Where and How does your dog sleep?

Just as a point of information, telling someone to Lighten up, is also considered poor form and rude.

I actually take this forum very seriously. Yes, there are fun and silly threads, but there are a lot of really important threads where people need...and find...real help.

I simply pointed out to you that no one understands your tone when you use odd little punctuation to convey that tone. That's what the smileys are for. If you choose not to use them and continue to be misunderstood, that's your choice.

Point taken, and I apologize for saying that. I take it serious here too as I have asked questions that were to help me train Panda, and other questions on proper discipline and such. This topic though, is meant for fun, kind of like my other topic on what the users dog is currently doing. Again, I replied to let you know what I meant by the "shifty eyes" and the thmbs up, the dancing, was for fun. I apologize for being rude.

    OK then.  Cool.

One thing to keep in mind is that some of us didn't grow up on the internet and the little shortcuts and symbols are not something we understand.  Tends to make us feel like "old farts"! [:o]

ummm, one other "little" thing?  I had Jaime make me a really nice signature that includes my NAME, cuz when the forum changed, my name disappeared from my "handle"!  [:D]

So you are actually Glenda... not Glenmar... correct?

ah, well, I suppose I should have known better than to post in this thread, but I just wanted to see if anyone here had outside dogs...flame me if you must...

    You will not be flamed.
    • Gold Top Dog
    Yep, that would be me.

I don't have outside dogs.  I actually enjoy having them around.  They spend a good amount of time outside playing during the day, but they also like to be inside with mom, so, so be it.  Evenings are great because everyone just kind of plops around the living room and one or two climb up and snuggle on the sofa with me.....it's a neat feeling to be surrounded by six german shepherds!  I don't personally understand having dogs live outside all the time, but that's me.

At night, Cassidy sleeps on her bed on the floor in my room, and Mirelle in the corner on her blankets; she is shut in so she doesn't chew up or get into anything. Sometimes Cassisy sleeps by the door ( it is shut at night) since it's cooler there. She used to sleep on my bed quite a bit--on the foot-- but she hasn't done that in a long time!! [:(]

During the day...Cass has a dog bed upstairs in the living room; Mirelle has a crate but hardly ever goes in it by herself now. They both like to lay in the hallway, on the linoleum. Also, underneath the computer desk, and then Mirelle has taken a liking to going down to my room to lay on Cassidy's bed ( it is cooler down there). Or else they'll lay in the middle of the floor or whatever. Cassidy is usually outside most of the day ( by her own choice; she likes it out there), and comes in to lay in the living room in the later evening. They both lay all stretched out; Mirelle sometimes curls up, though.

    Hi Glenda
I don't believe in "outdoor" dogs either. They are social and want their humans close by. But, many think of their dogs as possessions, not companions, so people like us will just never understand becasue we are on a whole different wavelength. My 3 Chinese Cresteds sleep in bed with me; one by my feet, one by my head and one varies his position at will. [;)]

Tivo starts by sleeping under the bed beneath me. In the middle of the night, he comes out and sleeps on the folded bed spread next to my side of the bed. During the day, he curls up on the couch between some beanie pillows. He's the love of our lives.

My dogs do spend a fair amount of time outside during the day.  But when they want to come in, they let me know in no uncertain terms and then they'll cluster around where ever I am and just hang out with me.  This is only problematic when I've ignored certain warning signals and have to HURRY to the bathroom to avoid leaving a puddle!  And sometimes navigating around six german shepherds is a hassle, but it's a GOOD hassle.  And they are typically pretty good about moving when I ask, and not getting in my way.

My dogs are not furry humans.  They are dogs and we all know that.  However, they are loved like children....they're kind of my second family I guess.  And once in a blue moon if I've spent the afternoon cooking THEIR dinner, we'll do take out cuz I don't feel like cooking anymore!  Once in awhile the guys grumble that "the dogs eat better than WE do"...but that's pretty rare! Gracie sleeps on any one of her 3 dog beds that are placed in areas we are usually in. There's one in our bedroom, one in the living room and one in the office. Our bed and couches are off limits to doggies. That is cat territory to give Casey a "safe" place to call his own.

Here's a photo taken a few months ago of Gracie on her bed in the office. She used to collect toys and sleep on them until she realized that no one was going to take them away from her.
