Tuesday Mindless Ramblings

    Tuesday Mindless Ramblings

I'm surprised this hasn't been started yet! It's cold and dreary here today. I'm hoping the rain will hold off for an afternoon walk, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I've been pulling TICKS off Ari like crazy. This is NOT normal for this time of the year and I'm not pleased. One bite is particularly bad so I'll have to keep my eye on it.

I'm hoping the weekend hurries up. This week is already dragging.

    Hope everyone is doing well!

DS was going to go out of town for a few days, but plans changed, so he's still at home.  I was hoping for a bit of peace & quiet, so am a little bummed.

My clothes are bugging me today.  The shirt I have on, the sleeves keep riding up.  And my pants, I bought a couple pairs of those Gloria Vanderbilt "Amanda" jeans - one pair khaki, the other olive green.  Well, the khaki ones have one big spot that faded out inexplicably, so I re-washed them and thought they were okay.  They looked okay at home, but I when I was out in the daylight this morning, the faded area looks bigger and even more obvious.  So I look crappy and am slightly ticked that my newest pants are junk already.

It's David's birthday.  I did *not* guess well on a couple of things for him, we're both WAY too tired and they day has WAY too much to be done before it's begun.  Billy's got a raging UTI and he's already on antibotics and herbs that aren't working so in addition to dinner out for birthday I have to fit in an evening vet visit.  "bummed" is a good choice of words LOL.

But hey -- at least I'm coughing a bit less.

Scooting out the door to Boston.

    Have a great day everyone!

If they aren't that old, return them.  I have zero shame in returning defective things.  Uneven fading, imo, is defective.

I have a review this morning.  I'm ready to get it done, so that I can get back to work.  The darn thing is wasting an hour of my day!

Deb, how's the toe this morning?  That pin still poking your pinkie toe?  I'd have moved it myself but I'm weird that way.

Glenda, are you going to Boston for that job?  Good luck, whatever the reason.

Tina, take those jeans back.  I've bought those jeans before and it seems like if I buy them at Kohl's there is a wide diversity in quality. :(   I'm sorry your son decided to stay home.

Callie, sorry your gifts to David didn't all work out.  I'm really sorry that Billy has a UTI.  Birthday dinner and vet visit.  Yep, dog people find nothing strange about this.

It's gorgeous here today.  Very cool this morning but getting up to 70 this afternoon.  Gabby was quite puzzled watching my new exercise routine this morning.  The head tilts were so funny sometimes I laughed at loud.

Karen, how's B this morning?  Are you going to the ortho with him?  All of his fans are thinking of him and you.

Those on FB have heard my whining about my back already...but. IT HURTS!

I have never had back problems...never...not even when I was PREGNANT. Why now? I recall doing nothing much aside from sweeping the driveway Sunday. I am so friggin OLD!!

Back spasms suck. I will never laugh at another athlete for not playing thru them again. You flat out can't do anything!

Rained fiercely last night for about 15 minutes. All clear this morning but cooler than it has been...more normal for the time of year....high 40's low 50's. Lovely light out in the yard now...wish I could go shoot some pics. But my 10 minutes of upright sans pain time is about up! Time to lay down again. UGH!

Good thoughts to all that need them this Tuesday!

Gina, what did you do to your back?

I am sorry that your in pain. Back spasms are a bite in the butt. I had them so bad 1 time last fall that I woke up balling my eyes out from the pain. I went and got medication the very next day.

    Hope you feel better.

I've been pulling TICKS off Ari like crazy.

Yup, same here!  I pulled two off Willow last night.  I haven't even taken her in the woods or anything.

Gina, what did you do to your back?

That's the thing. I can't remember doing anything...aside from sweeping! arrgh!

Good to know about the ticks. I haven't put any flea / tick stuff on my dogs in a few months but was considering buying some today. Now I think it may be a good idea. We are right in that time of year where the weather is so unpredictable. It'll be freezing one day and you'll see mosquito's the next.

I'm ready to nail Lily to the wall. She woke me up at midnight last night, then at 2:30am then again at 6am. I am open to suggestions on how to break her of this habit as it is very obviously behavioral. Each time she went outside and just sniffed around for 5-10 mins then came back in. I tried ignoring her whining / barking but she is very persistent.

I can NOT wait to get to the Doc's and get this freakin pin re-aligned.

    That is all.

Gina, I asked because I also don't remember doing anything to mine. There are a few things that can be the culprit if you do not "remember" doing anything.

Stress, fatigue, dehydration, loss of salts--especially sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium--can disrupt ion balances in both muscle and nerves.

You might want to look your diet over carefully and see if any of these apply.

Happy Birthday to David!! Sorry the gifts didn't work out so well. I'm mostly a failure at getting stuff for DH too :(

Tina - I agree about taking the pants back and I'm sorry you're not getting the break you were looking forward to from your son.

Gina - Sorry about your back. I've only had spasms like that a couple times but I usually knew what I did to injure it. DH and BFF both have back problems tho and I know it can come on out of the blue. Ice seems to help them both the most and also Ibuprofen. The dr. told DH to take 800mg at a time when it's really bad. If you're in a ton of pain tho, you might need to see a dr. Flexeril is what they give for spasms and my friend says Tramadol is the best for the pain.

It's a gorgeous morning again and I wish I had the day off. It's going to be 72 today and then starts a cool down tomorrow.

I wanted to use the 2x4 on DH last night. I'd made fajitas and when I asked how he liked them, he said the chicken was a little dry. He has always been super complimentary about my cooking but lately he's been really nitpicking. So, I mentioned that and said that I thought it might be related to the job. I meant that maybe he was around a bunch of people who are critical of stuff and he was picking up on that. You know what he said? He said "yeah, you may be right. It's just that I get so used to the good food when I'm working. These people really know how to cook" If he'd have said that with a smile, I'd have laughed along with him but he was totally serious....omg - I wanted to throw something at him. Super Angry

Callie, sorry about all the things you have going on.  Tell Davey Happy Birthday!  Hope Billy gets some relief soon.

Gina, sowwie about the back pain.  I've not really had any issues and I hope to not ever have any, I am a wuss when it comes to pain.

Tina, tell DS to take a hike for a few days LOL.  And I would also be returning those pants, I love Old Navy stuff but on occassion I find some subpar items and usually return it if I have a receipt.

It's cooler and rainy here as well.  I spoke with my boss the other day, sort of a "I graduate in a month, what's the deal?" sort of talk.  Basically, he really values me, would love to give me the appropriate promotion but funds are tight... if we get a good score on a grant in Feb it's the top of his list to take care of me.  But, he understands my priorities and won't ask me to wait around for something that isn't a sure bet, so if I find something else he's more than happy to write me a fantastic letter of recommendation, etc.  It wasn't what I wanted, but I value his honesty and that he's terrific about folks doing what is best for them, even if it isn't the same as what's best for him.  Now I have to get my butt in gear and go job hunting for real.  I kept having this in my back pocket, thinking he would be able to make it happen, so for the most part I've avoided hardcore searching.

Sammy *finally* seems to be recovered from his cupboard binge the other day.  crazy dog.  He certainly was feeling the effects, since he's a pancreatitis dog, but finally is acting more normal.

ETA - Cathy, that would drive me nuts.  DH knows that if he criticizes I won't cook anymore.  I do want honesty *if* I specifically ask, and then and only then is he allowed -- like for a new recipe.  Otherwise, he better just eat and be happy he didn't have to cook :)
