    Manic Monday Chat

Well, it is Monday now isn't it? At  least on the East Coast. On those pumpkin stencils where you are supposed to only scrape the skin away, how is that done?

I definitely don't need to leave the house in 5 hours at all.

You're basically just thinning the skin from the top surface (the hard shell) so that you expose the thinner (ummm, pith maybe?) on the inside.  So I would draw a line and think of it like shaving off the top hard layer, rather than slicing the knife straight in to cut the hole completely.  Once you get through the hard layer, stop and check to see if your candle allows the light to pass through the pith.  If not, keep thinning the pith (I'd say slowly so you don't pierce it altogether and ruin the look.)

Now go to bed and stop thinking about pumpkins, or you're going to have weird dreams....

I got my papers done...I think i was a page or two short on my term paper tho =(. Yay, last week this term! I absolutely hate having to worry about my grades... it sucks to think a few B's in Math could totally derail my graduate degree :'(. Then I get to just sit at home and relax all weekend before starting up the next term. Planning on taking the boys for some long walks and just resting.

Who stole my weekend????  It can't be over that quick.  Give it back.

    That is all.

     Ah Monday moanin...

Belle ran great at the trial this weekend, I was thrilled. She Q'd in standard, and I was so happy I started to cry. I am such a sap! I am so happy she is back and ready to play. We both know she is a different dog, we still have some things to figure out, but she is LOVING the game again.

Today is the one year mark for Maxine.... I still miss her so.

Yep, Monday.  I wish I was home instead of here.  As my mom used to say "if wishes were horses, beggars would ride".

Tina, hope you had a great weekend!

Gosh, was saddened to read that Paige & Julie both have suicidal friends.  I hope that they can find some help.

I had a very nice weekend.  Saturday we putzed around my friend's house and after the work was done, we watched a couple of chick flicks on cable - that he picked!  I am not really a girly-girl and I don't do chick flicks, so I had to tease him about getting in touch with his feminine side.  I think he turned the 2nd one on to get a rise out of me (which it didn't), but we had quite a laugh.  Sunday we went to a local car show - he sometimes does work for this guy who has an engine shop, so went to help set up the booth and then hung out.  His friends were quite the riot, a lot of the cars were really cool, and the people-watching was entertaining.  The weather was also beautiful the entire weekend, so it's tough to find anything to complain about.

Amanda, you are a brave soul re: the homeless.

Apparently I missed the post about Amanda and the homeless.  Sigh.

OK, pulled a darned muscle in my calf or something, and it hurts like blue blazes.  Dang it.  I need to get out to the RV and finish up in there today and not easy with whatever is going on with the leg.  Methinks the muscles are objecting to the additional walks and the hills, but, too bad.  They can darned well get used to it.

Happy birthday Mr Jackie and happy anniversary to you both

I am on hold, have been for most of the 15 minute conversation - I spoke to someone on Friday about changing my cell plan, wrote down the info and called back to do it today.  This person said the 'new' plan I was quoted was the old plan - sigh - so I read her the document I received from Sprint - and off she went again.  Feels like one of those times I need to hang up and get a smarter person no the other end of the line

Two more days of ultra long days for DH.  I can't wait for this to be over.

Bugsy slept lots yesterday - too much swimming LOL - and his fully charged today

Julie feel better and Neiko work better (or was it more?)

Tina glad you had a great weekend

........still on hold time is awasting

I wasn't going to mention this, but it makes me so angry that I need to vent.

I do not live in MI.  I have not been a registered voter in the state of MI since 2009.  I received, last week, addressed to me AT my PO Box here in MA, NOT forwarded, but addressed to this PO box, a letter on MI Republican Party letter head from the mother of a murder victim, complete with a photo of him, begging me not to vote for a candidate for Attorney General of MI because he had cut a deal with the perp and let him plead to manslaughter.  This happened in Flint, which has been bankrupt for years.  Not only is this missive on their letterhead, the woman also used their 8 cent postage rate and has called my Mom at least twice and told her the sad story twice.  Mom doesn't hang up on people.  I sure would have.

I don't know the candidate, I don't know ANY of the candidates for any of the MI offices, and I don't really care a whole lot about MI politics when I don't live there, other than how family will be impacted by who is elected.  I CAN'T VOTE IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN!!!!  That should be apparent from my MA address.  How dare any political party track me down like I owe them money???  I've never registered as anything other than an Independent in all my voting life since I always vote for the candidate and not the party.

I honestly don't think it's legal for a political party to actively tell voters NOT to vote for anyone.....they of course can sling mud, but I think the line is drawn at trying to intimidate voters by using scare tactics such as were used in the letter, and I think that the phone calls might be even more over the line.

I emailed the candidate in question to tell him what is going on, and only because it ticks me off to see this kind of BS.  Don't know the dude, don't care about the dude one way or another, and don't know if he did right or wrong in the referenced case.  But I do think that the mother and the republican party ought to be slapped for this kind of behavior.

    Sigh.  I hate politics.

Boy I missed something... I knew you were no longer in MI... weren't you in FL for awhile? I thought you were there.. DOH!

I hate voting season and the calls, letters, crap... GIve us a candidate WORTH voting for.

Tina - I'm glad you had a nice weekend and that was thoughtful of you to sit and watch a couple of chick-flicks with your friend Wink

Jackie - I hope that Charles has a great birthday!!

I'm off today for Columbus Day. DH got up early to get to the gym and I never even heard him leave. He's rarely the quietest guy, so I'm surprised I didn't hear anything. I sure have enjoyed these days off and sleeping in a bit.

Does anyone know if you can get a 2nd bloom out of Mums? I cut all the dead flowers off yesterday and was just wondering if they might bloom again.

I really wish I could call out sick today, because, I'm well getting sick. I was fine yesterday, but today I have a slight cough, sore throat, headache and I feel like I'm moving through mud. I might see what I can do about making it a short day, but I'm covering for someone who is out today (planned vacation day). Meh. To top it off, the significant other left to help out another store in a different state and won't be back until Thursday night Sad.

    Wow, I'm whiny today lol!

I get mail & calls from the democrat party because I voted in the primary against the change we can't afford.  Now, I have lots of fun with the phone calls.

Two of my friends tried out for American Idol over the weekend.  One of them made it in to audition for the actual judges.  I have heard her sing on numerous occassions, & I am confident that she will be on the outtakes when the season begins.

Cathy, my mums bloom in the fall & again in the spring.

LOL  Charles is the chick flick fan at our house.  Maybe he and your friend can hang out and watch some flicks while we knock back a few brews and discuss football. lol  Nah, I don't care that much about football.  We could watch "this old house" and discuss home repairs while they sniffle and giggle. :)
