Lies...sending my support virtually!  If only I could help really...I would!  I third the idea of having Coke or Nikon help...

Oh my!  You'll get her back...I just know it!

    • Gold Top Dog

Tootsie would do the same as Kenya. Go home, baby girl.

    Oh Liesje, I'm so sorry!

She's very attached to her crate, right? Maybe it would help if you left her crate in that couples' yard, to kind of help her get her bearings? The idea of leaving clothes with your scent in the area seems like it might also help her stay put...

Sending you tons and tons of good thoughts. I wish I could help you in a more physical/helpful way!

Aw no, Kenya stay safe baby. :( Lots of people are looking for you! Praying you guys find her soon!

    • Gold Top Dog

Yes, yes, yes to what Courtney says^^

I was going to suggest a live trap, but thats an even better idea.

You guys will be on the forefront of my mind...  (((Lies)))

I've had to catch quite a few lost dogs in the last few years and they all following the same pattern of bolting and then picking an area to circle in, searching, in a pattern, never straying far from a few mile loop.

That's exactly what a training friend of mine said.  Also said to go out to the area where she's been sighted and just sit there, in that area, with your scent in one spot with treats and wait there for a couple of hours.  (May sound lame, but this is your dog we're talking about.)  Having Coke and/or Nikon with you to add to your scent would help.

Too bad your training friends can't put you in contact with the SAR trackers, or someone else with a strong tracking history that could take on an older scent and deal with a situation like this.

This is what we've done so far:  As soon as she bolted the family and many neighbors canvassed their neighborhood.  Then they called me.  In hindsight, they should have let her be and called me first.  I think they just chased her away (in her mind).  They called the police to alert them, and the animal control.  By the time DH and I got there it was almost midnight, so we canvassed by ourselves with just me calling her like I normally would, but nothing.  This morning the other family contacted all the animal shelters and animal control.  They canvassed again, and then drove to the animal shelters to check the dogs that are there and fill out paperwork on Kenya so they know what to look for if new animals come in.  She has the microchip and ID, but this way if she slips her collar or they can't read the chip, they will still know she belongs to us and contact us.  I went there this morning with Nikon and canvassed on foot, then drove a wider area.  The wife made posters and she went around to any local businesses to alert them and hang posters.  I went home for a while b/c I'm sick with the flu and kind of over-exerted myself this morning, but when I felt better I took Nikon back, canvassed a different area on foot, and a wider area in the van.  The husband is a police officer so he's notified the area police and all his buddies to keep a watch.  All the neighbors and much of the neighborhood already knows she's missing.  This afternoon I received one call from a woman who saw her last night looking very spooked on a VERY busy street but just a block from where she was lost.  I feel like we've all been very thorough in the immediate area, checking backyards, under bushes, behind fences, I really don't think she's anywhere within several blocks of her original spot, unfortunately.  When she's been separated from me, even just for a few hours at home, she will bark and whine excitedly, so I kept listening for that and even listening to people's houses in case someone took her in.  Any time I heard a dog bark in the distance, I went that way to see if they were barking at her.  There are some really busy streets but the inside blocks of the area are rather quiet, so when I call (not even shrieking so I don't scare her more) it carries about a block in all directions.  I think she's just been on the move, looking for me but not knowing where to go.  She could be many miles away by now or she could be relatively close but just moving.  Luckily, she got away just inside the northwest quadrant of the city, so it's a very populated/urban area, so either way she goes there's so many chances for people to see her.  What sucks is that I live in the extreme southeast edge, so it takes a while to get to where she might be, and before last night I'd never even been near that area before despite it being in the same city.  Now I know it like the back of my hand!

Oh no Sad I'd be worried sick. I would walk the streets day and night looking, I don't think I could just stop looking or do anything else.

Kenya, don't be afraid of all those people, they are just trying to help you.

Hope she's home safely very soon!

Lies...I would also put out a K9 Amber Alert.

I am sure you have done this, but have you posted to the german shepherd forum as well?

Wishing you good vibes and watch your health.

Just an idea: Have you thought about going to the last place she was seen at like, say, 3am (or some time there's relatively no traffic and the neighborhood is quiet) and tried calling her then? She might be able to hear you better, and since everything will be quiet she might not be so afraid to come out of hiding.

One of our cats got out years ago.  He ended up in an overgrown blackberry patch behind our building.  We knew he was out there somewhere.  We ended up just sitting in the dark with a can of food calling his name.  After a couple hours he came to us.

I know you are going to continue doing everything you can.

    Good vibes coming from us.

We have our fingers crossed for Kenya's safe, quick return.

Stay safe Kenya. I hope you find her soon.
