we met just short of halfway (thanks Meg!) to switch "substances" LOL.

Right in front of the 'Rest Stop Security' LMAO.

I think I mentioned FH did security detail for the Usher concert last night - he's been walking around singing Usher songs and doing this weird hip-wiggle dance move thing all morning. Thank doG he left for work...

    Big Smile

    That's funny.

GORGEOUS day here today - 11:45 and still in the low 70s!!!  When I went hiking on Wednesday it was low 90s...I have an agility trial Sun/Mon so I'm especially grateful for the sun and nice temps.

I'm contemplating actually weeding the front flower beds today.  They are sorely in need of it but it's been too hot.  Now to find my pruning shears (for the giant poke weeds), weed digger, and gloves. Stick out tongue

Had two ladies stop by to try and sell a security system - they didn't come up onto the porch because Kes was leaping at the door doing his best Cujo impression (and Z and Chet were barking in the background lol).  I explained that I didn't see the need for a security system as we already had one. Wink

    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, I think I'll just get a sticker for my front door that reads "Protected by German Shepherds".  I really hate having people knock on my door to sell me something!  And yeah.  I'm the LAST person who needs a security system!

Callie, you NEED a weekend off! I know you just had a "vacation", but.....

I shipped the husband off last night to our friends farm 2 counties over.

I have bean and ham soup in the slow cooker.

I have a bored dog, despite the 3 frisbree and 1 ball chasing extravaganza's from this morning. I am tripping over him while I try and work on a quilt.

It was 63 degrees outside when I got up!!!! I slept with all the windows open in the house last night. The bedroom windows are almost ground level and someone, quite frankly could gain easy access to the house, that is if they can get past my personal alarm system that slept on the DH's side of the bed, and thus nearest the windows last night. I slept like a baby.

I have mowed the lawn, done 3 loads of laundry, made the soup, clean my bathroom, weeded both flower beds, vacuumed, swept and played with the dog. I am done for the day!

I feel for Kate and Annie.

LOL - we really needed a video of that.

I feel like  a total loser. I got to my orientation this morning at 9:20. I would've been there probably 10 min's earlier, but I used my stoopid GPS and it got me totally lost and doing u-turns in back alleys - grrrr. When I got there, all doors were locked and I couldn't even find a sign for where it was supposed to be. Thankfully a young girl came out and asked if I needed help. When I told her that I was there for the orientation, she said that I was too late and I should reschedule. I said I thought it started and 9:30 and she said "no - 9". I was horribly embarassed and disappointed. I'm sure they get a lot of flakey people they can't rely on but I'm usually the ultimate in responsible. I had all the info on my work email but quite honestly, I was so 100% sure it started at 9:30, I wouldn't have checked anyway. The next one is the Saturday that my friend is here from Florida in October, so this puts a big delay on getting started on anything and I'm super bummed out. I'm determined not to let it ruin my 3 day weekend though.

On a very positive note, I stopped afterwards to drop of my script for restasis and found out that my copay will be only $30 of the $300 and Restasis has a rewards program that pays $25 of each script, so it's only going to cost me $5. Woohoo - I'm very happy about that.

I'm off to get some housework done and at least feel somewhat productive.

OMG I didn't know about Frisby - need to go check that out

Count Bugsy in the super nutty dog category - it is a gorgeous day and he was on fire this morning.  I'm thinking of taking him on a long hike somewhere tomorrow so I decided not to walk him.  I was going to do some training and he was just too hyped so I took him for a bike ride.  Check that he took me for a ride.  He took off and went full speed for 1/2 mile uphill so fast that even in my top gear I couldn't pedal fast enough to do anything so I gave up and was thankful for an empty neighborhood. Surprise He slowed down on the way home but not very much.  I wish I had a three wheel bike and could just put him out front on days like this.  He was so happy.

Oh and I used him 'for security' once - this strange looking guy came around trying to sell security systems - when I saw a weirdo approaching the door i called B and got him crazy excited - he doesn't bark but a very hyper 105lb dog smacking the glass storm door seems to do the trick. LOL  The guy just kept backing up, he he he.

Been to Trader Joe's and Costco and am now just relaxing in the porch - loving this beautiful breeze............just mentioned to DH it feels like a nice time to have a bit of white wine.  he liked the idea and is now chilling a bottle we got at TJ's.

And 2 hours later the front bed is looking somewhat landscaped instead of being a patch of weeds.  We filled, completely full with everything packed down over and over, the 85 (ish) gallon yard waste container the city provides!

I pulled out tons of poke, virginia creeper, some odd prickly thing with purple fruit, little saplings of various sorts, some grass like weed, morning glory, clover, and various other weeds.  DH joined me (without me asking! yay!) and trimmed off dead limbs from the dogwood, neatened the holly bushes, and trimmed our little juniper bush.  Our neighbor who likes to play with power tools even asked if he could edge our walk and driveway (we accepted lol).

And while I was out there I was able to give Kes and Chet both a full hour on the 30' line.  Kes spent most of his time sniffing and chewing on twigs when he wasn't "supervising", but Chet spent most of his time running about and convincing DH or I to throw sticks over and over. Big Smile

Off to take a shower and veg since I've earned it.  Dinner tonight is Jimmy Johns and DQ for dessert!

Today's later plans include the liquor store, and perhaps some napping.

This made me chuckle.  Sounds like a good plan...liquor up then sleep it off.  Drinks

Hehehe.... that's actually for tomorrow. Luke and I are going to a friend's for a labor day get together. Myself and one of the other people coming are the only ones who want rum, so we just bring our own. Since our other friend and her husband are hosting, thereby paying for lots of things, and having us all sleep over (for safety of course) I'd feel bad not bringing anything. They don't keep it and don't really drink it, so I just take care of that myself. We're going to bring a few little things otherwise.

I'm a little pissy with my one friend who is going. I have one air mattress that I can find to take with me tomorrow. I probably have a second one around somewhere, but can't find it. If I have it, my friend can borrow it. If not, it's not my responsibility to supply her one. Why should I have to share mine (it's twin sized), and I am certainly not buying another. Unless of course, I have more people over than can be accommodated by what is already here. We have a futon, an extra bedroom right now (though it would need to be cleaned up, and that air mattress. If I should have more than 3-4 people, which I won't, I'll go out and buy another one. Otherwise, I have the one I can find, which is plenty for my house.

Man, you guys are productive...I'm still in my jammies.  Embarrassed  I'm on my last couple of loads of laundry, though.  Then you all may have inspired me to go outside and give everybuddy a bath and a nail clippping.  Well, Buddy's get dremeled. I'll think about it.  I do need to go the grocery store sometime and get the oil changed which I was supposed to do yesterday...but opted to lounge.

Yesterday, I took mother for her beauty appointment (shamppo, set, mani/pedi).  Now that her other hairdresser moved off...we had to find another one...this one is very good...but she is a bit further away.  Also, there is nothing around for me to do, so I sit in there and wait (with my laptop).  The old hairdresser was in a place where I could run all my other errands...this one is more remote.  As good as she is, I may try to find another one, closer in and somewhere I could get some things done.

Meg...that is too funny and way cool of a gig for FH.  He was able to get some fun in during the worknight.

Aw Cathy, that sux about the orientation...but the $5 co-pay sort of had to make up for it....maybe a little bit.

Yeah, my big bad security dogs only think people are here to play with them...especially Heidi.  However, when we do get the rare soliciter...the people always get a nice performance of "rushing the gate."  They move on.  Smile

Yea Kes would lick and flea bite them to death, but man does he sound/look vicious (as long as you don't look at his tail flailing wildly in circles lol).  Maggie was a better guard because I never had any doubt that someone coming in without permission would be risking a herding dog nip, the dogs we have now don't have that edge.

    • Gold Top Dog

I've gotten dressed for the day!  Its almost 4:00, you say?  Well.....at least I got dressed.  Stick out tongue

Finished laundry, had a fling with Mr. Dyson...now its time to lounge.  Going to cover the doors and hang on the back porch.  Perhaps poor a spirit of some kind.  Hmmm...what shall I have?

    • Gold Top Dog

Congratulations Barb.  I know that took some doing!  LOL.

I had to go to the MALL.  DS wanted new shoes for his birthday on Monday (in addition tot he alignment and new rim for his truck) and he wanted to go to Sears.  Shudder!!  But, I was well fortified since we hit the Farm Stand first and then blessedly the Target in the mall has a Starbucks so I got my pumpkin spice latte!!  And even luckier, shoes were RIGHT inside the door we went in!

I'm waiting for Charles to get home from a trip to Best Buy and then we're going out to eat and have a few drinks.  It was cool this morning and the dogs had a great zoomy time running off lead at the park and then a walk to an area different from our normal place.  Gabby is such a little clown and so much fun that we say "did you see that?" about a million times.  lol

I need to shampoo the carpets this weekend and I'm hoping I get it done tomorrow so I can goof off on Monday and maybe do some furniture shopping.  I'm not a good shopper but there are a lot of good sales and I might just find something I can't pass up, at a great price.

    Have a good evening everyone.

My neighbor came down with her grandson to swim yesterday and while they were still there her husband and son came down.  Her son looked around and said "How can you keep the yard so gorgeous with a dog?" Umm.  He quit digging when he was about a year old, so the only thing he really does in the yard is pee and poop.  He doesn't really spend any time in the yard unless there's someone out there so yeah, you can have a dog and a halfway decent yard. I just got back from Costco and since I had DGS with me, I got way more than I had planned to ... like a giant box of Sweet & Salty peanut bars and a big box of Sun chips.  At least I remembered coffee. And I still don't know "what's for dinner."

We ended up with a giant box of Ghiradelli brownie mix Embarrassed  Is it possible to make the batter, and then freeze some of it?  Each pouch makes 16 brownies, and there are 6 pouches.  They were sampling them today and the smell was heavenly.

Can anyone help me --we have two christenings to go to in the next two weekends, for folks we are friendly with, but not necessarily great friends.  Whatever sort of gift do you give for a baptism?  I've only ever been to mine and I don't remember it LOL
