Finally Friday Chatter

I read something about a manual treadmill? If only that came with some sort of ab workout, I could lose my gym membership for good!

Get an exercise ball!!!! Fantastic for ab workouts (all different kinds too). I think I got mine for $20. I cannot do most ab workouts flat on the ground because it causes terrible lower back pain. The exercise ball works great for me. It can also double as a workout bench for a number of exercises, if you have dumbbells at home. I can't wait for my treadmill to arrive and then I'll let anyone here know how it was in case anyone else is thinking of getting one. From what I've read of manual treadmills, not great for running or jogging it seems - just walking.

    {{{{Jackie}}} Smile darlin it's Friday!

Lisa, hope surgery goes well today, you will be feelin better soon!

Glenda, I am sorry about the shingles, Mom gets those often she said it is miserable!

uh--hummmm how many days now did you say?  Wink

I survived my first Zumba class last night and signed up for 6 more, lol!  May not be able to move tomorrow but....today I am good.  Then I went home and gave Rocky a bath, changed his bedding.   This boy is scatching like crazy and I cant figure it out.  Bless his heart..no bugs..no rashes...????  Anyway I gave him some benadryl and a bath.   It was waaayyyy past my bedtime by the time my head hit the pillow.  I woke up feeling pretty good today!

Lauren, I am so glad things are lining out for your special day!   Dont get nervous, just enjoy the moment.

mmmm cant remember anything else, lol

    Have a great day all!

NI Callie...but my Mom was in by 8am and out by about 5pm to go home. It's considered outpatient surgery here.

Slightly LESS than 4 days now, but still four long nights.  BUT, Monday I'll be back and forth between here and the house, so that day doesn't really count for me so much.

I'm fortunate that I get one "patch" varying from the size of a nickle to that of a silver dollar.  Normally I do get specific warning signs, that I just flat didn't get this time.  Once I get the outbreak, I pretty much feel fine....it's the days leading up to it, and this time it was achey and tired, which is unusual for me.  The "patch" is smallish this time, I just have to deal with the feeling of it being on fire from inside the skin, and I can handle it.  Had I gotten my usual warning signs I would have started meds, but, once it pops out, really too late to do much but deal with it.

I *think* my body has been battling this for awhile tho.  I've had times when I really thot it was coming and it didn't.  It's been more difficult living in the tin can in a campground because there are so many other people around and I really work to keep the dogs always absolutely quiet.  But, that's ok.  We're almost at the end of the tunnel and I'm a tough old broad.

Am really anxious to hear that Lisa is doing fine.

Sis is having to go in for her FOURTH cast today.  She obviously got one when she broke her elbow, then had to have that replaced because of the swelling, got another one on Tuesday after the surgery, and the swelling is so bad that she's going today to get the latest one replaced.  This worries me.  it doesn't seem like she should still be doing so darned much swelling.  Keep a good thot if you would please.

Aunt Flo + asthma + sinus pain = Ick!

DH is really driving me nuts lately - I'm really trying to be understanding and tolerant but it isn't working.  I'm getting really angry, breathe.  When he is stressed he is flat out unpleasant, that is all I can say about that.

Lisa's surgery should be an outpatient thing - so long gallbladder

Jackie I need to find out why you are garnering all these hugs - here's another one {{{{{hugs}}}}} in the mean time

Gina I have a constant store of kidney stones and will say that most of the time if they are small there isn't much they can do - lithotripsy doesn't work well on small stones because it is hard to zone in right on them.  The most important thing with small stones is to stay well-hydrated, stones don't tend to move when you are hydrated.

OK off to tackle a long list of things to do today

Big Smile  That's me, smiling!  lol

Gina, glad to hear your DH's doc ruled out any scary stuff.  Hopefully, this weekend he can relax and enjoy the festivities at Grapefest.

Glenda, sorry you've got shingles.  I had one outbreak and that was enough for me.

Gin, I'm glad you enjoyed your Zumba class. :)

Alright, I missed something - who has shingles?  Jackie?  Is that why we're giving her ((hugs))?  Whatever you need, Jackie - ((hugs)) and very gentle air hugs to whomever has shingles if it's not Jackie.

Ginger, I was going to ask about your Zumba class!!!  So awesome for you!  I hear it is a lot of work, but a tremendous amount of fun.  I have yet to hear anyone say, "Yeah, that Zumba class was so boring, I don't think I'm going back."  Making exercise something you WANT to do, rather than HAVE to do, seems like most of the battle.

Bailey, you poor baby.  Upset tummies are just no good.  Hope the fasting and resting combined with extra lovins from your owners makes you feel better quickly.  I know it's normal, but I do so hate to see any dog sick because of human influence.  Extra gentle tummy rubs from Auntie Paige.

Lisa - hope surgery went smoothly and Mr. Gallbladder enjoys his trip to the incinerator.  (Or whatever the heck they do with it.)

    From yesterday:

    Cita

I want to invite my fellow first year students over to my apartment to hang out and play videogames this weekend. But I'm really nervous - what if they don't want to come?? What if they hate videogames and think I'm a giant doofus? Any ideas? I don't really know what the party-throwing protocol is!

I really wouldn't know if that's cool or lame, since I don't play video games, BUT!  I would say that almost every home party sinks or swims based on food.  I've been to parties where the food was still frozen (a la Costco hors d'oevres in bulk) or made no sense (Chinese fried rice with nachos and apple pie), or just plain ran out.  How likely is it that your fellow Grad students are cooking good meals for themselves?  If you could do a casserole of something like a comfort food (awesome mac and cheese recipes down in the Around the Campfire section here in the forum... *hint*) and offer that, I bet you would win them over fast!

I helped with the competition prep/individual needs class last night.  So many people showed up, it ended up being 3+ hours long!  Ack! These people do not realize what a tremendous bargain they're getting.

Jackie - I must've missed something but here's a (((HUG))) from me too.

Glenda - I hope the swelling your sister is dealing with is nothing abnormal and this is the last cast she has to get.

Thinking good thoughts for Lisa this morning. Hope the surgery and recovery go smoothly and she's just able to enjoy some down time.

I slept like a rock last night too. I feel like I could've used another hour or two but am grateful for what I got. Sassy did wake me up at 4:30 to go out. She was sitting about 6 inches from DH's head whimpering but I think he was more tired than I was. He's really relieved that the CHP signed off on his bike and now he just has to get the DMV to do the same.

I still have a lot to do to prepare for the meetings next week, so I'd better get to gettin. Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Meg - Reminder to pick up Pi's medicine!  Smile

Thanks, Cathy.  I'm worried about her.

It's me with shingles.  Again.  But, at least it explains the achiness and cruddy feeling of the last few days.

My Dad was in overnight for HIS gallbladder surgery but he was very 'senior' then so I was hoping it was gonna be easier for Lisa.  Feel better Lisa!!! (Dad's surgery helped him SO much!! bye bye pain!!)

Glenda - -shingles are NO fun -- in THIS case cyber hugs are the only ones you want!!

I forgot to say Mindy -- you're a wonderfu dog mom for sitting up with Baily -- Baily, feel better sweetie!! (someone send Mindy the 2X4 for "grandpa";)

The air in the office seems not to be working today UGH.

    • Gold Top Dog

My first thoughts were, how are the fish cared for? Is their living environment satisfactory? I don't get pedicures and never will. I don't let anyone but me touch my feet.
