THE WEEKEND CHAT.

I just finished shopping for gifts for bridal showers.  I have to attend two showers next weekend, & one the following.  I hate having to go to bridal or baby showers.

DH came in at 11 last night.  I had just gone to sleep & had made the mistake of closing the bedroom door.  When DH tried to walk in the bedroom, he was "put back out" by the dogs.  I had to get up & tell the to knock it off so that DH could get in.  I find it funny that either of the boys can walk in without issue, but if DH tries, then Bev & Boo threaten his life.

It's been a rainy weekend but I got some gardening done between showers. I'm feeling very lazy right now and might take a nap on the couch till dinner.  Someone please wake me when it's time to eat. lol

    • Gold Top Dog

Gee Amanda, maybe the boyz were reading your attitude towards old Rowdy??

Jackie, a nap sounds perfect.  Could you teach me how to do that?

    • Gold Top Dog

Glenda, you might find a basket muzzle at a feed store, if there is one in your area. That's where I found the one we keep on hand.

I hope your son's attitude improves in the new home. I've never understood adult children being so demanding in their parents' homes when they're living with them as adults.I know sometimes things happen to where they need a place to stay. But, if I were in such a situation, I'd be extremely grateful for a place to stay at all..I can't imaging even contemplating causing drama, complaining and muzzling their dogs! But then I'd likely take a job at even something petty just to be contributing something..  It just seems ballsy...

I work this weekend and am on call. I have thus far had only one call, which was last night when I didn't have a doctor available (another clinic was covering our emergencies). So, no emergency bonus for me :(   I'm not on call again until at least November, and I don't know if the schedule will rotate around enough again for me to be on call after that before the kiddo comes, so I was hoping for some extra cash. Alas, twas not to be.

I have, however, continued the trend of there being a bird of prey at work every time I am on call. I hate birds of prey. They're lovely from afar, but they're messy and crotchety when you have to handle them.  This one likes to do the awful feeding screech sound when we feed it or if he's especially crabby.  I have to catch this darned thing twice a day...we have a mutual dislike of each other, I think.  I will say that his trying to figure out how to hold a mouse in each foot is kind of amusing

    ETA..frozen/thawed mice....just to clarify :)

Nope, that's their normal response.  If the door is left open, then he can walk on in without issue.  If I close the door, then it's "enter at your own risk."

I am being a bum this afternoon.  I have no motivation to do anything.

sorry in advance - this is one handed.  my alt guy gave me a new soak to use for the psoriasis -- NO JOKE -- IT'S MOUNTAIN DEW!!!

I have been usuing it for 10 days on feet and i hate to say ***it wortks***

the itching is vastly relieved (why why WHY does this work???) and some healing & *real* skin is happening but trust me, this is a stretch EVEN FOR ME !!!    why !POP???? WT HECK???

trying to soak each hand for an hour???? ugh -- so i have my hand in a baggie but i don't trust it not to leak on the keyboard LOL

sooooo top that silliness anybuddy!  sheesh

ya know, I'm not much of a pop person anyway, but our move from MA to CA totally turned me against Mountain Dew.....the truckers tended to use those bottles for potty needs.  Scary to think of a big rig barreling through the mountains while the driver relieves himself in a pop bottle!  Glad to hear it has SOME good use!

I'm either getting more scattered than normal or the cutlery has something against me.  A serated knife jumped off the counter and tried to cut my foot off!  Yikes!  Not deep, but the darned knife was certainly trying to maim me!  I think it needs a time out.

Umm... so glad I'm not a Mountain Dew Drinker, no offense Callie.

Someone drove up to the house and dropped off a cell phone.  This road cuts across a town line and the numbers go the other way in the other town.  Turns out the lost phone was dropped off in the wrong town, so I drove up the road to deliver it.... and found they have a Doberman!!  Don't see too many around here.

Back to watching football.... and pacifying my own Dobe who is being a bit of a PITA tonight... very very needy!

I'm glad Mtn Dew has ONE real use!

Amanda, hope you enjoy the Tuscon -- DH and I have our sights set on a Santa Fe, but SIL has a tuscon and loves it.  We would want the extra foot of space in the back, I think, and when were there last month it was only about $2k more for the SF.  Maybe next year my dreams will come true in regards to a new car.

Sarah, that's great news about the house appraisal!  I'm so close to getting rid of PMI that I almost want to get it appraised and try to see if we could get rid of it that way, but we pay the lowest tier since we were so close to the required 20% that the cost of appraisal equals about 8 months of PMI, and in about 10-12 months I'll have paid enough to be done with it.  So I'm just twiddling my thumbs and trying to restrain from paying a lump sum just to get rid of it now.... What I really, really want is to get rid of the escrow.  the mortgage co keeps screwing up my taxes so as soon as I can, I'm getting rid of the escrow.

I have homework due tomorrow so I suppose I need to get to it.  But maybe I should eat the leftover cheesecake factory cheesecake first :)

Mt. Dew has more caffeine than ANY other pop/soda.  It's actually GREASY (believe it or not).

I can't tell you ... *laughing but serious at the same time* how COMPLETELY offended I am that this stuff works.  I don't drink Pepsi products hardly at all -- but ewww, the stuff is SO gross (pardon anyone who does drink it) -- but I've soaked in dead sea salts, and all manner of weird stuff ... but POP??

Bro--ther ... I did it ONLY because this guy I respect said to.  But then the danged stuff actually helps??  It's more than my holistic little heart can deal with .. ya know??

Then MY comment is ... if it does weird junk to psoriasis .... people DRINK THIS????ewwwwww

I had quite the emotional day.  Cat related for the most part.  Rick pulled me aside and told me he was having second thoughts about sending Rocky off to live with our daughter.  He told me that he is having a very difficult time with the thought of rehoming him.  That's all it took for me.  Done deal, Rock stays.

Aside from that, another kitten rescue today which I'm writing more about in that "Kitten Rescue" thread.  This rescue strangely ties me back to the kitten I rescued last Thursday.

Callie, similarly, there is this remedy for kidney stone with coca cola (like drinking an enormous amount) along with something else, I've forgotten what else.  The remedy breaks up the stone so that it passes.  Yep..soda cracks the stone.

I really liked the Santa Fe's.  I was looking for a smaller SUV/crossover/whatever you want to call it.  Our parking garage was just redone, & in an attempt to increase parking, the spaces were dowsized some.  It has become increasingly difficult to park the jeep or trailblazer in the garage.

Little Bro dated a girl who's parents bought her a Tuscon. She referred to it as a "Tuck-son" and she was serious. Luckily she didn't last, but I DID enjoy messing with her.

Pirate is on a hunger strike. My THK order isn't coming until Wednesday and he won't eat kibble that we you know, actually HAVE, even with toppers. I guess I'll get him canned food tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I'm meeting a lady tomorrow who wants me to be a nanny for her boys on the weekends. Vibes please?

    • Gold Top Dog

It's been a nice three day weekend I'm just sad to see it come to a end. Been cleaning house, letting the dogs outside to burn energy off, and soon I'm going to try my hand at making chocolate chip Cinnamon Sweet rolls.

    I'm just aggravated with myself.

    • Gold Top Dog

LOL @ "Tuck-son" although I mis-speak many things so I shouldn't laugh too hard!  Thankfully I don't drive much so as long as DH is comfortable getting into and out of spots, it doesn't bother me in the least.

If we got a Sante Fe, I would just drive our Elantra if I had to drive myself.  I'm the one who was turning around, and decided that running over a "bush" so I didn't have to do a 97-point turn was OK.  Except the "bush" had a pole in the middle of it.  Yeah, just my luck.

Good vibes, Meg. After working on my homework for a couple of hours now, I think I might just want a nanny job, too.  Must be easier than this crap.  And to think, this is a stupid elective I picked out, since online it sounded OK.  Three attempts to get a syllabus or more information on the course were not fruitful, and now I find out that instead of biological chemistry, it's physical chemistry and on crack.  My luck, once again.

I just finished cheesecake and even that wasn't enough to make the problems figure themselves out. Bummer.

Pi man, you gotta eat something!  Ask momma for cookies to hold you over, or maybe a nice steak dinner.
