be significantly improved if more doctors had good front desk staff!!

So true! I used to see this great doctor, but the people taking the appts. and checking people in were PITA. They were rude, condescending, etc. I finally had enough. I told the doctor I'd no longer be visiting his practice because the rest of his staff treated the customers like second rate citizens. 

The docs office I go to now is fantastic. ALL of the staff I've come into contact with are pleasant, friendly, helpful. If you call to get an appt. for something out of the ordinary, they'll bend over backwards to fit you in. I wish more medical offices would take cues from them!

My co-worker's cat Odie will be crossing over on Thursday morning.

I had told Deb in an email that my leg was feeling a lot better, but today it is not.  I forgot to take some ibuprofen before I left for work, too.  And I forgot the milk I was bringing for my cereal (lunch).

We finally got programmable locking thermostats in the office!  I was so happy I could have kissed the boss!

The massage did me a world of good.  I am feeling so much better today and I can move my hands again.  This girl is just 2 minutes away from the office and she is very reasonable.   I will be seeing her again I'm sure!

Going to have our girls only office White Elephant gift party tonight.  It was so much fun last year.  We have dinner at our supervisor's home and sit around in our comfy clothes and pig out and laugh and exchange presents.

I think I've had enough of the winter wonderland for today.  The firewood supply was down to not much of anything, after I filled the stacker on Sunday, so made a large number of trips with 4 or 5 logs at a darned time because today the shoulder refused to cooperate and let me lift the bin I normally use.  Now why it allows the same number of logs hugged to me.......

I do totally love the woodstove tho.  It is 72 degrees and there is NO heat on in the house.  That's upstairs away from the woodstove.  I think it's probably at least 80 downstairs, which is just how the boy likes it.

I just finished doing a large majority of my Christmas shopping on Amazon and couldn't be happier that I didn't have to leave my desk!  And free 2 day shipping makes it even better!  Sent items straight to the people who we won't see and had the others shipped to me.  I took the plunge and got my mom, dad and brother Kindles.  This will be there Christmas and Bday presents, but I also have realized that we have been rather generous with other family member's and gift giving, so it was even easier to justify because of that.  I know they will all love them! 

I still need to order my MIL and FIL.  I always get her special coffee and him a food basket usually with special meat in it.  Anyone have any suggestions on some great places to check out?  Last year I got Peet's coffee and his always comes from Hickory Farms.

We met with the realtor last night and will meet again on Thursday.  I am getting slightly cold feet, but also thinking about an incredible opportunity to buy my aunt's house assuming the inspection goes OK.  It is large, with a huge lot, and very old big pecan trees.  The elementary school is rated very well, the house is priced low but it does need a lot of work which we would be OK with.  I am just not sure whether I want to live in the location and the surrounding neighbors/neighborhood.  It is just an older neighborhood.  But I would love to keep the house in the family assuming it doesn't have horrible horrible problems and most of the work needed is cosmetic and just updating.  Hmmmm......There are also a lot of others out there that are drawing me in.  Let's hope the realtor things we can sell ours for a decent amount.  If so, we have a busy weekend ahead to paint a little and declutter!
