THE WEEKEND CHAT.

    And, FEEL BETTER PAIGE!

I'm amazed that I make anyone feel like a slug!  As much sitting around doing nothing as I've been doing  since May.......

Don't know if I mentioned this or not, but when we were roaming around the yard at the new house there were some awesome tomatoes and pie pumpkins growing in the compost heap.  I'm sincerely hoping that the pumpkins don't go back with the homeowners......if they stay I have some serious plans for those pumpkins!  Including bread, muffins, pies....and, oh yeah, some for the freezer!

I am absolutely going to drive myself crazy between now and Monday.......

Dawn glad that you got some decent news about your dad - continued thoughts and prayers

Mom called today and said that my aunt can't move at all now and doesn't know who anyone is, my poor uncle is finally allowing others to help and my mom said he is just a mess.  My heart just breaks for him.

Jackie I wish I could go to that plant sale but then again our current situation might make getting a cactus to take difficult.  What an odd year weather-wise.

My sister called to tell me my extraordinary niece took 2nd place out of 200 girls at a regional x-country meet.  She's teeny but good golly she can run Big Smile

Had some errands and stopped at a grand opening of a petco. Nice store but their prices are even higher than petsmart.  I did get lots of samples though - I love to use kibble for training treats!

Paige I know your sinuses are in an adjustment but if you aren't yet using a saline rinse daily I recommend it.  I haven't had an infection since I started

Grab I tripped a while back (last year sometime) and my shoulder and wrist were sore for a week from stopping my fall.

on a positive note, in case you hadn't noticed I love my silly mutt Stick out tongue He absolutely brings me so much joy

Karen, so sorry about your aunt. Still sending you guys lots of good thoughts.

    Paige, feel better!

Glenda, I'm so excited for you. When you can, post pictures of your new place! Once you're all settled! And I have a GREAT country store type place to send you when apple season starts to peak. Best cider donuts EVER.

I'm running around today trying to get my apartment presentable for THE PARTY. The big problem is I'm still not fully unpacked! Fortunately I have a basement to hide things in... heheheh... I'm ordering pizza, making salad, and making guacamole for appetizers. I also bought beer (even though I don't drink) and 3 different kinds of soda. I also offered to drive and pick up the people living in campus housing (about a 30 min walk from my place). Ready to rock and roll! THEY BETTER HAVE FUN OR ELSE! :-p

Oh, no... I was just out in the paddock talking to my friend about aging family members and how we all go through the cycles of care, but cannot even anticipate these will happen to us and our families.  I feel sad for your uncle.  I hope he can find some joy and comfort in the days ahead.

Congrats to your niece, too!  200 girls at regionals is pretty darned big!

I do have saline and hadn't thought to use it.  I don't seem to have an infection, everything is crystal clear.  But I'll give it a whirl nonetheless.

Meanwhile, just tried almond milk.  It's NOT like soy milk, but I like it!  I agree that it could be excellent in coffee.

I'm missing the Highland Games today, because nobody is available to go.  Ptuey!

Karen, I'm so sorry about your Aunt.  I had hoped her passing would be swifter and more merciful for everyone.  Thot's and prayers coming to the whole family.

Remember when I mentioned that the boxer youngster who belongs to the campground owner had knocked Shadow for a loop one night when SHE was running free?  Darned if she didn't get ME today.  She is always, always excited as heck to see me but she usually doesn't jump on me like she's trying to use me as the wall in her obstacle course!  Got me right in the ribs and left some good scratches right through my shirt.  Yeeeouch!

The reason Sis is swelling so much, they say, is because her arms have NO body fat on them and the cast puts pressure on the veins.  They  cut the inside of the cast, and secured it with something for now and will let the swelling go down and put a new cast on Monday.  by golly, there are some MAJOR benefits to having a little meat on our bones!!

I've got the second load of laundry in and packed up two boxes of "can do without" bathroom stuff to go over to the house.  Will go out in a few minutes and back the car into the site and put the seats down so I can load some stuff.  Once the dog crates come down tonight, will pull the boxes of photos, photo albums, etc, out from under the bed and load those directly into the car.  Hadn't taken them out yet because I didn't want to put them in the tent where they might get damped from the moisture in the air, nor did I want Todd driving all over with that stuff in the car. They don't absolutely NEED to go right away, but anything going to the first floor IS going so I can unload at the front door without a bunch of dogs getting in the way.  Once the RV is parked over there, it ain't moving and I want to park it before we take the dogs and cats out.

I hope I'm not driving you guys as nuts as I'm driving me......

Oh, and, yeah, bring on that apple farm info!!

It's eerily quiet tonight. What's up with that?

    Good thoughts for Dawn's dad.

    Lisa, do not overdo it!

Jackie, would you like me to mail you some donuts? I can probably ship some to you quicker than Schwanns can deliver them...

I hope that Pirate's sting is feeling ok.

Karen, we are sending thoughts to your & your family.

Courtney, I hope that you have a great party!

I'm exhausted. Today, we went to see my mother for her b-day. I was planning on mailing her a card, but DH pressured me to make an appearance. It was the usual arguing, bickering, & insulting visit that I always have with her. Somebody remind me to smack DH with the 2x4 when I have more energy.

The high point of the day was this afternoon when I bought a new car. I've been researching, & casually shopping around for the past month, & today I pulled the trigger. I bought a 2011 Hyundai Tuscon Limited. It's a little smaller than my trailblazer was, but I am absolutely in LOVE with it! I got a great deal on it, & there was no long, drawn out, haggling session. (I spent almost 8 hours negotiating the deal on the car.) I told the sales guy what I wanted, & what I was expecting to pay for it, & he smiled & told me that he could make that happen. I am wondering if I could have gotten an even better deal, but, all in all, I'm happy with what I got.

DH went out with his DWI friend tonight on our "cooking" anniversary.  I am a bit perturbed with him, but I'll get even when the time is right...

I've been posting from my phone, so good thoughts where needed. I am on a train almost getting off. I can't wait. I feel so crappy right now. I'm thinking it's because I get freaked on trains, and hoping it's not because I really have something going on.

I have been reading but haven't had a lot of time to post with the end of tax season upon me and the September 15th deadline just passing.  Just one more to go, and I will be free for a few months!  Good thoughts to those who need them though.  I love my idog family and even when I am not posting, I am reading and participating without responding in the thread (good thoughts, celebrating, cooking, you know, all of the above)

I had a fabulous day with Devin today.  We went to the Little Gym this morning and had lots of fun then ran to get gas and by a pet store where my old music store boss and a bunch of other people from the music store now work.  I don't usually shop there but I decided to take Devin there to meet him.  Then after her nap, we went and ran some errands and then I took her to a few more stores that were large and just let her walk through and look and I checked out a few things in each place too.  She was happy as could be being free to roam and check things out on her own account.  And tonight while hubby watched Auburn she drew and we played and we colored some more.  It was just a really nice day with my little love.

I am super excited!  Our house appraised for WAY more than we needed it to in order to refinance, and for WAY more than we needed it to in order to avoid PMI as well.  I really thought it would be close, but we have a very good cushion.  I am super excited to not be in a PMI situation because now I can change my plans with all of the escrow refunds etc and we can do some major work in our backyard a little sooner than we had planned.  I don't know that if we were to sell, that I would list it for that much, but it is nice to know that there is definite potential for a nice profit if we were to sell, although, I think we have decided to try to stay here for as long as we can.  Oh, and we are saving another $100 a month now too.  I think it is up to $300 a month in savings but since I pay additional principal each month, it is more than that if/when we need some extra money.  In the meantime, I am going to keep paying the same amount and pay our principal down some and try to pay our house off in half the time if we stay here that long.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!  And good thoughts for those who need them!

Dawn, good vibes coming for your dad.

Glenda, I can't imagine someone moving out of a house and coming back later to raid the garden, so I'm guessing the 'maters and pumpkins will be there waiting for you.  I'm so excited for you!  You'd better be ready to post some pictures.

I went on a dog food run Friday, but forgot to take the bag out of the car.  This morning I went to feed Max and the bag was empty and I was thinking "Am I going nuts?  I could have sworn I  bought dog food yesterday."  I'm so glad I remembered that I left it in the trunk before I dashed off to Dixon to buy another one.

I got absolutely nothing done today since I started a book I'm having trouble putting down - The Other Boleyn Girl by Philipa Gregory.  I'm about half way through it now, so just 333 more pages and I can vacuum and unload the dishwasher. Smile

OMG my right shoulder is killing me!!!! I guess it's from the gas they pumped into my stomach from the surgery. From what my sister says is that it gets trapped in your diaphram and your brain referred it to you shoulder. All I know is that it feels like someone is sawing my arm off. I am patiently waiting until I can take another pain pill. Looks like I am going to have to sleep sitting up again. How weird is it that the part they actually operated on doesn't hurt but something completely different kills!

Oh Lisa, I know exactly how you feel! I had the same pain in my right shoulder after the c-section. It's AWFUL. I did get a PT to come and give me a massage though. It helped for a little while.

That's great about your niece, Karen. I remember you bragging about her last year. Big Smile

Paige, I tried some almond milk and didn't really like it. It tasted too much like almonds. I usually drink Silk soy milk.
