sigh* I wish doc's would be more careful throwing this A word out and about the way they do. Lily went thru a stage where she was terrified of the docs too. She was SURE she was getting a shot or something awful. Not suprisingly this was shortly after she had a urinary thing and they needed to use a CATHETER on her...at about 2-3 years old. Yeah trauma at that age...even the relatively minor trauma of frequent visits for an illness...can do that to kids. It does not mean they have autism. That is something you rule out or in with extensive TESTING...not like that *snaps fingers*.

Pet peeve...sorry...but you can understand why I bet LOL.

Yep, I knew you would understand.  She (her JRA) doc didn't actually say those words to me but it was in the report I got a couple of weeks later.  She did temper it when we talked that she doesn't see alot of little ones so it may be normal, but to bring it up just in case.  Keep in mind this was right after she got removed from dance class because of behavioral issues and we had to cancel school because she refused to potty train.

I LOVE my pediatrician, he is so even keel, practical, down to earth, etc.  He said he's got one like Riley at home too (he has 5 kids) and they figured she would either become President or end up in prison.  LOL  He set my mind totally at ease.  I don't think people (meaning some docs and nurses) realize how much she has been through the past year with the blood tests, eye exams, MRI's, x-rays, doctor after doctor, etc.  They think I am just being high maintenance when I ask everyone to take off their "whites", etc.  Her ped doc totally gets it.  He gave me a list of books that would help us better understand Riley and her behavior and how to work with it, not against it.  He also said that he can tell how she greets him (warm, smile, inviting, etc.) says alot of her personality, etc.  He sees past the freaking out and sees my lively little peanut in all her wonderful vivacious self.

ETA - he also said that so frequently now a days everyone wants to label their kids and its totally unnecessary and that I shouldn't have to put myself through an autism testing and listen to a lot of psycho babble when she shows zero signs of autism outside of the doctor's office.

Willa had a dentist this morning and she freaked out too! "STOP BRUSHING MY TEETH ANYMORE!" she screamed at the poor hygienist. Then she stopped crying long enough to say, "Willa being naughty." lol She did not like the taste/texture of the fluoride they painted on her teeth, either. But she got a new toothbrush, toothpaste, a princess flosser, and she got to pick a prize from the basket. She chose a pencil. Hmm Whatever, she was happy with it. And she was totally fine once it was all over.

Too Funny!  The first time Riley went (she hasn't been back yet), she bit her like 5 times!  The lady was getting really pissed, even though I warned her like 10 times.

    OK FUNNY FOR THE AFTERNOON

Dr D's office just called me to tell me they can get Billy in half an hr early -- the gal involved didn't call back 'earlier' because her dog ate her cell phone.  "So I have to call periodically to get the messages".

And .... I got the mental image of this lovely Tereuven being told to "lean left a little hon so your rib will press the 'select' button and I can hear the message??"

Sorry -- I am tired.  But that was what I thot when she said "call periodically to get the messages".

hmmmm -- I wonder how she gets him to delete the old messages??  "exhale as you sit while I press here between your ribs??"

    Go back to work Callie.

I work too.  I have an OCD thing about cleaning - I either go way over the top cleaning and decluttering or if it gets too overwhelming, I just sit there and look at it and don't do it at all.  I find once the house is clean, I tend to keep it spotless for like a week, but then somehow, clutter and objects start to pile up in places and don't find their way back to wherever they belong, then before long, there is stuff just everywhere then I find it really hard to want to start the cleaning process.  Like now, we've been renovating our basement washroom, so there are tools all over down there and DH just bought his bird supplies for breeding season, so there are supplies all over downstairs as well, and he's been re-arranging his fish tanks and selling a bunch of fish, so there is that equipment all over as well.

I guess the good news is, this flea/lice business is going to force me to do a lot of laundry and vacuum every little square inch so things will get tidied - I will then just have to work harder to KEEP it that way and keep up on the clutter.

I am so grossed out about the fleas.  I don't think it would be something else with the birds Paige, they really don't pick up any "critters" that transfer to dogs.  At least, not that I have heard of.......ewww.

Ever want to just slap someone through the computer screen?? Yeah, that's how my days going! URGH!

Finally home and it was a VERY long day.  The reason I went to Boston was for DS's job...he had to fill out his paperwork and also get the tools that he'll need.  What he's doing is basic road side assistance for flats, dead batteries, lock outs and out of gas calls.  This is a really low call volume area, so rather than pay him per call, he's on salary, which is frankly, a pretty decent salary for sitting on his rear and waiting for a text message.  He loves Detroit traffic, but didn't want to drive in Boston traffic so I went with him....gave me the chance to visit The Christmas Tree Shop!

Unfortunately, we hit a bad patch of fog on the way back and rain, so the last hour or so was pretty miserable.

But, I'm back and ready to kick a little tail!

    He loves Detroit traffic,

He can come drive me to work everyday!  Although there are many places 1000% worse, Detroit traffic can be downright scary.  For those not from Detroit, the speed limit on I-696 is more like the minimum.  If you aren't going 70 mph you best be getting off the freeway because you will have tire tracks on your roof.

Well, that's good.  I was thinking of the bird mites that can test out an intermediary host (like the dogs) and cause skin irritation.  Ick, I have the heebie jeebies thinking about it.  As a matter of fact, I've been dusting here and cleaning like a mad woman thinking about dust mites. lol

"Willa being naughty"... but also adorable in an after-the-fact-story-telling way.  Hug her from Auntie Paige

Absolutely right that driving in Detroit traffic is frightening.....those people seem to have major attitude issues when they get behind the wheel and they are agressive as heck....I'd take a ticked off rottie over a Detroit driver anyday!

So glad I do not live in Arkansas. They let 14 year olds legally drive.Indifferent

We do drive pretty fast here. I was having lunch with a police officer the other day and we were joking about how you can safely go 5-10 mph over without getting pulled over but in OH they will pull you over for going 4 mph over the speed limit. And their speed limits are slower than ours to begin with! I love our ticket "policy" personally. So long as you are driving the same as 85% of the other driver are going you are relatively safe. I can't remember the latest number for detroit but 85% of traffic drives 82 mph (or something close to that). I'm comfortable right around 80mph.

Careful, Julie! A friend's wife just got a $200 speeding ticket for going 14mph above in Detroit. Don't get cocky! :-p

Poor Will, last night two ticks.  Now, today she's got a big girlie rash on her privates.  I had to put ointment on it and she wasn't thrilled with the whole thing.  She keeps jumping off her bed and trying to lick the area and growling at it.   And, her ears are down.  It's pitiful.   She'll be OK though.

See thats exactly what I find scarey in Detroit.  Wall to wall cars going 80+mph and they don't hesitate to shove you out of the way, and into someone elses way.

    poor Willow.....

Yep, heard that from a cop too...except he was pulling me over for 15 mph over so...sigh

Our tickets are expensive here.  I got pulled over in Milwaukee for 19 mph over and it was only like 75 bucks!

I know it seemed like Wisconsin drivers drive slower and their speed limit is lower too, it was a huge adjustment for me.  Chicago driving was more my speed.
