Officially Wednesday - YAY!

Yep, got crowned this morning.  Man, that was not a fun $500 spent.

Dawn, glad you like the Witches' Brew.  I'm not much of a wine drinker myself, but it sounded like fun with the spices in it.

About rechargeable batteries for the cordless Dremel, yes, eventually even the rechargeables don't hold a charge anymore.  I replaced my battery pack this year and had to google Dremel Mini Mite to find the exact one I needed.  I ordered it online.

Yesterday as I was leaving work, I got a phone call from my DS.  He was hysterical and screaming at me that Moose the cat attacked him.  I got home in about 5 minutes to find my son outside, arms covered in blood.  Apparently Moose was fighting with Missy (the other cat), wouldn't leave her alone, so DS picked up Missy to get her away from Moose, and that is when Moose attacked him.  Bit down on the inside of his elbow, so DS tried to jerk away, Moose's teeth tore a 3" gash in his arm and shredded his lower arm/hand with his back claws (has no front ones).  Then attacked DS again, bit his leg, tore through his pajama pants, and scratched up his other wrist.

Moose has always been a bit skittish around my son; the darn cat is attached to me and very protective of Missy.  So here is my son, all 6'1" and 225lbs of him crying like a girl and afraid of 11lb Moose. I'm taking Moose to the vet tomorrow to have bloodwork done and I guess we'll go from there.

My DS is milking it for all it's worth, even though he appears to be healing over nicely today. Confused

Well, Sage has earned herself a crate lock. LOL I already knew that she and Allie are escape artist - they can get just about any pet gate I have open -  but opening the crate is a new one. Poppie has always had a clip on her crate since she showed me at 8 weeks she could flip a latch. I had to crate them while I carried multiple pots of boiling water outside to commit anticide (our recent rain has brought out huge ant mounds in the girls yard). I only closed one latch, well, no longer! I will close both latches and add a clip. They are smart little buggers! And this after Allie came out on the front porch as hubby was leaving for work - she was supposedly in the back yard with the back door shut. *rolls eyes* I'll be totally grey before their done. Good thing I love em!!!!

There was a kitty on our deck this morning, trying to get inside our house. DH and I, who both are not fond of cats, are still thinking about this little kitty. LOL. Sheesh. We cannot have another pet. DH was making our smoothies and heard this loud purrirng and a little meow, so he turned on the light to the deck and there she was. Timmy saw her and barked and frightened her just a little, she ran to the other side of the deck. DH went out to see her and she practically jumped in his arms. She is so friendly. She didn't have any tags, was a bit skinny, but not too bad - she could be someone's kitty, but I do live in farm country, so people could have just dumped her somewhere, there is about a 50/50 chance of either. She was also this cute black, orange and white "moldy" colour.

DH and I have decided that we are getting hardwood. Carpet is just too gross with dogs. I can't handle it any longer. Now we just have to decide between hardwood, engineered hardwood and bamboo. Which would be the most durable re: scratches???

Timmy met a very pretty doberdog on the weekend. We were walking in the park and doberdog spotted Timmy and ran over. His owner was shortly behind him, apologizing for him running over. I have to admit, I was a bit worried, I mean, Tim isn't great with other males, he tends to be pushy, especially when they run up like that and we were on a bridge surrounded by people. It went fairly well though, they sniffed and then his owner took doberdog away. He was cute, a red (is that the right colour/name?) one.

Yikes Tina!  Did your DS go to the doc for antibiotics?  Cat bites and scratches can go south veeery fast.

Glenda, hope you get some relief soon!

Having trouble motivating myself today...should be off editing handouts for the business. Stick out tongue

Yeah, second the antibiotics recommendation! Ouch ouch ouch. Maybe Moose was trying to give him motivation to find his own place soon...? ;)

That happened to me when I was around 9 or 10. I was cat sitting for my neighbor and tried to break up a fight. I didn't get hurt as badly as your son but I still have a scar from the bite on my arm. I haven't ever tried to break up a cat fight since then. I hope your son and Moose are both okay.

I'm swamped as usual but I have a hair appt today and I'm not in the mood to sit there for a couple hours. I wish I could cancel it but it wouldn't be fair to my hair guy. Oh well, I'm sure I'll feel and look better afterwards.

I saw a little dog go trotting by my office window earlier and no human nearby. I ran outside and looked all over but couldn't find it. I hope it's okay.

No he didn't.  He is one of the millions of unemployed and uninsured and can't be added back to my insurance untiil Jaunary 1st.  But...between me and his nurse friend, we are keeping an eye on things.  The area is not swollen, hot, or oozing and we've already cleaned and dressed the bite wound/gash about 4 times.  If it looks worse, I will take him in, even if we don't have enough cash for groceries for a couple of weeks because of it.

Tina, there should be some sort of community based health care available for him.  TC has a nice program and even in FL we found a clinic for $15 for a visit.

Had the day off, so slept in till 10:30. haha. That's not even late for me. ;]

Took both dogs to get their nails clipped and to pick out birthday and gotcha day presents. They're both at the end of this month. Both dogs behaved *fairly* well, hehe.

Just finished some portobello mushroom soup and all is well. Intersting day, eh? I know.

I went and looked at the state's website.  Everything is a minimum 2-hour drive from here, except Lansing, but they will only see Ingham County residents.  I drive a truck, so even if he only had to pay $15 for a doctor's visit, it will end up being at least $60 in gas to get somewhere.  Back to square one.  Bleh.

The United Way should have a help line/referal line that can give you some local leads.  Even if he finds a job, unless it's high paying he should be able to get medical help through some of the organizations.  The state, no, but check local resources.

It's time for more woodlock and I'm really, really dreading it, but I really want to be functional for DH this evening for his b'day.......

Oh, okay.  Didn't think of that (local).

Good news that I wanted to share but forgot earlier:  the two older goldens and their houndy mix "sibling" that came to the shelter a couple of weeks ago because the owner was moving were taken back home by the owner.  Apparently his family was a wreck and cried all weekend, so instead of moving to take the better-paying job, he decided it would be best to stay put so they could keep their whole family intact.  I'm so happy for this good ending!

ZYikes - cat scratches and bites are NOT nice... freakin' hurt!  I think I'd take a dog bite over a really bad cat bite.  My dad got "cat scratch fever" once, man, that was awful.

Had another driving lesson.  Now have a headache.

Re: fridges... when we bought the house, it came with a side-by-side.  I don't know if I would have picked it had I bought it, but we're in love with the ice/water dispenser, and DH will never have one without a water dispenser again.  It should still have a while, but I was always intrigued by the freezer on bottom ones.  I feel like I would end up crawing around on the floor a lot!

Tina, sorry about DS's cat bite.  The head of our animal facility told me once, that mouse and rat bites were always OK for her, but heaven forbid her cat bit her since they seem to always get infected.  Glad you are keeping an eye on things.  Can't be fun.

It's a beautiful, sunny day outside, albeit a bit chilly, but I have class again tonight and won't get to see it :(   On the bright side, our neighbor is stopping over with the baby for a bit, and he's a cutie so that will make up for it a bit.

    Crazy news of the day.......

Earlier this week, DNR in West Virginia, shot and killed a 6 foot alligator near the Upper Mud river Dam.

This over a couple of hills and through the woods from my inlaw's property.
