    Tues chat

I got my little rat terrier temp foster last night. He is a cutie!!! Sweet little thing too but boy does he howl in his crate. He would put a coyote to shame. Abbie has put on her best "this is my house you are just in it" attitude. She can be so bitchy.

After training last night we noticed someone had dumped 7 rabbits in the parking lot. It was 40 degrees out at 10pm! They were all huddled up in the corner of a wire crate with straw a toy and a water bottle. Weird. Our trainer was taking care of it when I left but I was half planning to bring them home at least for the night. I will have to call and check on them to make sure they at least got pulled inside.

My sinuses are crazy today bleh

Slow morning here on the forum.

Still busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest at work.

Am reading the book "Shutter Island", probably the basis for the movie (which I didn't see).  It's pretty good - don't tell me the end, Deb!

Hopefully Cher is recovering from her tulle encounter.

Jennie, sounds like you have answers for Bean, so at least a direction to go.

Jackie, how is Twister's foot today?

Julie, I hope the bunnies are okay.  We get rabbits at our shelter periodically that we are lucky enough to adopt out relatively quickly.  Couple of weeks ago, we had two pet rats turned in.  I think they also got adopted.  Not my thing, but hope they are safe wherever they went.

    Back to the grind.

ETA: did anyone see that there are cherry cordial M&Ms out for the holidays?  I'm not into cherry, but thought that was interesting in a useless trivia sort of way.

Cher... why on earth did you find Tulle edible? and HOW did you eat two full feet of it?

Dogs continue to amaze me with the odd things they find enticing to eat. Rocks, wood, now tulle... really I've heard it all.

I have a short week this week, off Thu. and Fri. and I cannot wait to use that time to run the sled dogs. You all are gonna hate me, but I'll say it... I CANNOT WAIT FOR SNOW!!!!!

Julie - how are the bunnies? I have a soft spot for bunnies though I cannot have them due to the prey driven nature of teh dogs I share my life with.

My chickens are suicidal. They keep leaving the reinforced coop built to protect them from the massecre's that have behallen the previous two generations. I haven't even named this batch, but I do like the girls and wish they wouldn't think the grass was greener on the other side since it's just not safe!

I've been trying to help someone updated their anti virus software.  Frustrating because he can't control his clicker finger.  I just want to push him out of the way and do it myself but he says he wants to learn how to do it.  I'ts so easy I don't know what there is to learn except maybe how to read instructions.

Next on the day's agenda is another few hours on the phone with Sprint.  I can hardly wait.  Yesterday's time spent on this little issue had me ready to throw in the towel but I will perservere and I shall get this solved.  I may have a huge lump on my forehead from all the head banging on desk activity.

Cherry cordial M&M's.  Hmm, I might have to try those.  Just for research purposes, of course.

Twister is still limping this morning and is in obvious pain.  I left him at home today to rest up.  He's going in tomorrow morning.  I'm probably overreacting to a soft tissue injury but I can't help myself.  I'm ridiculously attached to the little guy.

I hope Cher is feeling better this morning.

I want to say Thank You Lord for the gorgeous weather - we had a real bad year really but October and (so far) November are just stunning!

I have recently discovered my new favorite laundry detergent Arm & Hammer Power Gel, its amazing and you only use a tiny bit!  Our water is slightly acidic so normally no soap really suds but this one does really well, smells great and seems to do an awesome job. And no I'm not usually excited by laundry soap Wink

Sadly one of the farms that backs to some houses on the other side of our street has sold off land - well that's what the consensus is, they started clearing the land on Saturday, and yesterday and today they are behind the house directly opposite us.  I was shocked at how close to those people's property it was - the lots here are minimum an acre, but I guess theirs is wide and shallow.  Anyway this is uprooting an incredible amount of wildlife, so sad.  The land was just buffer completely wild and natural.  On our way out for our walk I wandered on to their drive to see what they were doing and saw 6 deer seemingly trapped between the machines going through and 'civilization'. I felt sad, Bugsy was licking his chops - 'come here deer, I love you!'  Our whole neighborhood is in an uproar and it does seem a strange time to being trying to sell lots and build new homes.  No one seems to know how much land they sold or how much they have, as a guess I would think they are clearing 50 acres.  Poor wildlife so sad.

OK this isn't getting anything done  - have a good one folks

ETA Jackie I am so sorry that Twister is still limping Sad Hopefully rest is all he needs!

I know how you feel, to some extent.  We don't live in as beautiful a setting as you guys but a few years ago, the land on one side entering our subdivision was cleared and houses and a small playground were built.  I used to see deer and wild turkey in this area often but have rarely seen any since this happened.  Many of the homes built are still sitting empty and unsold.  There is still some undeveloped land behind this area so I hope the wildlife are there but not visible to me anymore.

I'm putting off the call to Sprint as long as possible.

Tina, I might read Shutter Island but I won't ever watch the movie.  I can read scary stuff but can't watch.  I'm reading Rain Gods right now. Burke is one of my favorite authors.

morning all.  Pretty chilly here again this morning, but at least no white or wet stuff falling.  If I look out the front window, the sun is trying to shine, out the back it looks like snow!

One of the radio station transmitters is set up to call the engineer and us if it fails.  For some reason, it thinks it is failing and keeps calling.  This starting last week, took the weekend off, and then started again yesterday.  At one point it was 12 calls withing 75 minutes.  Then it took another break and started up again at 1:15AM.  Struck complete and total terror in my heart to have the phone ring at that hour!  And it kept it up....every time we would doze back off, it would ring.  Todd finally took the phone off the hook around 3:30.....which wasn't the best idea either had there been a real emergency....I hate having my rest interrupted.

Twister....feel better bud!  And what the heck did Cher eat???

    • Gold Top Dog

Cher ate tulle; see Monday's chat.

Jackie, I don't get scared at scary movies.  When "Nightmare on Elm Street" came out way back in 1985, a guy friend took took me to see it because he wanted to scare me.  He jumped, screamed, and clung to my arm through a good portion of the movie; meanwhile, I did not flinch.

Karen, I hate to see that kind of land clearing, too.  Loss of habitat - and we wonder why the predator/prey ratio is so out of balance.

Clearly, that's the trouble with him, eh??  My non-technically savvy person did it here on this computer in like 5 minutes flat, no big whoop, because he followed the instructions, which included uninstalling a different subscription from a different provider.

Twister, punkin, I don't blame mom for being worried about you.  I'd be worried, too, especially with dogs who don't normally limp and show pain.  It freaks you out.  (Raises hand from personal experience.... the vet had to tell me "Paige, we don't go x-raying looking for bone cancer when there are no signs that anything remotely like that is happening.";)

Gracie has a vet appointment today, herself, but it's just follow up lyme vaccine.  I hated coming back here when the vet was surprised that other parts of the country just don't have the things we have, and therefore Gracie wasn't vaccinated against them.

A special needs young Doberman I was trying to help get a home has found a home through my trainer.  Hooray for Max!

You know, I hate when you schedule a service appointment on your vehicle, you drop it off, and the mechanic says "So, when did I tell you I'd have this ready?"  Today, I'm on your schedule.  "Ok, well, if I don't get it done today, I'll do it tomorrow."  DUDE, you're lucky I know how to drive the standard/manual shift now, and that these folks have three cars ready for the road.

    Forgot to mention earlier...

For sale in local paper: Doberman/Pit Bull mix puppies, $150 each

I'm sure they'll go quickly just because of the mix, so I'm even more sure several will end up in the shelter in 6 months or so when they get big and unmanageable.

I didn't think Shutter Island was scary.  Suspenseful, yes, but not scary.  I liked it!

Haven't tried the cherry cordial M&Ms, but the Hershey Kisses ones are awesome.

    Gorgeous weather day here, too.

Hope everyone's having a great day!!

I'm so glad to read that Cher is going to be okay. Since I have 2 dogs that will eat absolutely anything, I understand how this could happen.

My normal 45 min. commute took 1 1/2 hrs this morning. A span of road and bridge is being widened but they took 2 lanes down to 1 starting yesterday and the bottleneck that already existed before is gridlock now. I couldn't even get out of it to take a different route for what seemed like forever. It was clear that I wasn't the only one taking the alternate route either, so that was painfully slow too. The project isn't due to be finished until Feb. I wish I could just work from home until then :(

It's sunny but cold this morning and I think we're supposed to get some rain later today.

I put a pot roast and veggies in the crockpot, so it'll be nice to have a yummy dinner waiting when I get home. Now that the weather has changed, I'll be using my crockpot frequently - yay!

So Mr. Davey jumped in to flesh out Tink's CGC story -- the man deserves big kudos because *I* felt too ratty to go Saturday morning and he's worked all kinds of cra-zay hours lately and he got it done!

Working on a brain-bending project this morning and my brain is just too mushy to do it well.  *sigh*  Wish I could think straight! ack!

Twister I know it's askin a lot of a terrier but take it EZ hon on that foot wouldja?  Mom's got enuf on her plate with nasty phone calls!!

What did Cher do -- eat a home-made pot scrubber?  (I've made zillions of those out of tulle and 2 feet would be just about what it would take).  That's a tough way to get protein Cher!!

    BEVOLASVEGAS

Bev, Cher, & Shooter did a demo at a fall festival on Saturday.  Our head trainer decided that they should look festive, so she tied this pretty "fall orange" tulle around their necks.  Cher & Shooter's fell off pretty quickly, but Bev's stayed on for a while.  After the demo, we walked around & shopped at some of the booths.  Sometime during our shopping, Bev lost his tulle.  I thought that it had came untied & fallen off.  Instead, the evil bitch untied it & ate it. Confused

Tina:  I never saw the end of Shutter Island coming.  I think you'll be surprised !!
