Monday mumblings

forgot to share this weekend funny...

The alarm install guy was here working in the front hall closet on Saturday afternoon. Lily noticed her snake Shadow had shed (AGAIN!) and she was cleaning out the shed and the cage in general. Shadow had a bit of skin left on his tail so I was rinsing him with warm water in the kitchen to loosen and remove it...

I got done with that and Lily called that she was done with the clean up so I am waiting in the living room with a very sprightly Shadow curling all around my arm and hand...he is quite sizeable now, growing like a weed! The alarm guy looks over from the hallway and gets kind of startled...

    "Is that REAL??"

    "Yes...he is my daughter's pet..."

    big eyed disbelief..."Oh...you're DAUGHTER?"...

Lily comes up and confidently unwraps Shadow and calls him a naughty snake and holds him and carries him to her room...she has to pass the guy and he kinda pulled back a bit, Then he looks at me and kinda smiles shakily and shakes his head before getting back to work.

LOL! Seeing a slight little 9 year old girl grab the snake, chastize it and carry it off in front of dude, who was plainly worried made me giggle!

My dad would have run away never to come back or maybe just had a heatattack, LOL!

What is wrong with Twister?  I mustve miss something!

Busy day here, hope everyone has a goood Monday!

Haven't gotten to read yet.  Hope everyone is doing well.

Cher is vomitting, & our vet thinks that it may be a blockage.  We're leaving for an ultrasound soon.  Fingers crossed, please?

    • Gold Top Dog

hopefully Cher is okay, Amanda....good thoughts headed out your way!

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh no, Cher keeping special thoughts for you!

    • Gold Top Dog

Good thoughts for Cher!!  and Twister too and Glenda, hope you can get in soon and have your shoulder taken care of.

Gina, thanks for the well-wishes. I slept great last night, so the sudaphed and robutussin helped out a lot.  Much less coughing this morning, thankfully.  Also, glad to hear you have the security system in and operating. The marshmallow cookout looked like fun :)

Just another typical Moan-day.  I am always eager for Fridays.

    Good thoughts to all :)

Cher and Twister, stop scaring us!!! Feel better, fast, you two.

Bean's Wednesday vet appointment has been pushed up to today, since I got off early. She's having bloodwork and x rays done for general "not right"ness, and stiiffness in her right rear. I'm very excited to hear what's going on, so we can get on the right path to FIX IT!

Cher, be good at the vets - they're all there to help you feel better fast.  *Good thoughts that this isn't a blockage or bloat or any of the other terrors of dog ownership...*

     Fingers crossed for Ms. Cher.

I have the rest of the day off since my car is in the shop. I am going to get back to work in a bit, but I am mostly trying to bang out a very long paper that is due next Saturday. I need to go do a little bit more interviewing. I think the issue with the car is that it has 86,000 miles on it and wants a tune up.

It's cold and windy, but at least the snow is staying north like it should instead of last year (when by mid-February I was considering spending the rest of the winter in CT).  Me and the pups are hanging around the house today. I should try to see if someone can give me a ride to the dog walking group tonight, or maybe I can walk there since it is at the school right beside my house. Hopefully though someone will be able to bring me back home so I don't have to walk back tonight when it's really cold.

Speaking of cold, my legs are freezing, I need to put on some pants instead of capris (hey, I'm in the house for the day, no need to dirty the clothes) or grab a blanket.

Crossed fingers & vibes for Cher, Twister, and Bean.

I like my marshmallows burnt, too.  Preferably squished with chocolate between two graham crackers. Smile

It's been so cold here lately, and now it's getting warm again.  Pick a temperature, dangit! Stick out tongue

Thanks guys.  There is something in her intestine, but it doesn't appear to be blocking her completely.  She is hooked up to fluids right now, & will have an ultrasound repeated around 3 this afternoon.  If the thing is moving through, then we'll continue fluids in hopes that she will pass it.  Otherwise, she'll go into surgery to have it removed.  Thanks for the thoughts.

We have fingers crossed for Twister & Bean here too!

ugh, poor Cher. If it's not totally blocked then fluids will probably do the trick. *crosses fingers* Between Dakota and Abbie, I have had my fair share of dog blockages.

The weather is gorgeous today! I hope it lasts all week. I'm so happy for my window at work. Sunlight makes such a huge difference in my mood :)

Glenda, I hope the shoulder thing works itself out soon.

I'm taking in a temp foster this week. It's some sort of terrier mix that only weighs 19 lbs.  This should be interesting ;p

One of our SAR members finally got her dober puppy for HR work. The one from Tina's shelter had health issues (seizures, etc) so that wouldn't have worked out for a working dog. This new pup (came from KS dobe rescue) has floppy ears and a tail and she looks cute as heck. I can't wait to meet her. I love floppy eared dobes!

Hope Cher is going to be alright, good vibes going her way.

I got the job! I'm now evening kennel manager! It's basically a promotion but I had to go through an interview process. It's not official yet until I get the letter and sign it but it's all mine as of yesterday! That means higher pay, more responsibility and more say in what goes on in the kennel. Not bad for only being there a month. Everyone, including volunteers have been telling me they really like my personality, knowledge about animals and hard work so they are glad I got it. Now I just need to give my ego a rest for a while, lol.

It's hard to see but Eli is holding a stick. Maybe a wire clothes hanger?

Ahh, after you posted this, Cathy I went back and looked very closely and could then see the hanger.  At first it looked like the pic was taken right after the marshmallow was tossed in the air.  Probably should bring those reading glasses of mine to work.

I like my marshmallows before they burn, right when they are really brown.

Hopefully Cher won't need surgery and Twister's foot is okay.

I had a very bizarre dream last night about being at my friend's parents' house and we were sleeping in the same room with my friend's brother.  And of all things I was trying to sort laundry and put it away when Moose came in and jumped on the bed (obviously in the dream).  DS was also running around in the dream somewhere, but as a 10 y.o. kid.

Congrats Xebby!!!!  Good for you!!  As kennel manager, you will be supervising people, right?    I'm guessing you will be the one responsible when one or two or three people don't show up at work due to crummy weather, and all the animals still have to be cared for.  Once you get rolling in the job, prepare some plans in your head about how you'll manage situations like that.  The best laid plans fall apart when you're in the moment, but you will have the decision making process down in your mind.  HOORAY!!
