    Wednesday Mindless Chattering

The worst of the rains and storms are now to the North of us.  We had no power for hours yesterday and part of last night.  Poles down and roads flooded all over town.  Of course, some idiots always seem to feel that they can indeed drive around the barricades and drive thru five feet of water and then they need resucing.  It really ticks me off that emergency responders have to risk their lives to help these idiots.  I heard quite a few were arrestd after they were rescued.

Amanda, glad Bev is doing well and that the surgery went well.

I'm thinking the worst may be over here in my neck of the woods too.  We'll likely get more pop up storms...but not the training that we experienced yesterday.  I did cancel my trip to Austin this week though.

I'm starting to get concerned with my old man, Buddy.  He's just getting old, and I know what happens...but I keep my eye on him to make sure he is happy, alert, eats well, etc.  As long as the quality of life is good, he is good.  He is starting to separate himself from the others though.  When its time for settling in for the night...the hooligans are inside in their room, and Buddy goes outside.  Its hot outside, so I don't like it.  This just started in recent days, but I worry about my elder.  Sad

Yesterday, I got so ticked off at a co-worker.  Our Austin office is very tight on space, in fact in some cases, we are having to double and triple up offices.  The population at that site is expected to grow; and yes they are doing some real estate initiatives...but in the meantime...space is tough to find.  So, I have an office there even though I'm not there that often.  I expected that soon enough I would need to give it up for some senior executive.  BUT, I get this email yesterday from an admin (lower on the totem pole than me) that said "I'm so sorry to tell you that I had to give your office to someone else.  I've packed all your stuff up and will keep  it safe until the next time you come to Austin."  WTF!  It was not so much what she had to tell me that ticked me off....it was the delivery of the message; how she told me.  I wrote her back and told her that a phone call or email in advance to discuss the situation might have been courteous.   I was just there two weeks ago too!  Had you any planning skills whatsoever, that would have been a great time to have the discussion.  I could have packed my own stuff.  Argh...I was ticked all evening long...obviously I'm still not over it LOL.   I do get the reason I lost the office....but really this chick needs some coaching on how to deliver a message.  And, apparently I may have to be the one to do the coaching as the lead admin on site doesn't have the skills either.  OK, rant over.  Zip it!

Barbara, I know that you're doing a fantastic job with Buddy.  Please pass along some lovins from us.

We lost power last night at around 11:30 and finally got it restored this morning around 6:30.  The rain has eased up some, but WOW we have gotten a lot of rain!  Hopefully, it will ease up today.

It's only 7:00 and we've already had drama here this morning.  DS#2's school cancelled class today, but Ds#1's did not.  DS#1 attempted to throw a fit so that he could have the day off as well.  It didn't work, & now he's grounded.  I am still irritated by the entire situation.

Thanks Amanda!  Lovins being passed momentarily.

Aw, the joys of boys!  Actually...girls can throw fits as well as any boy I've known.  Big Smile

Just noticed that so far we've gotten 2" of rain from Hermine.  Wonder if we'll get much today...time will tell.  Off to walk the dogs.

Hey all you Texans   . . . get on a plane to Jersey.  It's so dry here that we have wildfire warnings.  Plus, we could all get really snookered together !!

My 9 year old niece just got her first cell phone and is texting me with these really cute messages.

I have a dentist appointment this afternoon - yuck.

Give Buddy some kisses from us too!

Not much going on today.  I am off tomorrow morning to take Riley to U of M for her 3 month check-up for her arthritis.  I am actually really happy with her progress.  It looks like the knee is almost the same size as the other one and unless she is doing a lot of activity she hardly ever limps at all anymore.  I am excited to hear what they have to say.

I still haven't heard back from the docs so I am going to call this afternoon to see what the results say.  My meals today consist of an apple, two peaches, and a plain bagel.  Yummo!

Nikon is at the vet for his x-rays. My stomach will be in a knot all day...

Sending you calming vibes Lies.  I understand perfectly.

Deb, get the 2x4 and go pick up Jackie & Amanda and fly to Michigan - STAT.  The stalker guy showed up at my house last night with one of his daughters.  Unfortunately, my front door was open, so I couldn't just hide.  My DS was nowhere to be found.  I was civil because of the daughter but this morning I have sent a certified letter telling him to leave me alone.  When he mentioned that my phone number didn't work, I said, "I know.  I disconnected it on purpose."  I'm never good with situations when I am caught completely off-guard, so I was distantly polite, but if they couldn't tell how uncomfortable I was (I was literally shaking), then they'd have to be incredibly stupid.  I'm sure he used his daughter to find me and I have such a hard time believing any girl would help her father try to pursue a woman a month after her mother died.  I am far better with words on paper, so I hope this ends things because I don't feel like I left any grey areas with what I wrote.  I nearly threw up after they left I was so upset.

Glad our Texas members are online already this morning.  Stay safe & dry!

Jackie, I'm thrilled that your little dog is on her way to rescue!

Oh, and pass the vodka.  My nerves are shot.

Aww, Buddy. Maybe there's something going on and a vet checkup might help?

Lisa, that's awesome about the arthritis improvement. Wave to my BF while you're at U of M, ok? :)

I'm already getting frustrated by the long-distance issues... I'm really hoping I'm just out of sorts right now because BF has been in classes for a while, has all sorts of new friends and activities, etc., whereas I don't really know anyone here yet and don't start classes until next week, so I'm feeling jealous and left out and wish (irrationally) that BF would spend as much time/attention on me as on his classes/friends. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is, I'm pretty unhappy. Sigh. I hope this too shall pass. Maybe classes starting up will take away the free time I'm using to obsess and feel sorry for myself. :-p

Tina, I was worried about you and now reading this just freaks me out completely.   Oh how I wish I had been there.  I'm so sorry you're going thru this.   **passes  Tina the vodka*

ETA good vibes for Nikon's xrays.  Did you get your puppy yesterday or am I dreaming that I read that?  Also good vibes to the Bud man and his mama.

Oh no! Tina!!! You poor thing!!! Stay safe, okay? I don't think it would hurt to call the local police and ask for advice. They don't have to do anything, but having a record of your attempts to send this guy away can't be a bad thing. Plus they might send an extra car around your neighborhood to check on you. Ah geez. Wish I could loan you a large, imposing dog - any way you can do a temp foster or something??

OMGG Tina!  How awful.  And to use his daughter like that!  He probably knew that having her there would make sure you were civil.  What a crappy situation.  I'm worried for you :(

Hey Cita, I know the feeling! Except I'm in our home town, but still don't have many friends and relied on DH to be the social guy. So now that he's in OR and I'm in IN, I don't "do" anything. Not only that but don't have the money to do anything.  Meanwhile DH is in OR going diving and out to eat with friends and going to trainings and all that.... I know its to get his business up and running but he gets to "do" stuff and I'm not even entering an agility trial because I really don't have the money.  :(  It's very very hard.

He was here this past weekend and we had a big sale and got rid of a bunch of stuff, but we still have a ton of stuff left!  And I get to do most of the clean up and packing of the house. I just hope it sells before December which is when I plan to move to OR, but Oy!!

OMG Tina !!!!!   How old was the daughter??   I don't think I would have been civil - if he was stupid enough to use his daughter as a cover then he should be prepared for the consequences.  I think if it were me  . . . the cook you's would've been flying !!!
