Dog on the run *Home*

I just saw this...how terrifying! I am sending all the positive vibes I can.

Might just be where they bought the phone - cell numbers are based on where you bought it not necessary where you live.

Glad you are making progress, we are sending major thoughts!!!!!  Keep us posted

If it's true I guess it would explain why we've been searching and calling for days and not a single person has reported seeing her.... I'll feel like an ass if it's not her but the timeline makes sense, would've meant she got picked up almost immediately.

I just remember I think I can Bluetooth something off my phone to my work computer, I'll try to get it off...

I hope this is Kenya.  The fact that they contacted you should indicate that they will return her to you. If they were going to keep her, why contact you?

Extortion...people do it all the time. Many times they do not even HAVE the dog....just the flyer...esp if there is a picture on it. I never put pics on my flyers for that reason. Beagles "all look alike" but I know my dogs and they'd better be able to tell me something real specific if they want me to even talk with them.

Lies I've been watching this thread and wish you well with this. I hope you have Kenya back very soon.

WHAT is wrong with people???  I just can't believe that someone would just keep a random dog.  I just hope you get her back soon.  You must be sick worrying over this.

The thought of my dog lost had me worried sick but the thought of someone else having my dog has me in tears... poor Kenya, she's better off out on her own waiting for me to find her than stuck with some stranger...

I would feel the same way.

You're in my thoughts, I hope you get Kenya back ASAP.

If you go onto CraigsList you will find many a diatribe by people who proudly state they KEEP animals they find and "rehome" them because "if your dog/cat ran away it obviously wasnt happy with you" or "if your dog gets away thats proof you are irresponsible and you should not have a pet anyways". I am serious. People are acting like the Deityofyourchoice's own jury out there...in many ways.

Yep.  But it's not always a case of extortion.  A friend's Lab escaped from his outdoor kennel during a storm.  He posted fliers everywhere but no response.  After three weeks he put up new fliers offering a reward.  He got a call the next day.  Someone had found his dog and it was so well trained, they thought they would just keep him!  The dog was chipped and had a collar with ID.  With Kenya's fear of strangers, they may have decided she wasn't the dog they wanted after all.   I just hope this is her.

So true!  When we found a dog I never got a call from the owner and eventually surrendered him to the humane society, but I got DOZENS of calls from people who wanted to come adopt him.  We only had him for ONE night!  These people didn't seem to care that the dog was wearing a collar and obviously BELONGED to someone.

I can't get Kenya out of my mind.  Mama is coming sweet girl.

Leis, you will get your girl back...I just feel it.

    Continued good thoughts and prayers.

I just found about this. Sending lots of "stay safe" and "find each other soon" vibes to you!!

I can't stop thinking about Kenya. If she really is with those people, she must be so terrified. WHY would they call you and send a pic, and then not answer when you called back?

I really hope that these people give her up to you without a fight.

    • Gold Top Dog

Maybe...they did have her but she got away and now they are embarrassed or whathaveyou? Some dogs, esp frightened ones, can be VERY hard to contain! I know I have tried to keep a loose dog in the yard only long enough for dh to come home and take it to a shelter and GONE...that's very frustrating.

BUT...I am sure Kenya will be home very soon...with or without these people being involved...because she just must. Period.

I am obsessively checking this thread. Please let me know if we can do ANYTHING to help.

Yep, I have to agree. I can't imagine a scenario where they'd send an email and then not answer but I hope it either doesn't matter or all makes sense soon and Kenya is back where she belongs soon.
