"Officially the weekend" MC

Can anyone help me --we have two christenings to go to in the next two weekends, for folks we are friendly with, but not necessarily great friends.  Whatever sort of gift do you give for a baptism?  I've only ever been to mine and I don't remember it LOL

DH does all of the gift buying for christenings.  The last two gifts that he got were a silver train bank for a friend's little boy, & a snowglobe with some bible verse on a cross inside.  Both gifts were oooh-ed & aww-ed over so I assume that they were both acceptable.  (He always checks out "Things Remembered" in the mall for those types of gifts.)

Meg, if you want a snuggly dobe then I'm sending Cher.  Once she decides that you are worthy of her affection she showers you with lovins.  Bevo, otoh, only snuggles when he feels like it.  He loves to be righthere with you, but snuggling...not so much.  I'll send Schatzi as well.  She's a world class snuggler.  Any time that someone is sitting down at our house, it is a given that Schatzi is in their lap or begging to be in their lap.

Paige, Bev & Cher don't believe me when I threaten to beat them either.

Cathy, I'm sorry that you missed the orientation.

I've had a kind of blah day.  I'm tired, overly emotional, & feeling sorry for myself.  Somebody smack me with the 2x4 & tell me to get over it.

No way Amanda. I'm at carrabbas, which is normally an awesome thing, but FH's grandma and aunt met us here. Pass the dry bamboo skewer so I can stab my eyeball.

Dogs have NO sense of time!  I just get all comfy on the couch and Willow is demanding a walk!  Off I go to get dressed. . .

gladly! wohoo! It's not very often that someone wants the 2x4 smack! You have good reason to feel bleh today though so maybe just a light tap on the head.

I could actually use the 2x4 today too. I'm feeling over emotional, a little depressed and sorry for myself as well. I know its because I'm over tired and because of the emotions involved with the search yesterday. So, I'm trying to stay rational about how I'm feeling and not let my mood control me. I have every reason to be excited and not depressed so I need to get over it too!

However, I could use a maid. Just for tomorrow.

    *smack* Get over it.

    What!? You said to!!!

We're working on potty training this weekend since its a long weekend. Kelci had 3 accidents today. All before her nap. Once she had climbed on top of her Dora table in the living room, and while standing on it, started to pee. Tyler was on his hands and knees in front of her and got sprayed on the head. It was entirely too funny! She finished that one up in the potty and didn't have another accident after that. Still, it was an exhausting day as she simply adores sitting on her princess potty seat on the big toilet and kept defaulting to there. And she'd go dashing down the hall saying Potty Potty, so I'd jump up and go after her, cause you never know so you gotta go.

Kali is signed up for Ringette this winter. It starts October 4th. I'll have to find equipment for her. I think we still have Kale's first set, so it should fit her I hope. And I think we have size 9 skates, but I'll have to check on that too. I wish I could get a pair of skates for Kelci too, but her feet are only just now a size 5 and the smallest skates I've been able to find are size 8's. Maybe I'll get her a pair of Bob Skates for this year. Anyway I can't wait for her to start, and I hope she likes it. I really miss being a part of the Ringette Association. Steph and Megan played when they were young, so we practically lived at the Arena 2 nights a week. But then Steph out grew it and Megan switched to Hockey and there was no reason to be there anymore. Ringette is so much more parent friendly I think.

I just went to the wikipedia to find out what Ringette is. I wish I had lived in Canada as little kid, because I think I would have liked that.

    LOL Jen. Ringette Rocks!

For those that don't know, its like Hockey, played on ice, on skates, but they use sticks without blades and a rubber ring instead of a puck. The other big difference is that its much more team oriented than Hockey. You HAVE to pass over the blue lines, so there is no hogging the ring and you learn to use your whole team. Oh, and for the most part its girls that play, though in the younger divisions, lots of boys play. Power skating is part of Ringette, so unlike hockey where you have to sign up for separate power skating camps, Ringette players are usually better skaters from a young age.

Ok, I now officially believe that every wedding should be managed by a professional (who has to work only with vendors who don't jack up the prices of everything by 30% just because "wedding" is associated.)  My sister has left everything to the last minute, and has now blown it up from "we're going surfing after the 5 minute ceremony" to coordinating the kids' outfits, Tiffany-box colored rented linens (just table cloths), seashells, sand, and candles EVERYWHERE, etc, etc.  They live literally on the beach, fine, cool, I get it... but I just can't believe some of the stuff that's still not purchased.  I'm running errands tomorrow morning in a moving truck full of my stuff...

Bed for now.  Hope everyone had beautiful weather like we had today, and gets even better weather tomorrow!

Candace, I definitely missed out in life.

    Paige, just ugh.

Can't you just make one pouch at a time?  If they are individually pouched?

I don't know if these are even still available, but when my sons were baptized they got a lot of savings bonds.  That's quick, easy and at least was, pretty inexpensive.

Ah, see each "pouch" is 16 brownies, at 200 calories each, and DH and I would eat every last one of them.  Or rather, he would eat 14 and leave me two.  I thought maybe making 2-4 at a time would lend itself better to not overindulging.  I will try freezing the batter, it can't hurt any more than wasting 1/6 of the box!

Savings bonds might be a good idea, I remember getting those too, and being like 20 before they matured.  Or, I'll look at the mall for something like Amanda's DH gets.  I didn't even think of Things Remembered for something like this.
