    Spooky Sunday chat

    Happy Halloween!!

We had NO trick or treaters last night, and last night was the night for our town....however, we are 3 houses from the town line so might have some tonight since it is THEIR night for trick or treating tonight.  May not since it's such an isolated area, but, we'll see!  At least there isn't a ton of candy that will be left over to tempt us...this year I went with individual packets of pretzels.

Well, the shoulder decided that it doesn't like me again.  All I was doing was drying my blasted hair and bam.  Not as bad this time, but bad enough.  I'm not real thrilled with the darned thing and can't wait for the botox injections to settle it down, but I'm afraid there will have to be an MRI with contrast first, and I'm sooooo claustrophobic, even in the so-called "open" machines.......sigh.

Think after the dogs are walked we'll go for a drive and do some exploring.  Still pondering the issues with Thunder.  He's been an absolute angel since the last attack, but I can't trust him anymore.  Not sure how we'll handle his walk today.....we usually take two out into the big field, but I don't know if I want to trust him with someone else.  Maybe Thor since he's never bothered Thor.....

Glenda, sorry about Thunder, tell the weenie head to get his act together!

Power went out for about an hour this morning, not good since it is opening day at the race track.

OK, off to find some mischief to get into.

    Boo!

I didn't buy Halloween candy until yesterday, because I KNEW I'd be dipping into it.  Sure enough...I had about 6 pieces last night.  Zero willpower.  Indifferent

I expect little activity tonight.  Since we live in a semi rural area with no lighted streets, we typically get 2 or 3 big groups and thats about it.  I'm always thanked big by the parents who accompany the groups for having my gate open and offerring treats.  I think most kids out here go to alternative events and parties which is a much better idea anyway.

Well, lots of changes in my life right now.  Mother is moving to her apartment tomorrow.  We are all set.  She is excited, we are excited, its all positive.  I expect some angst over the next month or so as we all deal with the transition, however.

I also got a new job!!!  Same company, same type of role (Executive Admnistrator), just different executive.  The exciting thing about this role change is that my new boss is based in the same city/office as me!  It will be nice to be fully engaged in the daily operations, I think.  Be careful what you wish for, I always say!  Nah, its a good thing....I'm excited.  I'll be playing a dual role for a few weeks before I transition to the new organization fully around Dec 1.  So, wish me luck!

Off to feed the dogs (I'm late and Buddy is letting me know this)...then wash clothes, start packing the Ma and go run errands.

Good luck Glenda with the dogs AND the shoulder.  I'll be thinking of you.

Have a great Sunday!  Happy Halloween!

Laundry's going and lesson plans are underway! I took a sec to look up a state standard online and wham, here I am on iDog. Whoops.

FH promised he'd fill up my car. I told him not to come back without bagels. We'll see.

We're going over my future in-laws tonight to pass out candy :) and have Sunday night dinner. I made BBQ pulled chicken yesterday and F-MIL is in charge of rolls and a vegetable.

Barb, you are so very fortunate that this is a CHOICE for your mom.  I think it's harder on them when the docs say, nope, you can NOT go home again.  So long as you are a frequent "visitor" she should do well.  It's terribly important to my mom that the staff and other residents see her family at the ALF......her generation is very much about what people think and I suspect your Mom might be in that age range too.

So, behind us and off to the side, there are now sheep, imu's (?) and lama.  And according to what the owner told DS, one of the two later varieties is there to protect the sheep from coyotes....will kill anything canine that gets into their pen and may jump the fence if the dogs get too close.  I'm hoping this was just a scare tactic, but will be ubber careful about the dogs not going anywhere near that part of the field.

Dawn, I only wish that telling Thunder to get his act together would do the trick.  And dang it, I wish I had a clear cut answer.

I don't understand having Halloween on a different night.....Halloween is October 31st.  LOL!  I ahve never heard of towns changing it!

DH and I are going to a friends house tonight to help hand out candy.  We never get people at our house as we live out of town in a semi rural area as well.  We have to stop by another friends house to borrow his costume though - DH decided he wanted to dress up on Friday, so try finding a costume two days before Halloween - NOT FUN.

I think we are also going to go to the Tom Thompson Art Gallery in town, we have never been but we love the Group of Seven stuff, so we might as well go check it out.  It's always closed when we try to go after work, and we are usually out of town on weekends, so it's nice to be able to do it this weekend.

We went to visit DH's parents yesterday on our way home and we got to see the cedar chest that DH's dad built us.  He's built one for all of his kids when they get married, it's a nice tradition he has.  The chest looks amazing!  We were the only ones who had input as to how we wanted it designed, so we told him exactly what we would like and it's turned out perfectly!  We just have to find the right stain for it now......and beat it up a little so it looks "used".

    Well, happy Halloween everyone!

Good luck with the new job Barbara

My automatic self-setting alarm clock reset itself for daylight savings and was throwing me off all morning. Silly clock, your a week early! I don't have any scary plans for tonight or even a costume, I have to work. Oh well, next year might be more exciting.

Me too.  One bag because I feel like it's not Halloween without it, purchased "for DH" (that's what I keep telling myself).  Nope, 3 Almond Joy, 2 Reese's, and 1 Kit Kat, in the stomach last night! Embarrassed

Honor and I are going to Halloween Rally in a little while, and then I'm taking Nikki and Honor to my mom's house for trick or treaters.  Even though I live in a subdivision with lots of kids, they never come to my cul de sac.  Two years ago, we had one trick or treater.  Last year, zero. Sad I love seeing all the costumes, and Nik and Honor LOVE kids, so we're heading to greener Halloween pastures!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the pumpkin seeds I roasted last night.  Salt, lemon pepper, and oregano toasted, yum!

Llama can not jump a fence , they could kill a dog that entered the pen, but can not jump. I don't know about emu's though.

I don't have time to catch up on everything but wanted to share this - DH is taking care of Bugsy while i am in NY, yesterday I missed two phone calls at about B's dinner time.  I picked them up 90 minutes late.  I call DH who says he had bought beef heart for B's dinner as a treat and wasn't sure how much to give him.  I ask how much he did give him, he says "all of it" Tongue Tied  Oh OK how much was that?  1lb 3 oz Surprise  So I instruct him to give him the appropriate amount of calcium tabs and explain that was 'quite a bit more than usual'

Fast forward to this morning.  DH calls, "Bugsy seems under the weather and doesn't want his breakfast" LOL.  "Well since his dinner was so much he doesn't really need breakfast", "oh OK".  Anyway I told him to remove his breakfast and take him for a walk, which he did and after that if he feels better give him 1/2 cup of breakfast.

Oye!  Its a good thing B's stomach is rock solid.  His normal serving is 8 oz plus bone - so it was more than double and heart is so intense. Ah well.

OK off to my nephew's game..................

    happy halloween!

    Congrats on the job!

    Glenda sorry about the shoulder.

We are still at camp and I am freezing my butt off. Yep, winter is nearly here.

My sister starts her new job tomorrow (has to move) but her apt is not ready for her to move in yet so she is going to stay at my house tonight. My house is a wreck and will be even more so when I get home and unload the car! I guess what is most important is to just get the guest room prepared so that will be my first priority.

I didn't buy and candy for tonight. I live in a huge sub with an elementary school in the middle of it. you'd think that I would get hundreds of kids but I am lucky if I get 20 so I'm not going to bother tonight. Don't need to be eating left over candy!

Hope everyone has a happy SAFE Halloween!!

We're probably going to get a ton of kids- the weather is extra nice today. I really love handing out candy and seeing all the little kids dressed up. I cannot stand when teenagers come looking for candy, especially when they're not even dressed up- gimme a break!!

I carved a Lab in my pumpkin, it came out pretty good but looks really good at night when lit...

Dang it. In all the chaos of the last couple days, I've completely missed out on carving pumpkins. Last year I carved them too early and they died before Halloween, so this year I was just going to carve them the day before. But yesterday turned into one of the busiest days of my life.

We put on a Fear Factor event for the city, run almost completely by the kids from the youth center. My niece set it up last weekend for them and they competed themselves. Last night, with our help they set it all up in a donated hall and then proceded to run the entire event. It was so great to see the kids jump in and just do it. These are mostly kids that tend not to have parents around much, and up until a few months ago could be real trouble-makers. I'd say Kale would be the exception, since he goes to Youth for different reasons than most of the other kids since its family that runs it, plus he's younger, but he can be a little jerk at times too. And I was just as proud of him running his event like a pro as I was the rest of the kids. They really really pulled it off. We saw at least a hundred kids come and go, do all the events, get their prizes and have a total blast. Little kids like Kali and Kelci, right on up to 18+ year olds. And afterwards, every YC kid that could, stayed to help with clean up. I could not be any prouder. Big Smile

I am back from my friend's.  Not enough time together, but was still a good visit.  Went to lunch and shopping with his mom while he helped his dad at their house, then he and I went to a 50th b'day party for one of his friends.  Got to meet even more of his friends.  Was nice to do normal couple things, not like previously where I got left out of everything.  I guess I'm not so hideous after all.
