I have never been so scared...

. Went to the vet, Tootsie isn't even bruised or even acting sore. She did sleep with me last night which is rare. Dr says I'll probably be sore for another month, so nothing major. Car is demolished. I know its just a car, but it was my car. The first words out of the hitters mouth was " I totally spaced the sign" . How does that happen? Its not like stop signs are tiny. I believe they're big and red. Also, when your coming off a side street onto a main arterial, you usually have to stop. But what do I know! I was just driving, doing the speed limit and not bothering anyone and in 5 seconds flat my whole world changed. Does she even realize that my car is a '91 and will be totalled, not to mention not worth s***! I don't know about her, but I just can't go out and buy a new car. People, karma is a bitch and what goes around will come back around and bite you in the ass.

I'm glad that you and Tootsie will be OK!

I totally get how mad you must be.... but, I just want to say, I'm sure it was an accident.  As in, not on purpose, so I'm going to guess that she didn't think about your cars make and model before crashing into it.

I was recently rear-ended, so I know what it's like to be grateful that your dog(s) are OK, and to be sore for a month plus. I also know what it's like to be in the other car.  I understand being angry, but just remember, it was an accident.  And karma comes in all forms, it could be you that hits someone the next time.

Again, I'm so glad that you and Tootsie are OK, I hope the other driver has good insurance.

I know it was an accident. I've already rear ended someone and once you hit someone, you become a cautious cautious driver. I know it was a mistake, but a stop sign come on!

I totally know how you feel. I was hit by someone who blew a stop sign, too. I was so mad I wanted to knock the guy out. Luckily, Rupert wasn't with me.

Bummer about your car. Hopefully you don't get too screwed by insurance and you can get something nice.

Glad you're both ok. Schedule a massage for yourself!

I am so glad that you and Tootsie are safe! I know how devastating it is to be in a car wreck. The one my mom and I were in was horrible and caused by someone running a red light. She admitted that she didn't even try to stop, she just floored it. Getting insurance to cover stuff sucks, but that is the way of insurance I have come to learn. Hopefully, you will be get a good settlement. Luckily, we 'walked away' from that one, though 9 years later we still have problems. I second the massage - several (!) and some acupuncture to help with the soft tissue damage.

Take care of you and hug Tootsie!

Sorry about the car.  I am glad you and Toots are ok!  I would've mammabear'd the bad driver also.

    Feel better (hugs)

Not sure how this works but since it was obviously her fault (she even admitted as much) is there a chance that her insurance company will have to repair or replace your car? I wouldn't expect them to replace it with a brand new one, but surely they can find something from the mid 90's or later.

Glad you two were not hurt too badly.  I don't know how the insurance works where you are, but go slow.  You could both have something hurt that shows up over time.  Be really sure before you settle with insurance.  My son was a passenger in a one car accident.  Insurance made a settlement offer.  We got a lawyer and the amount of the settlement was doubled.

This was not an unavoidable accident.  It was a driver making a mistake, and mistakes with cars can kill.  The other driver is totally at fault, but their insurance may try the old "you were partially at fault for being there".  That's when you start using a lawyer.

Got my rental. 2010 Hyundai Elantra, this car has so many bells and whistles I was scared to drive it because I thought I would break it. I'm going to the dr once a week for the next month just to be safe. Her ins is accepting all liability and are going out of their way to help me.

I'm sure they are.  They hope you will not sue her;-)  But, hopefully, at least you will get a decent car.  The most important thing is that you and your dog are ok.

I am lucky that Toots is a very go with the flow dog. Nothing phases her. Now her mom, thats another story! ;)

Holy cow! I am glad the two of you are OK.

Look at oldkbb.com (I THINK that's the site) for the older model blue book value on your car. What make/model was it? Certain makes hold their values more than others.  You may just get a new car out of this yet!

Hyundai makes some nice small cars and their prices are great.  I saw a 2010 Elatnra the other day for  $7997--BRAND NEW! They are clearing out the '10s to make room for the '11s, so there are super deals out there.

Good luck and glad you're both OK.
