We finally have a partly sunny day! It's been raining a ton recently, but not as bad as other places, just enough to make my yard (and the dogs' feet) muddy.
Last night was Kes' first competition obedience class. Apparently the universe thought I needed a bit of humbling - he was the most unruly dog in class *and* they started early so it caused more of a disruption because we had no time for him to adjust to a new class environment before the instructor began speaking. Sooo embarrassing and the assistant was treating me like an idiot about it which just made me more flustered, ugh. At least the instructor is nice and very open to discussing different ways of training things. She uses marker words but also some collar correction, so I did opt out of one exercise (teaching a "motivational collar pop";) and she had no issue with that!
We have a ton of homework to work on this week: "ready" (sit at heel with attention), fronts, stand, and of course improving Kes' ability to chill while I pay attention to the instructor.
My FIL is coming to visit this weekend and I just realized that means that I need to do some heavy duty clean up around the house and figure out how to set up our "library" space for a guest since it's currently our foster's room and a catch all for our boxes of books and sundry other things without a home. Good thing he won't be here until 6pm on Saturday!
