Yikes Steph! Good vibes for you bro.

http://www.bclocalnews.com/news/103797399.htm Here's a little tidbit on the flood.

Fourteen years old is like JV High School Football level in my school days - certainly not Youth Football.

Thats what I was thinking too when I heard he was 2 years older. Come to find out he could've played JV football OR youth football because his bday made the cut off for either (mid-late August), and he made the weigh in (I'm going to try to get the official weight of that kid because he was BIG). And the parents chose youth because he would be starting and have more playing time. The coaches didn't even sit that kid for the next play!!!

When do you find out about the x-rays - ie, confirming the status of bones, etc.  I'm anxious for you.  LORDY!!!  That poor kid!  Jimminy crickets, how is your mom holding up???  Of course you all have extra prayers/good healing energy from me!!  Consider that hug earlier just the start.

Still waiting. Neither of my parents are answering their cell- urgh!

Earlier she was a complete mess...which probably didn't help any. She rode with my brother in the ambulance, but really lost it when the cut off his gear (because they didn't want to move him/his neck). Once everything calmed down she seemed OK though.

That age group of kids is scary because of the size differences in a 12 year old & a 14 year old.  DS1 is 12 but plays on a 14-16 year old baseball team.  DS is a big 12 yr old, but it's still quite scary when you see him standing out there with kids who are almost twice his size.

Once everything has calmed down, you need to have you parents look into league rules on illegal hits.  Here, if a kid takes a cheap shot, they are ejected from the game, & suspended for 2 games.  Youth leagues are in place to teach kids how to play the right way.  Taking a cheap shot is not the right way to play.

i hope that the xrays turn out ok and there is nothing serious wrong!

WHAT the ffffrench toast!?!  That would not have flown around here - he'd have been pulled immediately.  That's just nuts.  Youth Football is supposed to be the safety net - the arena where coaches are watching out for kids and teaching them how to play SAFELY.  That sort of action (deliberate or "accident";) would have had immediate consequences for the offending player.  The coaches should be under review for not pulling him.  (I'm guessing this is all volunteer/parent coaching, maybe, but there's a liability and HUMONGOUS responsibility they take on as such, and this was a failure on their part to let him keep playing in the next play.  I mean, really, common sense here.)

I suspect your parents are not answering their phones because a lot are blocked inside hospitals.  Are you able to call the nurse's station on the floor where he's on to ask for his status, or to connect to his room (assuming your parents would answer the phone there).

UUhhmm... that rumbly noise down here I felt earlier that sounded/felt kinda like an overly-long washing machine spin-cycle with an uneven load?

Yeah, that was an EARTH QUAKE!!!  In New Hampshire!! lol  http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/US10/37.47.-75.-65.php

Everyone ok this morning?  Steph, I hope your little brother suffers no long term damage.  Scary hardly covers what you must have felt seeing him hurt like that.  Is it a secret which idogger you got to meet yesterday?  I think I know who it is and I'm jealous as anything. :)

Candace, I'm glad everyone got out safely in your village.  Paige, earthquake in NH, that's pretty strange.

We went to the Gardens by Moonlight but just as we arrived and were trying to find a place to park, it started raining again. :(    We left and stopped to grab a bite to eat and headed home.   The botanical garden holds this event several times a year, so we'll try again.

Charles is playing golf this morning and needs to leave in about an hour.  He really should get out of bed if he doesn't want to miss his tee time.  I've tried waking him three times.  I think I'll put Gabby in bed with him.  That should do the trick. lol

Have a good day everyone and stay safe!

He has a cervical strain. Nothings broken or fractured- thank God! Last night was the scariest night of my entire life....after he went down he didn't get up, and my brother's been playing football for a few years now and he's never not gotten up after a hit.

I looked at my brothers fb page this morning....it's covered with "get well" wishes from all the kids and some parents that were there. He was in so many peoples thoughts. We even had a family come to my parents house this morning to see if Joey was OK and if we needed anything! This is when it's nice living in a small town- the community and support. (just like on here)

They are all a bunch of cuties - two and four-legged alike. lol  HAD to give hugs to Stephanie! Her DH only got a hand-shake, though... but he did get to see that the "dog people she talks to online" are real, live normal humans - not online stalkers and losers with no life! lol
