I have never been so scared...

I have never been so scared...

in my life! Someone ran their stop sign to day and decimated my passenger side. The person hit me so hard that my sunglasses flew off and my ribcage felt like it turned. Tootsie was strapped in on the drivers side, thank dog. So I put the car in park , turned it off and immediately turned around to look at Tootsie. There she is panting and trying to get to me. So I reached back, unhooked her and she made her way to my lap and thats when the tears started. The other driver came up and asked if I was okay, big mistake! Mama bear, was on the loose. I shouted through my tears that if she would have killed Tootsie, I would have killed her. Extreme, yes. I did apologize, but I can't even begin to think about Toots being almost killed without crying. I also carry a spare leash and collar in the car, which came in handy.

So this happens on N. 46th and Vassault and my parents live on N. 51st and Vassault. So my dad came right away and just seeing his car brought on the water works. Needless to say, I'm emotionally spent. Oh, 20 years ago the same thing happened to my mom in the same intersection.

So ladies and gents, this is the reason to always buckle your dog up.

Sheesh, glad you guys are ok

I hope you are both ok!!!!  That had to be so extremely frightening!  Thank goodness Tootsie was belted in and you are both ok - is the car a total wreck?  You will probably both really feel the trauma to your bodies tomorrow.....i hope you're ok.....

Getting hit like that is such a shock to the nervous system.  I do hope you're both ok for sure.  In honesty, you should probably go to the dr. and get checked out.  A lot of things from an impact like that aren't immediately felt and if you don't get checked out they won't be covered.

As someone said, you'll both be sore tomorrow -- got any Epsom Salts??  A big handful in a warm bath will honestly go a long way towards helping ward off stiffness.  You never realize how hard you grip the wheel when you get hit like that.

I'm glad your folks were so close and could come help you right away.  Scarey stuff! (I've been there!)

That sounds sooo scary! I'm so glad you and Tootsie are OK. Do get checked out just in case, if you can (just to be on the safe side in case you have some pain down the road). (((hugs)))

I'm going to the dr. tomorrow and Toots is going to the vet, after I get a rental. Physically, we're okay. Its the emotional stuff that is wearing on me.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh geez, I can't imagine!  You poor thing!  I've had a few close calls with dogs on board and even then I am quite rattled.  Be sure to get checked out even for a minor ache or pain.

Something funny, kinda. When the tow guy was unloading my car, the front passenger tire fell off. The entire bar thingie that holds the tires snapped. Totaled, probably.

Man, I'm so sorry! I'm glad you hear you're going to the doctor/vet. I hope that other guy's insurance pays through the nose and gets you a new car, lots of massage and physical therapy if you want it, and some counseling sessions to help you deal with the stress. We're all so glad you're okay!!

wow. I am so glad you are both ok. You were so prepared for your dog, having it strapped in AND having a spare leash and collar as well. What a great owner! Life changes so fast, you were ready to the best of your ability for the emergency, wow.

How scary!  I'm SO glad you're both okay.

    • Gold Top Dog

Definately glad to hear you are both going to get checked out tomorrow.  Don't be surprised if you are a bit more sore tomorrow after a jolt like that.  Scary!

    • Gold Top Dog

OMG! I am so glad you & Toots are ok.  Big hugs to you both!!

I'm already feeling it. My knees must have hit the steering wheel cause they're sore. My neck is a little sore too. I'm sure tomorrow my whole body will be one big ache.

    • Gold Top Dog

Wow !  I am so glad you both are more or less ok.

You are right.  This is another example of why our dogs should be restrained in some way.  Most of us wouldn't think of driving without a seatbelt.  Our dogs should be protected too.
